"Elijah, have you already taken Makayla for her checkup? Weren't we supposed to go together?" Sarah sounded upset.

She drove to the Bourne family's place only to find out that Elijah had already left with Makayla.

Elijah watched the comings and goings at the hospital entrance, his voice cold. "Her test results came back fine."

"That's good. I've started prepping for Makayla's third treatment," Sarah said excitedly. "I've got a new approach. If all goes well, we can do the third surgery in the second half of the year."

Elijah, "Can you guarantee the third surgery will get her back to normal?"

Sarah was taken aback. Even the best doctors didn’t dare to promise they could cure their patients. "I can't be 100% sure, but I think..."

“If you can't be sure, then stop!” He said coldly. “Come find me when you're 100% sure.”

Stop? Sarah was shocked.

"Elijah... are you suggesting we stop Makayla's treatment? Or... have you found a better doctor?" Her voice trembled slightly, sounding a little lost.

She never imagined that Elijah would make such a decision. Did he know that she wasn't the one who performed the previous two surgeries on Makayla? But if he knew, he wouldn't have called her last night to see Makayla!

“No.” His voice was devoid of warmth. “Sarah, the money I gave you could've been used to buy anything you wanted. But you chose to give it to Alexa.”

Violette hated him so much, not only because he abandoned their relationship to protect a secret, but also because of the tension between him, Sarah, and Alexa.

He spent last night in Makayla's room, thinking a lot. The more he thought, the more he understood Violette's pain. Sure, everyone had their own sufferings, past mistakes had been made, but in the future, he wanted to avoid repeating them as much as possible.

When Sarah heard his reason, tears silently fell. “I'm sorry... Elijah, I didn't realize you still had such strong feelings for Violette.”

“You knew.” Elijah saw through her lie.

Sarah never thought he would be so blunt!

“Sarah, we don't need to keep in contact.” He said the most decisive words in the calmest tone.

"Sarah, what's wrong?" Alexa happened to be home that day.

"Elijah has clearly chosen Violette's side!" Sarah pinned her hopes on Alexa. "If you don't act against Violette now, you won't stand a chance once she has the baby."

Alexa looked serious. "Is it really that bad?"

"Yes! He explicitly told me he's cutting ties with me for Violette! He cares so much about Makayla, but for Violette, he's decided to stop Makayla's treatment!" Sarah's tears started flowing again. "I've lost completely!"

Alexa handed her a few tissues. "Stop crying. I've come up with a thorough plan, but I need your help."

This time Sarah didn't ask any questions, she just agreed. "As long as it can make Violette suffer, I'm willing to do anything!"
