Vol. 3 Ch. 42
Shut Up, Malevolent Dragon! I Don’t Want to Have Any More Children With You
Now that Leon's three beloved daughters had successfully enrolled at St. Heith Academy, they were embarking on rigorous studiesâpreparing for the day they might defeat dragon slayers just like their father.@@novelbin@@
For some reason, every time Leon thought about this, a wave of inexplicable sadness washed over him.
He had thought that teaching Aurora everything she needed to know, only for her to turn around and outshine her father by taking first place in the entrance exam, was the peak of a daughterâs unintentional betrayal.
But then he realized, years from now, when his daughters graduate, they might very well use their father as their final project...
Ah, well, so be it.
In the end, despite all the bumps and twists, his daughters would learn invaluable skills. That, at least, was undeniable.
Today was Monday, and all three daughters were away at the academy.
He wouldnât see them again until Friday night.
Five days. The only other time Leon had been apart from his daughters for so long was when he had returned to the Empire to deal with traitors.
Apart from that, he saw them almost every day.
Now that his daughters were all suddenly out of the house, Leon found it hard to adjust.
That evening, Leon lay on the lounge chair on the balcony, staring at the quiet night sky, wondering if his little girls were also getting ready for bed.
After a while, he heard light footsteps approaching from behind.
Rosvisser slowly walked over and placed two cups on the small wooden table.
Leon glanced at them and said, âIâm not really in the mood for alcohol tonight.â
Alcohol was useful in certain moments, helping to temporarily forget worries and troubles. But Leon wasnât interested in using it to numb himself tonight. He didnât mind letting himself sink into his thoughts of missing his daughters.
âItâs not alcohol, itâs tea.â
âTea? I thought you never drank tea?â
Rosvisser held a pot of hot tea, pouring it into the two cups.
Steam rose from the cups, carrying a rich fragrance that filled the air. Even to someone who wasnât a tea connoisseur, it was clear this was top-quality.
âItâs part of this yearâs model family reward. Vice Principal Wilson specially requested it from Principal Ollett.â
â...Alright, I guess trading public humiliation for a good bag of tea isnât the worst deal.â
Rosvisserâs eyes sparkled as she raised two fingers. âCorrection, it wasnât onceâit was twice.â
Leon raised an eyebrow. âTwice?â
âDid you forget? A few days ago, after the interview, you kissed me in front of everyone to prove to the vice principal that you loved me. Doesnât that count?â
â...â
The queen smiled lightly as she gracefully sat down, taking a small sip from her cup.
It was indeed a fine tea.
âRosvisser, why do I feel like youâre not only unfazed by the public embarrassment but actually... enjoying it?â
Rosvisser looked out at the night view, the starlight reflecting in her silver eyes. She smiled slightly, responding lazily, âAm I?â
âHow could you not be?â Leon confirmed his suspicions. âEven at the entrance ceremony, when I kissed you, you didnât even think about resisting!â
Rosvisser slowly turned her head to meet his eyes. âWhy, Leon? Were you hoping Iâd resist your affectionate gestures?â
âUh...â
âWell, fine. From now on, donât touch me. Not even hand-holding.â
âN-no, thatâs not okay...â
âHmph, idiot.â
She said the word âidiotâ perfectly, then took another sip of tea while continuing to enjoy the view.
There was a moment of silence before Leon spoke again, âI think I get it now.â
âOh? What do you understand?â she asked.
âYou just wanted to show off our love in front of others, didnât you?â
âDid I?â
âYes,â Leon nodded firmly.
âI wonât admit it. Hehe.â
âHey you!ââ
Leon had guessed her intentions correctly, but of course, she wouldnât admit it.
Naturally, Rosvisser wasnât trying to hide this little thought of hers.
She wanted Leon to figure it out.
And then she would stubbornly deny it.
That way, she could enjoy the look of frustration and helplessness on Leonâs face. It was just too adorableâshe could never get enough of it!
Leonâs mind quickly caught up, realizing the queenâs intention.
âYouâve got three kids, and youâre still this devious?â
âHah, this isnât being devious,â she replied.
âThen what is it?â
âItâs called fun.â
Leonâs mouth twitched at the explosive word, âF-fun...â
âYes, fun. Couples need a bit of fun, donât they?â
She turned slightly, propping her chin on her hand and looking at Leon.
Her silver eyes blinked playfully, paired with a seductive smile that could mesmerize anyone.
âEven if itâs a fake marriage, we still need fun,â she teased.
â...Immature.â
She didnât deny it.
After a long day of being the responsible queen, what was wrong with being a little immature at night?
Besides, Leon wasnât an outsider. She didnât mind being a little silly around him.
âNow finish your tea. Weâve got more fun waiting.â
âMore fun?â
âOf course. The night is long, little lion. Weâve got plenty of time to kill.â
Leon glanced down at the cup of tea on the table.
