Epilogue

Demon in Ruins (Dark Choices #1)✔

Epilogue

-Nate-

I stood in my room, remembering her presence in there. Whenever she was here, talking to me I could feel alive. But now that she was gone I couldn't even focus on anything.

I don't know if I had done wrong sending her back but that was what she wanted. She had been crying to go back. Then who wouldn't? Everybody wanted to remain at their homes. Being homesick was a feeling that killed a person slowly.

I stared at the sun out of my window. It was peaceful, shinning in the sky like an orange ball of heat and warmth. How was I supposed to get out in the sun when it could burn me down to ashes?

Victor had a locket made for this purpose. The witches had enchanted it with magic to stay in sun without burning. I wanted it too. Maybe I could go to Karen's world to meet her. That would prove that I was desperate to meet her.

After so many years this mansion had been lighten up with someone's laughter and voice. It was gone now. Karen was gone. Was she ever coming back?

"What are you thinking about?" Victor asked me.

I turned around to see him leaning against the room's wall.

"Okay, don't answer that." He said smiling. "You're thinking that girl who left you in ruins. Aren't you?"

"Get out of here." I said.

I didn't want him to make fun of me. I know he had saved our lives and I was indebted to him for that but it didn't mean I was going to listen to his blabbering.

"As usual you're back to your routine." Victor grinned. "I think I should be back too."

"I don't care what you do. Why don't you go and travel?" I said sarcastically. "Aren't you thirsty?"

He stood there glaring at me, and then smiled.

"You're right." He stood straight. "I should go to some other place. This place anyway sucks without her."

He was gone before I could answer him back. Well, having him here did nothing good.

"Prince," I small voice said.

"You may come in." I said.

It was a guard.

"What's the matter?" I asked.

"There is some lady to meet Victor standing in the hall." He replied. "I couldn't find Sir Victor that's why I came to you."

A lady? Who could be it? She wanted to meet Victor. Why was she here?

"I'm coming." I said dismissing him.

I walked to the hall with different question arising in my head. I felt little dizzy.

I looked at the lady who was waiting for Victor.

I looked and couldn't take eyes off her.

She had the same flawless skin. Her black eyes were still young. Her long dark had not turned into grey. She was just the same. She had not aged even a day. She was alive, here in front of me.

She looked up and her eyes met mine.

"Kaitlin," I whispered.
