Chapter 1034 - Dont Forget The Promise...
Young Brother-in-law Is Now My Husband
Wen Zac sighed, "So you came here to talk about this?"
Liwei nodded, looking into his eyes, which showed he was stressed, "Yes, I want to know why my always so happy brother turn silent?"
"I said no because itâs not possible between her and me. She is just a business partner," he replied.
"But that day, it looked like you are good friends," Liwei referred to the day when Jiang Yuyan visited their home.
"Friend but not so close. She has very few people in life that can be called friends, and I donât want her to lose one just because of this," Wen Zac said.
Hearing it, Liwei offered his brother a doubtful look, "But from what you said, it seems like you care for her."
Wen Zac nodded, "She is my friendâs wife, and she has gone through a lot after his death that no one can even think about. She is at peace now, and we should not disturb it."
"You can care for her after you are together," she suggested.
"First, she will never agree to it, and second, our care is only bothersome to her," Wen Zac added.
"If brother is sure, then I have nothing to say," she said and asked again, "Then why are you so stressed, and what kind of promise father talked about?"
"To stop him from talking to President Lu about this, I agreed to his condition," Wen Zac explained.
"What kind of condition?"
"In exchange for not talking about it, he asked me to agree to meet any girl he would suggest me to," Wen Zac replied.
"Only to meet and not to marry her. Whatâs so bad about it? One day brother has to marry someone," Liwei spoke.
Wen Zac could only sigh, and Liwei looked at her brother doubtfully, "As far as I know, brother doesnât have any girlfriend. Is it like brother is not interested in women and...."
"What?" Wen Zac exclaimed before she could talk more, "Donât talk bullshit."
Liwei gave out a sigh of relief, "Ahh, thatâs fine then," she smiled teasingly, "But even if my brother was into men, it was fine."
Wen Zac glared at her, "Do you want a beating? Iâm straight?"
Liwei giggled, "This is how I like my brother. Donât pull out that sad look again."
"I wonât."
"Also, if father chose President Lu for you, then fatherâs standard about finding a girl for brother is really high. Donât worry, father would find another best girl brother."
"Thatâs what Iâm scared about," Wen Zac mumbled.
"What do you mean?" she asked.
"Nothing," he replied.

*(Flashback of how Lu Lian came into the scene instead of Yuyan. It will last till the next chapter.)*
Few days before Mr. Wen talked to his son about his marriage arrangement. They were in the living room after dinner.
"What do you think about President Lu?" Mr. Wen asked.
"She is good," Wen Zac answered casually.
"Just good?"
"We all know what she is. Nothing much to talk about," Wen Zac replied.
Mr. Wen nodded lightly and came to the point, "I have decided to become relatives with the Lus from just friends."
Puzzled, Wen Zac looked at his father, "I didnât get it."
"We think you and President Lu would be good together," Mr. Wen replied.
"What?" Wen Zac exclaimed, "Father, how can...."
"I gave you a chance to choose someone on your own, but it doesnât seem possible on your side so...."
"Father, itâs not possible," Wen Zac interrupted Mr. Wen.
"Why? Is it because she had married before?" Mr. Wen asked.
"Itâs not that," Wen Zac didnât know how to explain as he was still in shock.
"We are not living in old times, and such things should not be a bother. She is one nice lady that any man should feel good to have in life."
"I know, father."
"Then whatâs the problem?"
"She would never marry anyone, and Iâm sure of it. She is my friendâs wife, who she still loves even after so many years. Being by her side as a friend, at least this much I can do for Lu Qiang. Bringing up this thing would only disturb her and break my friendship. I donât want her to lose a friend as she already has none."
"We didnât even ask her, so how can you know she would say no?" Mr. Wen asked.
"I know it, father. Trust me. Please donât bring this up with her. It will only create distance between us," Wen Zac pleaded.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
"Donât you like her?" Mr. Wen asked.
"I never looked at her that way. I know she is a wonderful person, but I also know the reality. All I have is respect for her."
"Let my friend at least talk to her once,"
"Father, please. Iâll do anything you ask but just donât let this happen," Wen Zac pleaded again.
Mr. Wen sighed disappointingly and spoke, "Anything Iâll ask?"
"Yes," Wen Zac agreed.

That night Mr. Wen couldnât sleep and talked to his wife.
"What should I do? What will Lu Jinhai think once Iâll tell him about this? I thought our son liked her. Itâs all my fault. I should have talked to our son first."
Mrs. Wen held her tensed husbandâs hand to console him, "We canât force him, and if he thinks she will say no, so he must be right."
"What about when I said to my friend that we could be relatives?"
"Werenât we thinking about Liwei and Lu Lijun?" Mrs. Wen asked.
"It has time, and we are not sure if the two will agree to it. They are still young," Mr. Wen said.
"I had something in mind, but not sure if Iâm wrong?"
"What?"
"I saw Lu Lian that day, and I liked her. How about we think about it," Mrs. Wen suggested. "You can talk to our son."
"No need. He promised me he would do anything I ask,"
"Still..."
"Iâll talk to my friend tomorrow," Mr. Wen interrupted his wife, not willing to talk to his son.

The next day morning, Mr. Wen talked to his son.
"Today, Iâll inform my friend about your response," said Mr. Wen.
"Thank you, father," said Wen Zac, just to hear his father again.
"Donât forget what you promised me yesterday."
"I wonât," Wen Zac agreed, feeling worried inside.
"Iâll select a girl for you, and you have to agree to it," Mr. Wen informed.
Wen Zac agreed, thinking his father wouldnât find another girl this soon.
