Chapter 339
Meet My Brothers
Realizing that her number was blocked, Mia was so stunned that she couldnât speak.
Would anyone believe this? That her cousinâs girlfriend actually blocked her number?
Claude must have been in the middle of something. That was why he wasnât aware of Miaâs messages
and the misunderstanding occurred.
After considering the whole situation, Mia decided to put it at the back of her mind until he was
available.
Even if Mia attempted to explain her stance to the woman, the woman wouldnât buy it anyway.
Since she had taken leave before coming out of the studio and Claude was busy, what should she
do?
âHow about visiting Grandma at the hospital?â she thought.
Then, she hailed a cab to go to the hospital.
Laura was still in the ICU, and no visitors were allowed at the moment. Therefore, all Mia could do was
ask the medical staff about Lauraâs condition.
The nurse recounted, âStatus showed something abnormal about her blood pressure during the dawn,
but we managed to stabilize her. Her condition is stable right now.â
Miaâs heart surged to her throat at the mention of the critical condition Laura was in. Fortunately,
Lauraâs life was no longer in danger.
Mia couldnât check on Laura herself, so she prayed for Laura.
On her way out of the hospital, Mia ran into Timothy and some doctors at the elevator. A
discussion seemed to be going on.
Timothy raised his head only to be surprised to see her. Calmly, he spoke to the doctors, âPlease
inform me if anything happens.â
âDonât worry, Mr. Barrett. Thereâs a team specially assigned to look after Mrs. Barrett Senior. All medical
staff are on shift until her life is out of danger.â
Timothy nodded in response and the doctors dispersed.
Needless to say, Mia had overheard what the doctor said. With the 24/7 surveillance, there
shouldnât be any issue.
+15 BONOS
Timothy pursed his lips, âGrandmaâs fine now. Donât worry.â He sounded a little stiff.
She nodded. âGlad to hear that.â
âYouâre not working? Itâs the weekends.â He recalled that she had to work on weekends.
In fact, someone as talented as Mia wouldnât have needed to work overtime in his company on the
weekends.
However, sheâd rather stay in that small studio. The thought of the owner of the studio perturbed
Timothy.
She paused for a second. âIâve made up my mind. Studies come before anything. I can earn a living by
accepting orders occasionally, so I donât have to go to work.â
A crease formed between his brows. âEarn a living? You need money?â
âYes. We always need money to sustain ourselves. After all, we have to pay bills and cover our
expenses.â
His gaze focused on her for a moment. Then, he fished out his wallet and pulled out a black card.â
Take it.â
Mia gave the black card a glimpse, but she didnât take it. âNo, thank you. I donât need it.â
âPreviously, you didnât want those assets. But you need money now. If words get out, itâll tarnish
my reputation.â
She couldnât understand Timothyâs train of thought. âHow do my living circumstances have something
to do with your reputation?â
Was Timothy plotting a scheme?
There was an awkward shift in his expression. âYouâre my wife.â
âWeâre going to divorce soon.â
âIt doesnât matter if youâre my exâwife. People might see me as someone stingy toward his ex-
wife. Just take it.â
Mia retreated one step backward. âNo. Give up.â
If she accepted his money, what would that make her? Wouldnât that make her a goldâdigger?
Right then, Miaâs phone rang. She cast a glance at the dialerâs name. It was Claude!
Quickly, she answered the call. âHey, you finally called.â
âAre you Claudeâs family?â She paused. âYes, I am.â
