Chapter 339
The First Heir
That day, Philip was ready to find Anne at the hospital.
He had promised to take a look at her brotherâs condition.
On the way, Philip pondered about it before buying some fruits. It would be rude to visit empty-handed.
When he arrived at the hospital, it was about three in the afternoon. Seeing Philip, Anne was a little
bashful as she said, âMr. Philip, you really donât have to. I feel bad for you having to come all the way.â
Philip smiled and said, âItâs nothing. However, itâs a secret between you and me. Donât tell Miss Wynn.
Letâs go. Take me to see your brother.â
Anne was a whole head shorter than Philip. Even though the young woman was pretty, her face was a
little waxy. She had most probably overworked herself.
Such a young woman like that often made people feel sorry for her.
Anne led Philip to the sixth floor of the inpatient department. The floor was exclusively reserved for
patients with leukemia. There were both adults and children.
Philip looked around and saw a lot of family members who looked miserable. Some of them were even
sobbing into their phones in the corners of their respective wards.
Sigh, what a harsh reality.
When the two arrived at the ward that belonged to Anneâs brother, they were unable to find him even
after looking around.
Consequently, Anne started to panic. She asked a few nurses but it was to no avail as none of them
had seen him.
Upon hearing this, Anneâs expression changed, and she hurriedly ran toward a corner.
On the other hand, Philip chased after her.
In front of a bald little boy who was hiding behind a pillar, Anne squatted down and asked frantically,
âWhy did you run out on your own again? Didnât I tell you to wait for me before I get here?â
It was obvious that the little boy had been crying moments ago. However, he smiled staunchly and
said, âAnne, I donât want to stay here anymore. Iâm cured. I want to go home now.â
Anne took a deep breath, and tears started to well up in her eyes. She held the little boy tightly and
shook her head. She said, âTrust me. We can cure you, okay?â
The little boy caressed Anneâs face and shook his head. He replied, âAnne, I really donât want to
undergo any more treatment. We no longer have any money. I donât want to see you working day and
night just for me. You must be exhausted. I want to go back. I donât want to stay here anymore.â
The little boy was Anneâs brother, and his words were heartbreaking.
He was so young yet so sensible.
âLittle guy, donât worry about the money. Just undergo the treatment, your sister will find a way.â
Philip walked over and said while shaking the fruits and presents in his hands.
The little boy looked at Philip and then back at Anne in confusion; he was clueless as to who Philip
was.
Philip grinned. âI am a good friend of your sister.â
The little boy was smart. He pulled Anne to one side and lowered his voice as he whispered in Anneâs
ear, âAnne, is he your boyfriend? He looks a bit too old.â
Anne blushed and turned around to look at Philip. She said, âNo, stop spouting nonsense. Heâs Mr.
Philip, the guy Iâve been telling you is always extremely good to me.â
When the little boy heard this, he was disappointed. âI thought you finally found a boyfriend, Anne. So
someone would be there to take care of you when Iâm not here.â
Anne shook her head. Her eyes were red as she held the little boy in her arms. She said, âYou idiot. Iâll
never find a boyfriend. Iâll stay with you forever.â
The little boy smiled and then ran over to Philip before bowing to him. âThank you, sir. My sister told me
that youâre always treating her very well. When I get better, Iâll definitely repay you.â
Philip was not expecting the little boy to be so sensible. He chuckled and said, âAlright, Iâll wait for you.
However, before that, you have to listen to Anne and the doctors so you can have a faster recovery.â
The little boy shook his head and looked at the hospital room aggrievedly. Then, he lowered his head,
pulled Anne outside, and said, âAnne, letâs go home. I want to go home.â
Right then, a loud, aggravated voice was heard from one side, âJust go home and be done with it! Stop
being a dog in the manger. You donât have enough money, and you still want to come to the hospital.â
When Philip heard this, his expression changed. He turned around and said angrily to the man, âWhat
did you say?â
The man looked at Philip from head to toe and said in frustration, âWhat I just said is none of your
business. Why? Are you trying to chat up the pretty girl? If you donât have the money to treat your
illness, get lost. He has already been kicked out of his ward, and heâs still squatting here. What a sore
sight!â
Philipâs face became extremely dark.
No wonder the boy had insisted on going home earlier. It seemed like he was being kicked out of the
hospital.
Was it because they could not afford the hospital bill?
Philip recalled that Mila was almost kicked out of the hospital because he did not have any money
either.
He felt extremely sorry for Anne and Mason.
Nevertheless, that was not the reason why Philip was angry. He was mad at the manâs humiliation and
condemnation.
Philipâs face turned cold and he snorted. âDo you own this hospital? What does his whereabouts have
to do with you? Youâre an adult. Are you not ashamed for having said such things?â
The man sat on his chair with one leg over the other. He looked malicious. Immediately, he started to
berate Philip sarcastically, âWhy? Are you not satisfied? Youâre just a penniless fool, yet you still want to
come to the hospital. If itâs not wasting the resources of the hospital and the efforts of the doctors, what
is it? Why should we rich people wait?â
F*ck!
Who was this man? How dare he argue with him?
His brother-in-law was the department head of the hospital!
