Vol. 1 Ch. 120
Shut Up, Malevolent Dragon! I Don’t Want to Have Any More Children With You
After lunch, Leon and Rosvitha found themselves chatting again while washing dishes together.
In truth, they didnât have much time to chat throughout the day.
Rosvitha was busy handling various matters for the Silver Dragon Clan, while Leon had to guide Muen in magical enlightenment.
Moreover, both of them held the mindset of âAm I so full that Iâm looking for someone to chat with?â
Their approach was essentially non-essential, non-communicative.
However, there were still some things Leon needed to clarify.
âYour birthday is coming up in a few days, and youâre going to follow human birthday customs completely, right?â Leon asked.
Rosvitha nodded. âYes.â
âOkay. Then, if you donât mind me asking, how old will you be this year?â
âEighteenââ
âYouâre eighteen?!â Leon was so excited he almost wanted to add an expletive to express his astonishment.
âTwo hundred years old.â
Rosvitha turned her head to look at him, her beautiful eyes squinting into two curved slits as she smiled.
Then she straightened up and asked, âWhat does age have to do with birthdays? Arenât they all just routines?â
Leon shook his head. âWhile the routines may generally be the same, there are still some different details.â
âDetails?â
Leon glanced at her, then lowered his head to continue washing the dishes. He didnât explain further, only saying, âYouâll find out when the time comes.â
Rosvitha pursed her lips. âBeing mysterious now, are we?â
Leon shrugged, not giving a response.
Rosvitha didnât pursue any other topics either.
After finishing the dishes, Leon didnât hurry to leave as usual. Instead, he went to Rosvithaâs balcony and looked out towards the mountains behind.
Rosvitha dried her hands and walked out of the kitchen, watching Leonâs back on the balcony. She asked, âWhat are you looking at?â@@novelbin@@
âNothing, just taking a look around.â
âWeirdâ¦â
Rosvitha muttered to herself, not pressing him further. She turned and went to the study alone, continuing to tackle the piles of work.
After some time passed, when she finally looked up to relax, she realized that Leon had already left.
Rosvitha frowned slightly. âComing and going as he pleases, treating my room as his own. Looks like Iâll have to give Mr. Leon a lesson in etiquette when I have the chance.â
The queen snorted coldly, then lowered her head to continue working at her desk.
In the afternoon, Leon took his two daughters to the library.
While preparing for Rosvithaâs birthday, Leon didnât forget about his own affairs.
He continued to search for a solution to his magic depletion in Rosvithaâs private library.
Muen obediently did the homework Leon left for her on the desk by the French windows. If there were any parts she didnât understand, Noia could explain them to her.
As evening approached, Noia found a book about young dragons for Muen to read as relaxation after class.
Immediately, she glanced towards the row of bookshelves in the library, where her father seemed to be searching for something. Noia pondered for a moment, then got off her chair and walked over slowly.
At that moment, Leon was engrossed in reading an ancient tome. âDad, are you looking for something?â Noia asked as she approached.
Upon hearing her question, Leon smiled and placed the ancient tome back in its original position. âNothing much, just browsing, passing the time.â
He didnât want his daughters to know about his magic depletion. Not only would it cause unnecessary worry for them, but it might also reach Rosvithaâs ears.
From the current situation, it seemed that Rosvitha was unaware of his magic depletion. At most, she probably thought his body hadnât fully recovered yet, which was why he hadnât been using large-scale offensive magic.
If that mother dragon were to find out his true condition, he would undoubtedly be subjected to a barrage of âyouâre so incompetentâ remarks.
Moreover, Leon understood the importance of keeping a low profile. It was better not to leak any information until he had fully recovered.
Unfortunately, despite spending the entire afternoon researching, Leon still hadnât found the source of the problem.
Just as he had initially suspected, it was going to be a long process. Luckily, Leon had enough patience when it came to âproblem-solving.â
He adjusted his mood and looked at Noia. âIs Muenâs homework done?â
âNot yet, but it will be soon,â Noia replied. Then she added, âI think with your teaching efficiency and Muenâs learning speed, she should be ready for magical enlightenment in about half a month.â
Leon nodded, his gaze drifting towards the French windows not far away where Muen was diligently doing the homework he had assigned her.
âI wonder what Muenâs innate elemental affinity will be.â
Noia also looked at her sisterâs cute and serious profile and chuckled, âWill it be fire or lightning?â
Rosvitha had previously told Leon that almost all dragonkin awakened with a natural affinity for fire. But Noia was different; she was aligned with lightning, just like Leon.
Leon had asked before if Noia, being the only one with a lightning affinity in a class full of fire elemental dragons, would face bullying or isolation.
After all, children, with their immature minds, often perceive âspecialâ and âdifferentâ as being outliers, and isolation is a common occurrence.
But Rosvitha said it wouldnât happen. She mentioned that thereâs a small probability for dragonkin to awaken with elemental affinities other than fire, and thatâs not unusual.
Leon felt relieved upon hearing this. His eyes flickered as he crouched down and asked, âSo, do you think Muen will awaken with lightning or fire?â
Noia rubbed her chin as she thought. âMomâs affinity is fire, Dadâs is lightning, and mine is also lightning⦠So, to balance Momâs feelings, if I were Muen, I would try hard to awaken the fire element.â
Leon chuckled at Noiaâs words. He affectionately ruffled her hair.
âAwakening to a particular element isnât something you can decide just by trying hard.â
Noia scratched her head and grinned. âItâs just wishful thinking. By the way, Dad, speaking of the lightning elementâ¦â
âYeah, what about it?â
âIn a little over a month, St. Hys Academy will be on winter break. During this time, Iâve learned quite a bit about basic magic, so could you teach me more about lightning magic during the break? That way, when the next semester starts, Iâll be more prepared for the schoolâs curriculum.â
Leon was taken aback. It wasnât that he was surprised that Noia had made this request. Quite the opposite, in fact.
If Noia didnât get involved in âinner competitionâ during the winter break, it wouldnât be like her personality at all.
But⦠Leon was still in a state of magic depletion, and teaching lightning magic formally would inevitably involve demonstration.
When the time came, his daughter would expect an impressive display of âThunderous Wrath,â but after struggling for a while, Leon would only manage to conjure a couple of small sparks.
Daughter: Itâs okay, Dad. Itâs still cute. Iâll go ask Mom to teach me.
No, this couldnât happen!
This kind of thing absolutely couldnât happen!
He had fought hard for his position in the family, and his place in his daughterâs heart was also something he had fought for!
There is still over a month until winter breakâ¦
Leon pursed his lips, gritted his teeth, and agreed, âAlright, no problem. Dad will teach you more about lightning magic when the time comes.â
Noiaâs eyes lit up, and her face couldnât hide her joy. She leaned forward and hugged Leonâs neck, gently kissing his cheek. âThank you, Dad!â
Noia happily ran off to find Muen.
Leon breathed a sigh of relief silently. âAfter Mother Dragonâs birthday, I need to make better use of my time.â
