Don't Hug Me I'm Scared {Billie Eilish}
Dahlia's POV
************
I rushed to find something nice to wear, wanting to make a nice first impression on Denny's friend, and mentally cursed him as I did. This is fucking deja vu. This is what happened when I first met Billie. That asshole invited her over and left me with barely any time to make myself look decent! At least I'm not trying to get with this girl, but still!
I finally found a nice outfit and threw it on as quickly as I could.
After I got it on, I looked into my mirror and began trying to fix my messy hair. I hadn't taken my makeup for the day off yet, thankfully, so I didn't have to worry about that.
I grabbed my phone and headed downstairs after I was dressed, just in time to hear the doorbell ring. I walked over to the door and let out a small sigh, realizing just how not in the mood I was to have someone over. At least it's just one of Denny's friends and I don't have to worry about entertaining them. I hope it's not one of those dumb jocks he insists on hanging out with. He usually doesn't invite them over to the house, though, so it's probably not.
I opened the door and my bored facial expression immediately changed to a confused one. "Hey, it's you!" I laughed as I pointed at the girl from earlier.
She smirked, leaning against the doorframe and shoving her hands into her pockets. She hadn't changed out of the outfit she was wearing at school, and I made a mental note to ask her where she got those pants from because they're absolutely fire! "It is me." She stated cooly.
"Come on in," I opened the door wider and stepped to the side and she did. "I didn't catch your name earlier, by the way."
"It's Kit." She smiled.
"Kit. So, you're a friend of my brother's? That happened pretty fast."
"Yeah, I didn't know he went to this school. We've been working together at the music lounge for a while now."
"Cool," I shoved my own hands into my pockets as I stood there awkwardly. "Um...So, did you ever get to talk to Julia?"
Julia had asked me to give Kit her number, eager to figure out who she was and whether or not she could live with her.
She nodded and smiled largely. "Been talking all day. Trying to get to know each other and everything, and I've got an interview with her tomorrow after school. She's gonna show me the house and everything and ask me a bunch of questions." She shrugged a little.
"That's great! And you're sure you won't mind living with a newborn baby?"
"Nah, it's cool. I like kids and I'm good at tuning shit out." She laughed. "I mean, but I'd be willing to help out and everything!"
"Oh, don't worry about it. I don't think Julia's gonna force you to help her out or anything," I chuckled. "But it's nice that you want to."
She nodded and then looked around for a moment. "This is a nice place." She said before turning to look at me again. I was about to reply, but I got a little distracted.
I kept wondering why her eyes were like that. One completely normal and one with a dilated pupil. Then I started thinking about how cool it looked, and honestly, I'm jealous. When I was younger I always used to wish that I had David Bowie's eyes, and this girl pretty much does except for they're hazel. Lucky.
Then I started thinking about how dope David Bowie's music was. It's been a while since I've heard his songs, and I really need to get back to listening to him soon. I wonderâ
"It happened when I was younger." She said, pulling me out of my thoughts. I blushed as she smirked at me. Clearly, I'd been staring for a while.
"Sorry, what?" I mumbled.
"My eye. It happened when I was younger. About six or seven."
"Sorry for staring." I laughed awkwardly, rubbing my arm.
"It's fine. People do that a lot." She sighed.
"IâI like it! I mean, I didn't mean to be rude and I'm not judging or anything, you know? I just think it's cool!" I rushed out my words and my face turned even redder. Why am I fucking like this?
"It's fine, Dahlia." She smiled.
"Okay...What happened?" I asked curiously.
"Long story," She shrugged, clearly growing uncomfortable. I nodded quickly. "Do you like David Bowie?" I squeaked. I was trying to change the conversation, but I guess that's not much of a change. I should've just asked if she wanted a glass of water or something.
Her smirk was right back on her face as she nodded slowly. "Yeah, I get asked that a lot."
"Sorry. I'm just...Trash." I squeezed my eyes shut and she let out another small chuckle. "It's okay. I do like his music."
"I'm gonna go get Denny." I told her after a few moments of silence. I slid past her and ran up the stairs as fast as I could, banging on Denver's door as soon as I was in front of it.
He opened it and glared down at me. "What do you want, dweeb?"
"Are you forgetting that you have fucking company?" I whisper yelled.
"I didn't know she was here already," He shrugged. "I have to get my guitar. Tell her I'll be down in two minutes."
He closed the door in my face before I could say anything and I rolled my eyes before reluctantly heading back downstairs. She was standing in the same spot, looking around.
"You can have a seat, you know?" I gestured toward the couch and she took a seat. "Denny said he'll be down in a few."
"Cool."
"So...You guys work together?"
Yes, Dahlia. They do. What the fuck was the point of asking? My god, I hate myself.
"Yeah," She snickered. "And he seems like a pretty cool dude. Invited me over to see his guitar. He really loves that thing. He talks about it like it's his child."
