Chapter 206
Meet My Brothers
Maya was anxietyâridden as she faced Timothy. âTimothy, Iâm thinking of the bigger picture. Itâs best for
everyone to know more about the surgical plan.â
âWhatâs the point of him knowing more about the surgery? Heâs not a doctor,â Connor was literally
driving her to the edge with his calculated words.
The smile on her face was barely holding up.
Suppressing his anger, Timothy stood up and glared at Maya. âLetâs talk about it after Dr. Lane meets
with the other doctors.â
With that, he left the office.
She grabbed at his arm, but he flung her hands away. There was no warmth in his eyes.
In the end, Maya stayed riveted at her spot awkwardly. She looked back at Connor. âConnor, did you
have to say that?â
âI was simply telling the truth, wasnât I? I thought both of you were all loveyâdovey because you were
so jittery about marrying him. But based on what Iâve seen, I donât think he has feelings for you.â
âConnor, Timothy and I are getting engaged. He has feelings for me. He was pulling a long face
because of my little mistake.â
His eyes narrowed. âOh really? Did he not agree to the marriage because you promised to make the
surgery happen?â
Paleâfaced, she denied, âHow could that be? Weâve known each other for three years now. If it wasnât
for that accident, I wouldâve become his wife a long time ago. Connor, I know youâve never liked me
since we were young, but I hope you wonât stop me from chasing after my happiness.â
âSince youâre so certain that this is your soâcalled happiness, have it your way,â Connor growled.
âMaya, although Iâve never been fond of you, I opposed the marriage simply because I donât think heâs
the right fit for you. It was for your own good.â
Despite her being the adoptive child, he couldnât turn a blind eye to it.
She mocked, âWas it for my own good? Connor, if that is truly your intention, stop blabbering so much
and do your best for Mrs. Barrett Seniorâs surgery.â
She stormed out of the office, with one thing etched in her mindâshe wasnât a Lane and she could forge
her own bright future.
Only power and status could bring happiness in this world.
Felix queued in line to foot the hospital bills, nearly bumping into a man in black suit.
Felixâs head shot upward and he met a pair of shrewd eyes that sent chills down his spine.
In terms of height and aura, Timothy surpassed Felix.

Timothy recognized him as the man who took Mia to the hospital.
Timothyâs lips tightened and his gaze dropped to the bills in Felixâs hand.
âPaying the bills?â Timothy asked coldly.
âYâYeah,â Felix replied instinctively, completely taken aback by Timothyâs imposing presence.
A crease formed between Timothyâs brows. His expression appeared unnatural as he questioned
further, âIs the patient alright?â
Questions swirled in Felixâs head as he wondered, âDoes this man know Mia?â
Timothy prompted impatiently, âIâm asking you a question.â
Felix answered, âThe patient is fine. Sir, are you here to see the doctor?â
No matter how Felix looked at it, Timothy appeared weird to him. The way he spoke was commanding,
and that face seemed familiar to Felix.
He gave it a serious thought before asking vehemently, âAre you Mr. Barrett? The president of Barrett
Group?â
