Chapter 31: A Sweet Moment

The Ruthless King's Claim [Completed]

Reyaansh's POV

The moonlight bathed the garden in a soft glow, casting shadows across the manicured hedges and blooming flowers. Kiara’s laughter echoed gently in the night as we strolled through the pathways. She had always had a way of finding joy in the simplest things—like the way the jasmine flowers perfumed the air or how the cool breeze teased her hair.

“You seem happier today,” I said, watching her with a fond smile.

She turned to me, her eyes sparkling. “I am. It feels good to be out here, away from everything. Just us.”

I squeezed her hand, savoring the rare moment of peace. “Sometimes, I forget how important these little moments are,” I admitted. “Life tends to get overwhelming.”

Kiara stopped, pulling me toward a wooden bench beneath a large oak tree. “Then let’s make a promise,” she said, her voice serious. “No matter how busy or chaotic things get, we’ll always find time for moments like this.”

I looked at her, taking in her sincerity. “I promise,” I said, brushing a strand of hair from her face.

We sat there in comfortable silence for a while, her head resting on my shoulder as the world around us seemed to pause. The soft chirping of crickets and the occasional rustle of leaves created a soothing backdrop to our thoughts.

“Reyaansh,” she said softly after a long pause.

“Hmm?”

“Thank you for being you.”

Her words caught me off guard, but I leaned down to press a gentle kiss to her forehead. “And thank you for being mine.”

As the night deepened, we reluctantly made our way back to the mansion. Hand in hand, I knew this wasn’t just another night. It was a memory we’d hold onto—a reminder of the love and peace we could always find in each other.

We stepped back into the mansion, the warmth of the interior contrasting with the coolness of the garden. Kiara glanced at the clock in the hallway and let out a small laugh. “It’s almost midnight. We lost track of time.”

“Time well spent,” I replied, pulling her close for a moment. Her soft smile in response felt like the perfect ending to the evening, but something in her gaze told me she wasn’t ready to let it end just yet.

“Do you want some coffee?” she asked, tilting her head slightly.

“It’s late,” I said, but I couldn’t resist her enthusiasm. “But sure, let’s have coffee.”

We headed to the kitchen together. Kiara took charge, moving gracefully around the space as she prepared our drinks. She looked radiant, even in the simplest moments, her bangles jingling softly as she worked. I leaned against the counter, watching her, feeling a warmth I hadn’t experienced in years.

“Stop staring,” she teased without looking up, her voice playful.

“Can’t help it,” I admitted shamelessly, enjoying the faint blush that spread across her cheeks.

When the coffee was ready, we sat at the small kitchen table, sipping in silence for a moment. “Reyaansh,” she began, her tone suddenly thoughtful. “Do you ever think about what the future will look like for us?”

I placed my cup down, meeting her gaze. “All the time,” I said honestly. “And as long as you’re in it, I’m not worried about anything else.”

Her expression softened, and she reached across the table to take my hand. “Then we’ll face whatever comes our way. Together.”

In that quiet moment, surrounded by the stillness of the night and the comfort of her presence, I knew I’d never want for anything more than this.
