Chapter 80
The First Heir
Samuelâs expression darkened even more after seeing how overbearing the other party was. He gritted
his teeth and said angrily, âMr. Clarke, please forgive where you may. Thereâs no need to be so
extreme.â
Philip stared back quietly.
Samuel could not hold himself back anymore and lashed out in rage. âPhilip Clarke, donât you dare
push your luck! I have been dealing in Riverdale for many years now. My net worth is beyond hundreds
of millions! The people I know are those you absolutely canât afford to provoke! If you know whatâs best
for you, leave this as it is, otherwise, Iâll be fighting you to the very end!â
He was truly enraged.
He had never suffered such an injustice in his life before. Even after taking a step back, the other party
still refused to yield a step.
However, Philip remained silent.
âAlright, just wait and see!â
With that, Samuel dug out his phone and dialed Johannâs number. âBrother Johann, you must help me
out! Thereâs a kid whoâs determined to mess with me!â
On the other end of the phone, Johann was in his study. With a sullen face, he replied, âHand him the
phone. Iâll talk to him.â
Samuelâs eyes flashed and he quickly passed the phone to Philip. âHe wants to speak to you.â He
snorted.
Samuel knew that he would be fine as long as Brother Johann stepped out.
He believed that nobody could beat Brother Johann!
Hence, he quickly added. âMr. Clarke, I hope that youâll make a wise decision after answering this call.â
Philip cast Samuel a nonchalant glance before accepting the phone and held it by his ear.
Laughter sounded from the other end of the phone. âMr. Clarke, what kind of trouble are you trying to
stir up on this night? If Samuel and his son have done something that has offended you, let me
apologize now on their behalf. How about that?â
Philip replied calmly, âMr. Sullivan, what do you think will happen if evidence of your bribes and
fraudulent bending of laws are exposed?â
It came at the least expected time.
Philipâs words pounded on Johannâs chest like a heavy hammer!
Johann immediately panicked.
He knew!
This man knew what he had done!
Bang!
Johann stood up from his seat abruptly as his voice deepened. His eyes went dark and cold in an
instant. âMr. Clarke, if you donât have proof of what youâre saying, this is slander.â
â03762,â Philip spat out each digit slowly as he looked at the other phone in his hand.
Johann, on the other hand, immediately fell into his seat as his legs gave way. His eyes were filled with
fear and panic while cold sweat formed across his forehead.
How was this possible?
This was his Swiss bank account!
Only he knew about the existence of this account, not even his wife knew about it!
Though somehow, this man found out about it!
What kind of power did this man have and where did he come from?
Seeing his straightforward manner, it was obvious that this man already knew about his secret deal
with Samuel.
âMr. Clarke, I think thereâs still room for us to discuss,â Johann pleaded anxiously as his legs began to
tremble violently. âMr. Clarke, I wonât meddle in your business with Samuel anymore, but why donât we
meet each other and have a talk?â
It was time to give up a rook and save the king!
âGoodnight,â Philip replied coldly before passing the phone back to Samuel.
Samuel had a smirk on his face. Although he was unsure what had happened over the phone call, his
past experiences told him that as long as he had Johann to back him up, nothing was impossible.
When he took the phone back in his hands, he quickly said, âBrother Johann, you always have a
wayâ¦â
However, a loud bang that sounded like a door being burst open came from the phone.
âJohann Sullivan, you are a suspect of bribery and embezzlement. You are officially arrested. Please
cooperate with us in our investigation!â
Thud!
The phone fell to the floor.
An alarming thought immediately weighed upon Samuelâs mind.
Was Johann caught?
How did this happen so quickly!
Johann was his backbone, the one always backing him up!
Samuel felt a stinging pinch to his spine. All of a sudden, he fell to the floor. He stared up at Philip with
panic in his eyes as he stuttered, âYou⦠Did you do this?â
Philip did not respond. He merely looked at the time and sent a text to George. âItâs time.â
Seeing the short, simple text, George quickly dialed a number he had prepared earlier.
All it took was three minutes.
Samuel began receiving multiple phone calls for help.
âMr. Warren, something bad has happened! Our angel investors withdrew their investment. We lost 20
million!â
âMr. Warren, Iâm calling from New York. Our Series B funding fell through!â
âMr. Warren, something terrible happened! The Bureau of Industry and Commerce and the Commercial
Crime Investigation Department are here to investigate us. What should we do?â
One phone call after another, each of them bearing bad news!
Samuel remained slumped on the ground, his face as pale as a white sheet.
He was finished. Everything was over now!
âDad, whatâs going on? Dad, come on, say something!â Seeing the state his father was in, Wesley was
shaking with fright.
Samuel suddenly jumped up and began giving Wesley bashes and kicks. He yelled, âYou will be the
death of me, you unfilial son! Iâll make sure that I beat you to death!â
The scene was total chaos.
Samuel began beating his son until the police arrived. They were both taken into the police car.
As the police car left the scene, everyone turned to Philip with a look of admiration in their eyes.
This man was amazing!
Agnes was tense. She had not expected Philip to have such courage and power!
She was by the sidelines the whole time, so she fully witnessed everything Philip had done.
This man was truly mysterious!