Could drinking tea make you drunk?
If not, why was this dragon queen starting to heat up again?
Well, the daughters werenât home, so he might as well humor her and see what she was planning.
Leon picked up his tea and drank it all in one go.
âCome, back to the bedroom.â
Rosvisser got up, slipping into her dragon-wing slippers, and walked toward the bedroom.
Not knowing what was happening, Leon followed her inside.
When they reached the bedroom, Leon reached to turn on the lights, but Rosvisser stopped him.
âWait, donât turn on that light.â
Instead, she found another switch and flipped it on. The room was instantly filled with a warm, amber glow.
The light was dim but atmospheric, one might even call it... romantic.
This kind of lighting was typically used for dates.
Leon leaned against the doorway with his hands in his pockets, eyeing her with amusement.
âYou call this a fun trick? Please, weâve been together for so long. How about some surprises?â
Living with this dragon queen for so long, General Leon had seen it all. Did she really think dimming the lights would do the trick?
What a joke.
âDonât be impatient,â Rosvisser said as she walked over to a phonograph.
She turned it on, and soft music began to play.
âWhat kind of music do you like?â
âWhatever, I donât have an artistic side.â
Leon truly didnât have any artistic leanings, though he had heard quite a bit of music growing up. His masterâs house had a phonograph, and his masterâs wife loved listening to music, so they had plenty of records.
Most of them were obscure symphonies that only the royal family or nobles could appreciate.
Leon never understood why his masterâs wife liked those highbrow pieces, but whenever she listened, he listened too.
âHmm... Letâs try this one,â Rosvisser said, switching the record.
The music was solemn and heavy, with a strong, forceful rhythm. It was another symphony.
Leon thought it sounded familiar.
After a brief moment, he realized, âIsnât this from one of the Empireâs famous composers?â
âYes, Iâm impressed you recognized it.â
Leon shrugged. âItâs not that hard.â
âHmph, then try this one,â she said, swapping the record.
Leon immediately recognized another piece from the Empire.
As she continued changing records, Leon guessed every single one correctly, without fail.
âRosvisser, are you trying to play a game of âguess the composerâ? Thatâs too easy. If youâre trying to challenge me, youâre doomed to lose.â
Rosvisser raised her elegant eyebrows, amused. Ah, the man was once again seeing this as a âcompetitionâ between them.
Hmm... fine.
She loved nothing more than knocking Leon down when he thought he was winning.
That was something that hadnât changed since the day she met him.
âAlright, it seems I canât stump you. I only have one record left. Letâs see if you can recognize this one.â
âBring it on. Iâm unbeatable!â
âOh? Such a strong desire to win. Thatâs not a good thing~â
âWeâre the same. You only say that when youâre about to lose, right?â
âHehe... Well, how about we make a little bet, like before?â
Confident and certain, General Leon said, âSure, what are we betting?â
âSimple. Just one request, like always.â
âNo problem.â
Rosvisser smiled, then put on the last record.
As soon as the intro began, Leonâs brows furrowed.
This piece was completely different from the previous ones.
It was more cheerful and lively, not a symphony but... more like a dance track.
Leon racked his brain.
He had definitely heard this somewhere before, but it wasnât from his masterâs phonograph.
Where was it from...?
âCanât remember, little walking music library?â Rosvisser teased.
âHold on, let me listen a bit more.â
But by the time the music ended, Leon still couldnât recall where he had heard it, let alone the composer or title.
Clickâ
Rosvisser turned off the phonograph, crossing her arms as she leaned casually
against the table.
She tilted her head, her silver hair falling gracefully to one side, âThis teaches us one thing, doesnât it? Never boast before youâve won, right, little lion~?â
Leonâs expression darkened.
Damn it. He had been tricked by this dragon queen again.
How did she manage to pick such an obscure piece? Heâd definitely heard it before, but couldnât place it.
Just as he was thinking, Rosvisser slipped off her shoes and walked toward him barefoot, her smooth, pale feet softly padding across the floor.
She stood before him, lifting her slender arms to gently wrap them around his neck.
âSo... whatâs your request?â
âNo rush. Before that, let me help you remember the song.â
Moonlight poured in, casting a glow over the queenâs long hair, like a galaxy spilling across her back.
âAt the Empireâs Dragon-Slaying Academy graduation ball, you accepted a dance invitation from a senior. She was the only girl you hesitated to refuse out of all the ones who asked.â
âYou liked her appearance, but after a short interaction, you realized she wasnât what you wanted.â
âAnd the dance you shared with her at your graduation... was to this very song.â
âSeems like the impression that senior left on you was stronger than the song itself~â
âSo... dear husband, are you ready?â
âIâm about to get serious.â
