Xi Xiaye saved her file and switched off the laptop as she replied, “Mmm, Gu Lingsha came to look for me before, so I knew she was going to make Qi Lei come and ask for them from me, as expected.”

She got up and slowly walked towards him. Mu Yuchen raised his eyebrows and just looked at her before he moved over slightly and made space for her.

Xi Xiaye sat down beside him and grabbed the glass of water to drink some. He said, “That’s a pretty big deal. Nevertheless, be bold about this. Grandpa and Hua Heng made them pay a huge price the last time. You could use the same trick again. I realize you’ve been enlightened, taking your sweet revenge now, hmm?”

She grinned and put the glass of water away. “Aren’t you worried that I might become a wicked woman?”

“That’s what comes after, and I’ll leave that to you. Meanwhile, I’ll do my best to gather more information.” Xi Xiaye closed the file in front of him. “It’s getting late now. Let’s go to bed.”

Qi Lei nodded as he put on a gentle smile. “It’s almost there. We’ll be able to start filming after some time. Don’t worry because the other stages of progress won’t be affected.”
