Chapter 90
The First Heir
Philip walked in and placed the lunch box on the table. Then, he picked up an apple and began peeling
it while listening to Juan and Wynnâs conversation in silence.
Juan and Wynn pretended that they did not see Philip, treating him like he was thin air.
âAre you sure, Brother Juan? Itâs Professor⦠Professor Henry Turner?â Wynn appeared to be
unusually excited, her eyes sparkling like stars and her gaze burning.
She knew about Henry Turner. He was regarded as the top cardiologist internationally with the title of
being a medical titan.
Back when Mila first got diagnosed, Wynn had looked up all relevant information.
It could be said that Professor Henry Turner was the sage of the medical profession.
If they really could get him to treat Mila, then her illness would be 100% curable.
However, the catch was that they would have to manage to hire him.
Not anyone could meet with a medical titan.
Wynn knew profoundly how much energy and how many connections must have been used to get
Professor Henry Turner to take a look at Milaâs condition.
Wynn would not be able to return this favor.
The corners of Juanâs lips curled into a smile as he said generously, âDonât worry Wynn, Iâve always
thought of Mila as my daughter. Her business is my business. It just so happens that Professor Henry
is in Riverdale for an inspection. You should know something about it, itâs at the Riverdale branch of
Turner hospital. Your company should have been in contact with them before.
âBesides, my father has a personal relationship with Professor Turner. So donât worry, Iâll help you
make sure that everything about Milaâs surgery is seen to.â
Juanâs face was full of smiles, his expression sincere.
In front of Wynn, as long as it was something she liked, Juan would do his best to get it done.
However, he had only one goal, which was to get Wynn for himself.
Philip, who was witnessing the entire thing, felt very unhappy.
What did he mean by thinking of Mila as his daughter?
What right did he have to say that?
Naturally, Wynn was slightly embarrassed, but her feelings of gratitude overpowered her feelings of
embarrassment as she said thankfully, âBrother Juan, thank you so much.â
While saying that, she shifted her gaze slightly sideways to look at Philip who was peeling apples at the
side. She felt somewhat helpless and disappointed.
She could not believe that he, a father, was paying less attention to his daughterâs condition than an
outsider.
Just at that moment.
Philipâs phone rang. After taking a glance at the caller ID, he turned to walk out of the room.
âMr. Clarke, Iâll be reaching the hospital shortly. Where are you?â The sound of Henry Turnerâs
respectful tone came through the phone. He sounded exceptionally excited.
Philip knitted his brows together as he said, âIâm at ward 1302, but donât come here. Wait for me at the
rest area.â
For the sake of preventing unnecessary trouble, Philip decided to meet him in private.
âOkay, okay. Iâll be there in five minutes,â Henry said as he waited for Philip to hang up the phone first.
When he returned to the ward, Juan asked snarkily, âPhilip, who were you talking to? If youâre too busy,
you can go back first. After all, punctuality is very important when delivering food. Iâll take care of Wynn
here.â
Juan was not treating himself as an outsider at all.
On the other hand, Philip had no standing at all in front of Juan.
Watching the scene unfold, Wynnâs lips fluttered as she wanted to open her mouth, but she held back.
What use was there in speaking up for him? He was still the same person.
However, something surprising happened.
Philip smiled as he said, âI got a doctor for Mila, so I was asking him some questions earlier. Heâll be
coming over shortly to take a look.â
As soon as this was said, Wynnâs heart, which had been unflustered all this while, suddenly began
fluttering. She raised her eyebrows as her sparkling eyes stared at Philip.
Howeverâ¦
Juan instantly sneered as he said to Philip, âYou, getting a doctor for Mila? What kind of doctor can you
get? Do you know what Milaâs condition is? Is it something that any doctor can treat?â
The glimmer in Wynnâs eyes faded after hearing Juanâs sharp reply.
That was true. What kind of doctor could Philip get to treat Milaâs illness?
Could they be any better than Professor Henry Turner?
Still, it was not a bad thing that he was concerned about Milaâs condition.
At the very least, there was still a soft spot for Philip in Wynnâs heart.
Philip pursed his lips as he said indifferently, âWhy canât I? Mila is my daughter. Is there anything wrong
with me getting her a doctor?â
He was very upset with Juanâs attitude.
The man was acting as if Mila was his blood daughter.
âAlright, Iâd like to see how awesome the doctor you found is.â Juan stepped forward and patted Philip
on the shoulder. There was a provocative look in his eyes. âIt just so happens that I have an
appointment with Professor Turner as well. Why donât we meet him together? Get the doctor that you
found to join us as well, and weâll get them both to come up with a treatment plan. Weâll choose the
best plan to move forward with.â
All this talk about choosing the best was just another reason for Juan to humiliate Philip.
In his knowledge, Professor Henry Turner, whom his father had contacted through his connections,
was a medical titan.
Was there anyone else in the world more powerful than him?
