Vol. 2 Ch. 22
Shut Up, Malevolent Dragon! I Don’t Want to Have Any More Children With You
Something was wrong.
Very wrong.
Everyone knew that whenever Rosvisser had a new trick or some devious plan, sheâd resort to this clumsy beauty trap to make Leon lower his guard so she could achieve her hidden agenda.@@novelbin@@
The moment Rosvisser leaned in, Leon immediately snapped back to clarity, inwardly relieved that he had almost fallen for this dragonessâs wiles.
He pushed her away from his shoulder, looking serious. "Dragon queen, you need to show some respect. Iâm devoted to purity and detached from worldly desires, donât even think about breaking my moral resolve."
Oh, look at him, trying to act all virtuous.
Whatâs this âdevoted to purity and detached from desiresâ nonsense? Anyone who didnât know better might think youâve joined a monastery.
While Leon said that, he turned his head away, refusing to look at Rosvisser.
The beauty trap might be obvious, but the beauty herself? Far from ineffective.
When around Rosvisser, Leon had to guard not only against his words betraying him, but also against his eyes leading him astray.
With her delicate face pouting at him like thatâwho could resist?
Rosvisser, seeing this, didnât seem flustered. Instead, she casually followed his lead and continued,
âIf you are truly so pure, why canât you look at me?â
She didnât move closer to Leon this time. Instead, she gently rested her hand on his shoulder.
âI only mentioned, in passing, that we should get a bigger throne. Not just for more comfort when sitting, but for things like... a nap, perhaps.â
Her smile widened as she lightly traced his earlobe with her fingertip. âWhere did your mind wander off to? Surely not somewhere naughty?â
âI wasnâtââ
Leon was about to retort, but then remembered why he had come to find Rosvisser in the first place. It wasnât to discuss the âversatilityâ of a throne, but to ask where their daughters were.
Now that he knew where they were, there was no point in staying here with the dragon queen any longer. Staying too long might lead him to become her stress-relief puppet again.
Getting Aurora to say âdaddyâ was far more important.
With this thought, Leon pulled away from her hand and stood up. âI wasnât thinking anything. You should get back to work, and Iâll go find our daughters.â
*Sigh...*
After all this, Leon still planned to go âbrainwashâ Aurora.
No wayâshe had to keep stalling him.
âAs if Iâd let you go so easily,â Rosvisser said.
Leon raised his hands. âIâll only be a distraction to your work.â
âYou wonât be,â Rosvisser replied, glancing at the reports and documents on her desk as a new idea sparked in her mind. âIn fact, Iâll teach you something.â
Leon raised an eyebrow. âTeach me what?â
Rosvisser nodded toward the pile of papers on the desk, âIâll teach you how to handle these things.â
Leonâs face filled with confusion.
âWhy would a human like me handle Silver Dragon Clan affairs? Youâre not even paying me.â
âTo me, youâre human; but to Anna and the others, youâre the prince. Remember that time during the winter when I was pregnant with Aurora and we had that whole escape plan?â
Leon thought for a moment and quickly remembered what she was referring to.
At the time, Rosvisser had been heavily pregnant, and Anna, concerned for her safety, had refused to let her leave the sanctuary.
So, Rosvisser and Leon concocted an elaborate plan to escape.
The plan was meticulous and flawless, but in the end, it failed.
The reason for the failure was that Anna became suspicious when Leon, who had never shown interest in politics, suddenly wanted to inspect her work. Sensing something off, she caught the escaping queen red-handed.
Leon nodded, âI remember. So what?â
âIt was because you were so half-hearted about it, saying you wanted to inspect Annaâs work, that she got suspicious and caught me.â
âThat was *your* idea! I didnât say a word; I was just going along with you. And thereâs no âhalf-heartedâ about itâI wasnât supposed to do it in the first place, so how is that half-hearted?â
âYouââ
Leonâs argument was so logical that for a moment, Rosvisser didnât know how to rebut him.
As she watched him about to leave the sanctuary and go after their daughters, Rosvisser bit her lip, her mind racing to find a way to make him stay.
Since reasoning wasnât working, sheâd have to play the emotional card!
*Sigh...* The queen let out a heavy sigh, sounding both physically and mentally drained.
Leon, halfway turned, heard the deep sigh and stopped in his tracks. He turned back. âWhat is it?â
Rosvisser propped one hand against her forehead, her other hand flipping through the mountain of reports on her desk. Her voice was weary as she said,
âNothing really. My husband has his own things to do, and as his wife, I shouldnât be unreasonable. Itâs okay, Iâll manage the work myself. Iâll probably be very tired, but...â
She then looked up at Leon with squinted eyes, smiling faintly, âYou go spend time with the girls. Donât worry about me. Iâll prepare lunch for everyone when Iâm done.â
â...â
You, dragon queen, are *this* close to manipulating me!
Do you think I canât see through you?
Fine, fine, getting Aurora to say âdaddyâ can wait, but I wonât let you continue this act, making it seem like I donât care about you at allâ
Even though I donât really want to care, if you collapse from exhaustion, the girls will be worried.
With his mind once again making excuses for showing concern, Leon sat back down next to her.
âAlright, fine. Teach me.â
Rosvisser smiled, pleased. She casually picked up a few reportsâones that didnât involve Silver Dragon Clan secrets, just some routine documents. It didnât hurt for Leon to look at them.
It wasnât that she didnât trust him; rather, revealing internal clan matters would only add unnecessary burdens to him. Plus, Leon was a beginner in the power struggle gameâshe couldnât rush him. He needed to ease into it step by step.
To be honest, aside from not wanting him to find Aurora, Rosvisser herself wasnât entirely sure why she wanted to teach him this stuff.
He was a human, after all, and her former enemy...
They say, âteaching the student may starve the master,â but teaching an enemy... wasnât that just inviting trouble?
So why did she feel compelled to do this?
Did she hope he could protect himself in the future amidst the inevitable schemes and power plays?
Or was it something else entirely?
She didnât know.
For now... sheâd teach him.
Not like he was going to master these things overnight anywayâLeon wasnât exactly quick in matters of governance.
Rosvisser dismissed her wandering thoughts and began seriously teaching Leon how to manage the daily affairs.
Even though Leon had previously said this wasnât his responsibility, once he started learning, he was exceptionally focused.
When it came to learning, no matter the subject, Leon always gave it his all. It was the hallmark of a true scholar.
The couple sat side by side, exchanging questions and answers in soft voices, occasionally breaking into playful jokes.
For once, the usually cold and quiet Silver Dragon Sanctuary seemed to gain a bit of warmth.
