“I don’t care what’s your agenda, but this the Damien family. You have no right to decide if I’m the heir

or not! ” Lolita shouted at Grady as she stared at him indignantly.

“After my grandfather dies, I’ll be the heir apparent. This is my grandfather’s last wish, so who else

would be qualified?” she looked resolute as she spoke.

For a moment, everyone was silent. Many members of the Damien family nodded in agreement

unconsciously. ‘Indeed, it was Master Damien’s decision to put the Young Miss in charge. Who else could

do the job other than her?’

Just as everyone was muttering under their breath, a deep voice sounded off. “Me!”

Then, a man stepped out from the crowd. It was Donnie with a sinister look on his face. This caused a

stir amongst the Damien family.

“Second Young Master?”

“The Second Young Master is back?”

After Donnie escaped from Pearl City five years ago, his whereabouts had been a mystery.

Everyone thought that he had died and they were surprised to see he had returned.

Lolita trembled and looked shocked. Eventually, she calmed down and thought, ‘No

wonder Grady was so confident to tell me to give up my position as the heir. He brought

my second uncle.’ 1

Finally, she snapped back to her senses and was unable to hide her feelings of disgust.

“Donnie, you still have the cheek to come back?” she scolded Donnie.

Donnie hooked up with the mayor’s woman and embarrassed the Damien family, his

actions almost caused the Damien family to be in huge trouble. Since then, Lolita no

longer tolerated her second uncle.

Donnie smiled cunningly and took two steps forward as he retorted, "Lolita, back then, you

were young and naive, so I was not bothered when you were disrespectful towards me.

Now that you’re grown up, why are you still so ill-mannered?”

He looked around and continued, “I made a mistake back then, but I’ve already been

punished. Besides, you’re colluding with the mountain bandits, so why should you

discriminate against me for committing adultery? Am I not allowed ever to come home

just because I had a relationship with a woman?” 1

"You— " Lolita was furious as her chest heaved up and down in rage. She was at a loss for

words to refute Donnie’s claims.

Guided by Grady’s secret signal, Donnie addressed the crowd, “ Everyone, we have to

respect elders. After Master Damien’s death, I was the most qualified person to manage

the family. From now on, I shall be the new clan Head of the Damien family. Does anyone

object?”

As he spoke, he shot Grady appreciating glances. ‘Grady’s plan is great! Using Lolita’s

collusion with the bandits as an excuse to allow me to come home was genius. If it weren’t

for Grady, I don’t know what I would do.’

In that instance, everyone from the Damien family exchanged looks with each other,

dismayed. They also looked at Donnie with mixed feelings.

‘Although it was wrong for the Young Miss to collude with the bandits, she has been doing

well with managing the family business lately. On the other hand, Donnie is uneducated

and incompetent, so how could he properly manage the family business?’ 1

Laura, who was standing quietly by the side, could not help it anymore, she pointed at Donnie and

shouted, "Donnie, it was Master Damien’s decision for the Young Miss to handle the family. Why are you

taking it away from her?"

Although Laura was harsh and ruthless, she was loyal to Lolita. She had to step up after she saw Donnie

was going against Lolita. 1

Donnie’s face sank. Without hesitation, he strode across the room and slapped Laura hard across the

face.

"How dare a petty servant yell at me! You’ve got a death wish!" Donnie rebuked coldly, raising his hand

again to slap Laura again.

Laura was thrown into a daze by the sudden beating and was frantically struggling. However, she was

held in place by several of Grady’s guards.

“Donnie, this is going too far! stop it. stop! ” Lolita was furious and wanted to run over to help Laura, but

Grady’s guards stopped her.
