Little Love
Lucas stretched his arms with a little yawn, feeling way better than he had a few days ago. His tummy didn't hurt anymore, and his head wasn't all fuzzy. He still felt a little small, but at least he wasn't stuck in bed.
Amari leaned against his locker with a smirk. "Look at you, all healthy again," he teased, reaching out to ruffle Lucas' hair.
Lucas pouted but giggled. "Mmmhmm! No more sickie baby!"
"Good, 'cause I got a big game on Friday, and I want my baby to come watch."
Lucas' eyes widened. "F-Fri'day? With all da big boys runnin' 'round?"
Amari chuckled, wrapping an arm around his shoulder. "Yeah, baby. You'll be safe in the stands with your mommy and my parents. I want you there, Loo-Loo."
Lucas blushed at the nickname but nodded excitedly. "Otay! I be good boy an' watch Daddy play!"
Amari kissed the top of his head. "That's my baby."

Friday came fast, and Lucas sat in the bleachers with Mrs. Min and Amari's parents. His little hands held onto a big cup of blue slushie, his legs swinging.
"There's our boy," Amari's dad said, pointing as Amari ran onto the field in his jersey, number 7 bold on his back.
Lucas bounced a little, waving even though Amari couldn't see him yet. "Daddy looks so cool!" he whispered excitedly to Mrs. Min.
She smiled and patted his knee. "He's been working so hard for this, sweetie. College scouts are watching."
Lucas' eyes got wide. "Wike, big big boys wookin' at Daddy?"
Amari's mom chuckled. "That's right, sweetheart. If he does well, he might get a scholarship."
Lucas clapped his hands together. "Go Daddy go!!!"

The game was intense, but Amari was everywhere on the field. He was fast, strong, and focused. Lucas watched closely, eyes big, sucking on his straw as Amari made an incredible play, dodging past defenders and running straight into the end zone.
"TOUCHDOWN!"
The crowd exploded, and Lucas squealed, jumping up and down. "DADDY DID IT!!"
Amari's dad grinned, nudging Lucas' shoulder. "You might be his biggest fan, kiddo."
Lucas giggled, face so full of pride.

After the game, Amari ran straight to the stands, his jersey damp with sweat, his helmet tucked under his arm.
Lucas bounced excitedly. "DADDY DADDY DADDY!"
Amari laughed and reached up, grabbing Lucas by the waist and lifting him over the railing. Lucas squeaked but giggled, wrapping his arms around Amari's neck.
"You saw me out there, baby?" Amari asked, spinning him just a little.
Lucas nuzzled into him. "Uh-huh! You was soooo fast!!"
Mrs. Min and Amari's parents walked over, smiling proudly. Amari's dad clapped a hand on his son's shoulder. "You made us proud tonight, son."
Amari grinned, hugging Lucas tighter. "Just had to make sure my baby was watching."
Lucas beamed. "I always watch my Daddy."
And in that moment, Amari knewรขยยno matter where football took him, Lucas would always be right there, cheering him on.
