Chapter 20: Settling In

The Ruthless King's Claim [Completed]

Kiara’s POV

The rest of the morning passed in a blur of introductions, laughter, and warmth. Though I’d been nervous about meeting Reyaansh’s family, their kindness slowly put me at ease. Even Aarav’s teasing and Riya’s playful energy felt comforting rather than intimidating. It felt strange yet reassuring to be surrounded by so much acceptance, something I hadn’t experienced in years.

After breakfast, Reyaansh’s mother insisted on giving me a small tour of the house, or rather, the mansion. The place was grand, with intricate details on every wall, ornate chandeliers, and an undeniable old-world charm. “This home has seen generations of Rathores,” Meera Rathore said proudly. “And now, you’re part of its legacy, Kiara.”

Her words struck a chord within me. For someone who had always been unsure of her place in the world, it felt overwhelming yet beautiful to be considered a part of something so significant. As we walked through the sprawling hallways, I realized this wasn’t just a house—it was a reflection of Reyaansh and his family’s history.

---

By the time we returned to the living room, I felt more settled. Reyaansh was sitting on the couch with Aarav, engaged in what seemed to be a serious discussion about some business matter. His posture was relaxed, but there was an unmistakable authority in the way he spoke, even to his brother.

He looked up as I entered, his gaze softening slightly when it met mine. “How was the tour?” he asked, his tone casual yet laced with a subtle warmth. “It’s... overwhelming, but beautiful,” I admitted, earning a rare smile from him.

“Overwhelming, huh?” Aarav chimed in, grinning mischievously. “Wait until you see bhaiya’s private study. That place is practically a shrine to seriousness.”

---

The banter between the brothers made me smile, and for a moment, the intimidating image of Reyaansh that I’d carried in my mind began to fade. He wasn’t just a powerful, enigmatic man—he was a son, a brother, and now, my husband.

As the day progressed, I found myself blending into the family dynamic more naturally. Meera ma insisted on teaching me a few family traditions, while Riya excitedly started planning a photoshoot for me in the outfits she wanted to design. Even Aarav, with all his jokes, made me feel like I belonged.

Still, a part of me couldn’t help but feel like I was tiptoeing through unfamiliar territory. Reyaansh was attentive but reserved, his emotions always carefully guarded. Despite his family’s warmth, I found myself wondering—what did he truly think of this marriage?

---

Later that evening, I stood on the balcony attached to our room, staring at the sprawling gardens below. The cool breeze carried the faint scent of jasmine, calming my racing thoughts. The sound of footsteps behind me made me turn, and I saw Reyaansh stepping out of the room.

“Thinking about something?” he asked, his voice low and steady.

I hesitated before nodding. “Just... adjusting, I guess. Everything feels so new.”

He leaned against the railing, his gaze fixed on the horizon. “It’s natural,” he said simply. “You’ll get used to it. And if anyone gives you trouble, you know where to find me.”

His words, though practical, held an undertone of reassurance. For the first time, I felt like we were building a connection—not just as husband and wife, but as two individuals navigating this new chapter together.

Reyaansh’s POV

The evening air was crisp, and the silence between us stretched as I gathered the courage to tell her the truth. I knew this moment would come eventually, but I hadn’t expected it so soon. Kiara stood across the room, her back to me, gazing out of the large glass windows that overlooked the garden. Her delicate silhouette was bathed in the soft glow of the moonlight, and I couldn’t help but wonder how she would react to the truth I was about to share.

“Kiara,” I called out, my voice steady but low. She turned to me, her curious eyes locking onto mine. “There’s something I need to tell you,” I continued, walking toward her. “It’s important, and it’s something I’ve kept hidden from my family.”

She tilted her head slightly, her brows furrowing. “What is it?” she asked softly, sensing the weight of my words.

I exhaled deeply, my jaw tightening. “I’m not just the CEO of Rathore Enterprises, Kiara. I... I’m also the Mafia King of Rajasthan,” I confessed, my voice dropping to a near whisper. Her eyes widened slightly, and I braced myself for the fear or shock I thought would follow.

---

But what I didn’t expect was her reaction. Instead of retreating or trembling in fear, her lips curved into a broad smile. “Wait, what? You’re a Mafia King?” she asked, her voice tinged with excitement.

I blinked, stunned. “Yes,” I confirmed cautiously, unsure why she seemed... thrilled?

“Oh my God!” she exclaimed, clapping her hands together. “This is amazing! Like, I’ve read so many dark romance novels, and I’ve always dreamed about something like this happening in real life. You’re literally straight out of one of my books!”

I stared at her, utterly baffled. “You’re... not scared?” I asked hesitantly.

“Scared?” she repeated, laughing softly. “Why would I be scared? This is the most exciting thing ever! Besides, I love K-dramas and K-pop. I’ve seen so many stories where powerful, mysterious men hide their dark secrets. This is like living in my own personal drama!”

---

Her enthusiasm left me speechless. Of all the reactions I had anticipated—fear, anger, confusion—this was not even remotely close. She was practically glowing with happiness, her eyes sparkling with delight.

“You’re seriously okay with this?” I asked, still unable to process her reaction.

“More than okay!” she declared. “This explains so much about you. The way you carry yourself, the power in your every move—it all makes sense now! And, honestly, I think it’s kind of... hot.”

I let out a small laugh, shaking my head in disbelief. “You’re unbelievable, Kiara.”

“And you’re incredible,” she replied, her tone sincere. “Thank you for trusting me with this. Your secret is safe with me. And for the record, I’ve got your back, Mafia King or not.”

---

For the first time in years, I felt a sense of relief wash over me. Sharing this part of myself with her had been terrifying, but her acceptance was nothing short of miraculous.

I nodded slightly, a rare smile tugging at the corner of my lips. Her reaction was beyond anything I had anticipated. Where I expected fear or judgment, she offered unwavering support and enthusiasm.

"You truly are full of surprises, Kiara," I said, shaking my head in disbelief.

“And so are you,” she replied, her voice light and teasing. “I mean, seriously, I married a Mafia King. Who could have guessed?”

Her laughter was contagious, and for a moment, the weight of my dual life felt lighter. She wasn’t just accepting this truth—she was embracing it wholeheartedly, and that meant more to me than I could ever put into words.

As the night deepened, I realized that for the first time in a long while, I felt a sense of peace. With Kiara by my side, maybe this path wasn’t as lonely as I had thought.
