Vol. 1 Ch. 185
Shut Up, Malevolent Dragon! I Don’t Want to Have Any More Children With You
âDonât move! Let me see!â
âNo, Master, please donât! You absolutely canât look there!â
âRebecca, hold him down, Iâll open his clothes!â
âYes, Dad!â
The two worked together to press the Dragon Slayer hero against the wall and opened his shirt. The dragon pattern on his chest flickered briefly twice before extinguishing.
Looking at the silver lines on the captainâs chest, Rebecca raised her eyebrows playfully and whistled, âCaptain, this magic array of yours⦠feels a bit kinky.â
âMagic array my foot, kid, what is this thing exactly?â
Leon avoided eye contact and stammered, âUm⦠just a tattoo, really just a tattoo.â@@novelbin@@
âDoes your familyâs tattoos emit purple light? Itâs obvious itâs not some regular tattoo.â Master saw through the mystery at a glance.
âHey! Thatâs not true, Master, this tattoo, though it looks kinky and unconventional, is actually a proof of love between the War God and his dragon wife,â Leon said with great seriousness.
âExplain.â
âUm⦠that canât be explained in detail.â
âWhy canât it be explained?â Master asked.
âNo need to ask, Dad, itâs obviously the captain and his dragon wifeâs couple tattoo,â Rebecca said with a knowing expression, adding with a hidden meaning, âBut the dragons have various magical tricks, who knows if this tattoo has any other purpose.â
Ah, young people these days, they seem to understand everything.
Leon quickly put on his clothes, stood up, and changed the subject, âThe other purpose is my private matter with Rosvitha. You just need to know that this tattoo is where I store my magic power.â
Rebecca rolled her eyes, âHmph, if you wonât say, then you wonât say. Iâll look up the information myself another day.â
Curiosity killed the cat, youâll regret looking it up!
The three returned to the fire pit and continued their previous discussion.
âWell, since the brat canât use magic now, we need to be more cautious with every step we take,â Teg said.
âYeah, but luckily the Empire is only sending out some dangerous types. We still have the strength to deal with them,â Leon nodded.
âWe just said the first step is to uncover the mole who framed you. How do you plan to do it?â
âLetâs start by finding Victor. Rebecca said he became a resident singer in a bar after leaving the Dragon Slayer Army. Compared to Martin, who lives with the ministers, weâre more likely to contact Victor,â Leon said.
âGood. Letâs leave it at that for today. Weâll start our operation tomorrow night.â
âYeah. Oh, by the way, Iâll take the first watch, you and Rebecca rest,â Leon offered.
Teg shook his head, âYou take the first half of the night, Iâll take the second.â
Understanding Tegâs temperament, Leon didnât argue with him. âNo problem, Master.â
âWait a minute!â Rebecca suddenly raised her hand.
âWhat is it?â
Rebecca put her hand on her chest, stroked her chin, and pretended to look serious. âSince the three of us are going to live and die together, shouldnât we come up with a group name?â
Leon and Teg exchanged a glance and shrugged in unison.
âWhat do you want to call the group?â
âGrumpy Old Man, Clueless Straight Guy, and Pretty Girl Combo, how about that?â
Leon smirked and teased, âThatâs such a straightforward name, it could almost be a thesis with a bit more length.â
âTch, then letâs call it⦠the Old, Weak, and Sick Combo!â
âOld, weak, and sick?â Leon raised an eyebrow.
Rebecca nodded, explaining logically, âDadâs getting old, so heâs old; Iâm a helpless girl, so Iâm weak; the captain canât use magic and canât figure out why, so heâs sick.â
Leon couldnât help but applaud the gunnerâs logical thinking skills. âMakes sense, very convincing. Now letâs get some sleep, helpless girl.â
Rebecca happily laid down by the fire pit, and Teg covered her with the only blanket they had. He hadnât expected Leon to return so early and bring a teammate, so their supplies like blankets werenât fully prepared. But being able to find a refuge while being wanted was already quite challenging. Leon and Rebecca both admired Teg for that.
After his master lay down, Leon slowly walked outside.
He sat on the dusty steps and looked up at the night sky.
It was a full moon.
Some bards in the empire often used the phases of the moon to symbolize the joys and sorrows of peopleâs lives. But tonight, the moon was so round, and Leon couldnât enjoy it with a certain someone.
He wondered if the moon seen by the Silver Dragon tribe, thousands of miles away, was just as roundâ¦
Lost in thought, Leon raised his hand to touch his chest.
âWhen the one with the dragon tattoo starts thinking about the other, the mark will begin to shimmer.â
So⦠was she thinking about him too?
Leon lowered his gaze and sighed.
After adjusting his mood slightly, he began to focus on keeping watch for the night.
The next morning, Leon slowly opened his eyes. âYouâre awake, Captain,â the girlâs face appeared above his line of sight.
âHmm⦠whatâs up?â Leon rubbed his eyes.
âNothing much, donât you feel your throat is a bit dry?â
Leon, puzzled, sat up. âWhatâs the problem? Huh⦠now that you mention it, it does feel a bit dry.â
Pausing for a moment, he suddenly perked up. âYou and Master didnât do anything strange to me last night while I was asleep, did you?â
Rebecca shook her head.
At this moment, the Master also walked over and stood beside Leon. âAfter you fell asleep last night, you called out several names, and each one many times.â
Leon was startled. ââ¦Whose names?â
Rebecca accurately counted, âAurora 104 times; Noia 110 times, and Muen 112 times.â
Leon breathed a sigh of relief.
Thank goodness, theyâre all my daughtersâ names.
Itâs only natural for a father away from home to mumble his daughtersâ names in his sleep, right? Itâs all out of love for them!
But then Master dropped a bomb that left Leon petrified on the spot. âRosvitha, 518 times.â
Leon: ?
âTruly a love-struck War God, Captain. Dad said you were muttering your wifeâs name so much that you were foaming at the mouth, a whopping 518 times. Tsk tsk tsk, the power of love!â
âThe hammer of love⦠just talking in your sleep, it doesnât mean anything,â Leon defensively argued.
Rebecca glanced at Teg. âDad, has your apprentice always been this stubborn?â
âYeah, when he was little, even after being kicked by a donkey, he didnât utter a word of âouch,â harder than the pancakes his master made,â Teg chuckled.
âAh, I really donât know how that Dragon Queen managed to live with such a stubborn guy for three years,â Rebecca sighed.
Is it possible that the Dragon Queen was even more stubborn than me⦠Leon chuckled awkwardly, skipping over the topic.
Since they were going to find Victor only in the evening, the three of them had plenty of time to prepare.
Teg was in charge of gathering information about the cityâs current situation; Rebecca would find a way to secure enough bullets; Leon, meanwhile, focused on devising a detailed action plan. With some rare quiet time, he could draft several strategies to unmask the traitor.
Three years had passed, and the moment of revealing the truth was drawing near.
