Chapter 389
Meet My Brothers
Mia stood frozen in place. She never expected Timothy to arrive so soon.
She had rushed here, eager to see Laura before Timothy showed up. She planned to slip away quietly
afterward.
She never thought she would still bump into him.
Mia could hear Timothy approaching behind her. His footsteps were steady yet powerful, and Mia found
herself holding her breath.
The few seconds were like torture to her.
When the footsteps ceased, she felt a chilling gaze on her back, like a knife waiting to cut her down at
any second.
Timothy loomed behind her, his presence casting a shadow over her. He pursed his lips tightly before
asking Martha, âWhereâs Grandma Laura?â
âSheâs been taken in for an examination. But the doctor said she seemed fine, so there shouldnât be
any issues.â Martha reassured.
Timothyâs expression softened and he continued. âMartha, thank you for taking care of her.â
âItâs my pleasure. When Mrs. Barrett Senior sees both of you here later, or rather, when she sees all
three of you together, I bet sheâll be very happy.â Martha smiled.
Miaâs smile faltered. She felt the chill emanating from the man beside her, and the temperature seemed
to drop around them.
She couldnât help but find this situation ironic. Marthaâs unwitting remark had struck a nerve.
Timothyâs gaze darkened and he said slowly, âMartha, you can go rest now. Iâll stay here.â
âIâm fine, but I can go tidy up the room where Mrs. Barrett will be staying.â Martha was good at reading
the room and wouldnât want to disturb the coupleâs conversation.
After Martha left, Miaâs breath caught and she tensed up. What would happen to her without Martha
around?
The corridor suddenly fell quiet.
Feeling his intense stare, Mia straightened her back but remained silent.
After a while. Timothyâs voice came from beside her. âArenât you going to hide?â

Mia trembled but she couldnât avoid him now. If she kept avoiding him like this, she wouldnât be
able to protect her child. She pursed her lips and muttered, âShould I have waited for you to make
a move instead of hiding?â
Timothy averted his gaze, his expression clouded with complexity. âIâm glad weâre on the same page. I
find it hard to believe the child is fine after jumping off from such a high place.â
Mia touched her belly. âYes, weâre quite lucky.â
âHave you thought it through? What good will keeping the child bring to you?â Timothy didnât
understand why Mia insisted on keeping the child. Did she know that her body wasnât suitable to
get an abortion?
Mia didnât dare to look into his eyes. âThis is my decision.â
âWhat if I insist that you get rid of this child? Iâll find you the best doctor so that you can still have
children after you recover. But it doesnât matter even if you canât.â
It made no difference to Timothy if he had a child.
After hearing this, the color slowly faded from Miaâs cheeks. Just as she thought, Timothy wasnât going
to spare the child.
Her hand fell from her belly, and she looked up at Timothy. âTimothy Barrett, you should know by now
that Grandma Laura has been looking forward to the child in my belly.â
Timothy narrowed his eyes dangerously. âAre you using Grandma Laura to threaten me? She just
came back from the brink of death!â
Mia lowered her eyes. âIf thatâs what you think Iâm doing, so be it.â
She needed to protect herself and drag this out.
The air suddenly tensed. Timothyâs eyes glowed with threat and warning, but there was another
emotion that Mia couldnât make out hidden deep within them.
