Little Love

Lucas clung to Amari's hoodie sleeve as they walked down the sidewalk together, the late afternoon sun casting a soft golden glow over them. His fingers fidgeted with the fabric, his tiny hands barely making a dent in the oversized material.

Amari glanced down at him with a smirk. "Y'good, baby?"

Lucas nodded quickly, though his cheeks were pink. "'M good..." His voice was small, barely above a whisper. He peeked up at Amari through his lashes. "D-daddy?"

Amari's smirk softened into a smile. "Yeah, tiny?"

Lucas rocked on his heels, looking away shyly. "...W-we goin' on a date?"

Amari chuckled, ruffling Lucas's soft hair. "You wanna call it a date?"

Lucas nodded quickly, biting his lip. "'Cause... 'cause you my daddy now... an' I wanna be wiff you... a-and we goin' to froggy yogurt..."

"Froggy yogurt?" Amari snickered, shaking his head. "You mean Frozen Frog?"

Lucas pouted. "'S da same."

Amari laughed, wrapping an arm around Lucas's tiny frame and pulling him close. "Alright, baby. It's a date then."

Lucas squeaked happily, clinging to Amari's hoodie tighter. His little heart fluttered in his chest.

Inside Frozen Frog, the familiar scent of vanilla, chocolate, and fresh fruit filled the air. Lucas bounced on his toes, looking up at the wall of flavors with wide, sparkling eyes. His tiny hands reached for Amari's arm.

"Daddy! Dey gots new fwavor!" he babbled excitedly, tugging at Amari's sleeve. "Wook, wook! Banana puddin'! I wan' dat one!"

Amari grinned, watching Lucas practically wiggle with excitement. "Yeah? That's the one you want, baby?"

Lucas nodded quickly. "Uh-huh! Wiff da teddy grahams on top! An' da marshymewwos! An' da caramel syrup! An'Ҁ”"

Amari chuckled, gently placing a finger against Lucas's lips. "Breathe, tiny. One thing at a time."

Lucas blinked, then let out a tiny giggle behind Amari's finger. "Sowwy, daddy."

Amari shook his head fondly. "You're too cute, baby." He ruffled Lucas's hair again before leading him to the counter. "Aight, let's get your sugar rush started."

Lucas practically vibrated as Amari made his frozen yogurt just the way he wanted, piling it high with his favorite toppings.

When they finally sat down, Lucas swung his legs under the table, happily munching on a teddy graham before looking up at Amari with big, adoring eyes.

"Daddy?"

Amari raised an eyebrow. "Yeah, baby?"

Lucas hesitated, poking at his yogurt with his spoon. Then, in a tiny voice, he mumbled, "...You weally okay bein' my daddy?"

Amari tilted his head, setting his spoon down. "Yeah, baby. Why wouldn't I be?"

Lucas squirmed in his seat. "'Cause... 'm weally little sometimes... an' I wike stuff dat most peoples don' wike... an' I gotsҀ”" He trailed off, curling into himself.

Amari reached over, tilting Lucas's chin up so their eyes met. His brown eyes were warm, filled with something steady and sure.

"Listen, tiny," he murmured, his voice gentle. "I don't care what other people think. You bein' little, needin' a daddy... that don't change nothin' for me. You're still you. And I like you, just the way you are."

Lucas's heart swelled.

His little fingers gripped Amari's sleeve again, holding on tightly.

"...I wike you too, daddy."

Amari smiled, leaning down to press a kiss to Lucas's forehead. "Yeah, I know, baby."

Lucas melted into the touch, his tummy filling with warm, happy butterflies.

Everything felt perfect.