"Yeah." I let out an awkward chirp before getting quiet again. I sat next to her and crossed one of my legs over the other, drumming my fingers against them.
"Why're you so nervous, Dahlia?" She questioned. I turned to look at her quickly, my cheeks reddening once again as I realized that I must've been acting even weirder than I thought if she'd noticed my nerves. I was gonna try to play it off and pretend like I wasn't, but I'm not that great of a liar and she seemed as if she could see right through me so I didn't even bother.
"I don't know. I thought I was better at talking to new people nowadays, but I guess I'm still just as shy as I used to be." I shrugged. "Or maybe my anxiety is just hella bad today for some reason. I don't know."
"That's okay. I'm not great around new people either." She smiled.
"Really? You seem pretty chill."
"Well, with you I am. You're nice, likable, small," She looked away from me and bounced her knee a little. "You've got Doe eyes, you know? I'm not easily intimidated in the first place, but I'm certainly not intimidated by you."
"Well, thanks a lot!" I rolled my eyes. "Need I remind you of what happened earlier today?"
"Yeah, that was real cute." She smirked, turning to look at me again. I stuck my tongue out at her before pulling out my vibrating phone. I smiled largely as I saw that it was Billie who was calling. "One second, okay?" I asked, turning to Kit. She nodded and gestured for me to go ahead and answer, so I did.
"Hey, baby!" Billie shouted, causing me to laugh. "I miss you and Finneas is getting on my nerves. He keeps trying to make me eat my vegetables again. So, I decided to call you to keep me from murdering him. How are you?"
"It's been a long day, Bil." I sighed as I thought back to everything that happened at school. "I'll explain what happened later, though."
"Is everything okay?" She asked quickly.
"Yeah, it's no bigâWell, it is a big deal, but it's nothing bad like before. Nobody's threatening to leak my nudes or tell everyone about my childhood trauma again." I joked.
"Damn. That's wild." Kit smirked before mouthing a quick 'Sorry' for intruding on the conversation. I waved her apology off and told her it was okay.
"Who was that?"
"Oh, it's Denny's friend, Kit."
"The new girl from school?"
"Yeah."
"Dude, you're so lucky she's in your house! She's fucking hot."
"Thanks so much, my wonderful, loving girlfriend, for always making me feel so special and like I'm the only girl in the world." I grumbled.
"Oh, come on. You gotta admit she's pretty hot."
Well, yeah, she is, but I can't exactly say that in front of her.
"I'm coming over, bro." She said moments before I heard shuffling.
"BillieâWhat the fuck?" I smiled sweetly at Kit before standing up quickly and walking into the kitchen. "You're coming over here because she's here? What, are you planning to woo her and get her to agree to be your girlfriend or something?" I whisper yelled.
"Nothing wrong with a little harmless flirting," I could hear the smirk she was wearing. "I'd love to be in the same room as two hot girls right now."
"You're the worst."
"Yeah, I know." She snickered. "Come on, baby. You know I don't want anyone that isn't named Dahlia Doe."
"Mhm." I grumbled. "Just hurry your cute ass up."
"My cute ass will go at whatever pace it wants to. I love you."
"Mhm."
"Say it back, bitch."
"No."
"Say it back or you're gonna get it when I get there."
"Bye, Bil," I smirked as I hung up and went back into the living room. "Sorry about that."
"No problem," She smiled. "So...You're Billie's girlfriend?"
"Yeah. Did she say something about me?" I grinned.
"She just told me that she had a hot girlfriend. Now that I know she was talking about you, I have to agree." She winked.
"Stop it!" I blushed, throwing a pillow at her. "Do you have a..."
"Girlfriend?" She shook her head. "Nah, I just broke up with the girl I was with."
"Oh, I'm sorry." I frowned.
"It's okay! It was my call." She shrugged.
Denny finally came trotting down the stairs before we could say anything else. He greeted her and they immediately started talking about his guitar as he handed it to her.
***
"Where is she?" Billie whispered quickly, walking right past me as I opened the door. I scoffed as I closed it and then put my hands on my hips.
"Hello to you too, my love. She's up in Denny's room."
"Damn," She mumbled.
"Billie fucking Eilish, I can't believe you! Here I am, your girlfriend, standing here waiting for a hug or a kiss or some type of affection and all you can think about is another girl! Who isn't me! You should feel ashamed!" I ranted.
She sent me a look. "Cut the crap."
"She's totally hot. I want her to use her strap on me!" I whisper yelled, walking toward her. I grabbed her hands and jumped up and down and looked toward the stairs to make sure she wasn't there. "Her fucking accent, broâ"
"Oh, don't get me started!" Billie cut me off. "And her name is cool too! I mean, Kit? So simple and so hot."
We gushed over her for a few more minutes before I let out a small sigh. "Do you think this is weird? Shouldn't we be, like...Not doing this?"
"It's not weird if we're planning a threesome." She shrugged. I rolled my eyes and slapped her shoulder before grabbing her hand and leading her to the stairs.
