"Am I her parent?"
Came the cold and unexpected reply from Ming Rusheng that puzzled the assistant.
"Huh?"
"To tell me about her tantrums, am I her parent to handle it?" Ming Rusheng asked again as he glared at the assistant.
"N-No," the assistant said.
"Then let her be and focus on your work," Ming Rusheng warned as he added, "Seems like you are short for work these days. Need to cut your salary as you donât have anything productive to do."
The assistant bowed apologetically and left. The assistant had so many questions in mind, âThese two were together in Mr. Wongâs home. Did something happen there? Did they fight or what?â
Once the assistant left, Ming Rusheng slammed the hand on the table and frowned, "Is she a kid or what?"
------
The office hours finished, and Ming Rusheng was also done with his work. He came out of his office with the assistant when they saw Lu Lianâs assistant, who looked in a dilemma.
Ming Rushengâs assistant asked, "What happened?"
"Ms. Lu asked me to go home," she replied.
"Then?" the assistant asked.
"How can I go when Ms. Lu is still working? She even skipped her lunch, and Iâm worried her health might worsen," she replied.
Ming Rusheng heard it and looked at his wristwatch, "Both of you leave," he ordered.
The lady assistant was unwilling to leave, but who could defy the order by the big boss. Ming Rushengâs assistant signalled her not to worry as he was sure his boss was more than capable of handling anyone.
When the two assistants left, Ming Rusheng went to Lu Lianâs office. She was in the workshop, so he knocked on the door and entered to hear the busy lady talking coldly.
"I have told you to go home. Donât make me repeat."
Lu Lian thought that was her assistant.
Ming Rusheng stood near the door, "You should not make me repeat too when I have told you to take off today."
Lu Lian looked at him, "Itâs up to me to decide, Mr. Ming."
Ming Rusheng ignored her, "You are not well, so you should go home. Itâs late."
As if she didnât hear him, Lu Lian resumed her work, "I wonder if Mr. Ming worries this much for all the employees here."
"I do; thatâs why I want you to take a few days off so you wonât infect others and disturb the work environment," Ming Rusheng countered.
âSeriously, this man,â Lu Lian frowned inside and stood up from her chair.
Ming Rusheng smirked as his trick worked, and she would finally go home.
âThis stubborn woman. Kind words would never work on her,â he thought.
Lu Lian stepped towards him angrily and stood up facing him, "Infect, huh?"
And the next moment, she held his collar and kissed him as she pulled him towards her tightly. It surprised Ming Rusheng as he didnât expect her to do this after what he said to her when she came to his office at noon.
As if he was frozen, Ming Rusheng let her suck his lips, but he didnât respond.
Lu Lian parted away in a while and smirked, "All the best for not catching the infection," and turned to leave the workshop.
Ming Rusheng held her hand and pulled her back as he held her tightly at the waist and stared into her eyes.
"Only this much is not enough to infect me," he said as his one hand held the back of her head, and he kissed her.
Even before she could resist him, he moved her along with him and pinned her against the wall next to them.
"Umm...you..." She tried to speak, but Ming Rusheng sealed her lips as he slid his tongue in her cavern, and she could only comply with him because her body felt weak due to the fever.
Parting in a while, Ming Rusheng stared at her, who was struggling to breathe, and being sick made it worse for her.
"Letâs see if I fall sick. If not, you are free to infect me anytime," he spoke, a light teasing smirk painted on his lips.
She glared at him but couldnât say a word as she was the one to start it.
She left the workshop, picked up her bag, and left the office while Ming Rusheng followed behind but not in a hurry. He let her be alone; he knew she must curse him in her mind.
Lu Lian entered the elevator, but Ming Rusheng didnât follow her as he stepped towards another elevator.
When she reached outside of the office building, one man in the black suit, who looked like from the security team, came to her and informed, "Ms. Lu, there is a problem with the car, so I have arranged a company car for you."
He signaled towards one white car, which was the same model as Ming Rushengâs black car.
She frowned, "I donât like that brand," and stepped out from there to go towards the road where she could catch the cab, while the man could only stare at her helplessly.
Ming Rusheng saw it, but he knew she wouldnât listen. He sat in his car and instructed the driver, "Wait for a while."
He waited till Lu Lian could call for a cab. Soon one taxi arrived, and Lu Lian sat inside.
Just as the cab left, "Ming Rusheng instructed the driver, "Follow that cab."
Ming Rusheng followed Lu Lian till she reached Lu Mansion. Seeing the cab entering Lu Mansionâs gate, Ming Rusheng felt relieved and asked the driver to return.
------
Lu Lian returned home, and she came across Lu Lijun and Jiang Yuyan, who just reached the home and was in the living room while talking to grandpa.
They noticed Lu Lian looked tired, and her complexion changed.
"Are you not feeling good," elder Lu asked.
"Just a little tired," Lu Lian replied as she stopped to greet her grandpa.
"Are they making you work too much?" Lu Lijun aksed as if his sister was a slave at some enemyâs home.
Lu Lain shook her head, saying no.
Jiang Yuyan stood closer to her, so she touched Lu Lianâs forehead, "You have a fever."
"Itâs nothing..."
"You should rest and donât go to work for a few days," Jiang Yuyan ordered in a firm voice, interrupting Lu Lian.
Lu Lijun was worried for his sister, but then, he looked at Jiang Yuyan, who showed concern for Lu Lian.
For a moment, Lu Lijun felt jealous as Jiang Yuyan never showed such concern for him. His eyes didnât leave her sight, and he thought how it would feel if she ever cared for him and say such calm and caring words to him.
Lu Lian had nothing to say as it was Jiang Yuaynâs order and nodded slightly.
"Let me take you to the room," Jiang Yuyan offered, and Lu Lian agreed.
Both women left to go upstairs while others let them go. Lu Lijun sighed, thinking, âWhy am I not sick?â he sighed again and got back to his senses, âWhat the hell. Why would I be sick?â and went upstairs to his room. âSeems like Iâm losing my mind these days,â he thought.
