Chapter 396
Meet My Brothers
Janice caught sight of the sports car and her jaws dropped in disbelief. Was this man really that
wealthy?
Still resistant, she persisted, âMia Bowen, heâs just leading you on. Only my son will offer you
marriage.â
Mia chuckled. âIs marriage supposed to be some sacred blessing? As if I care.â
Leaning against the sports car, Claude approached and glanced at Janice. She appeared
intimidated. âWhat do you want?â
âIf you dare to bother Mia again, Iâll make sure your son rots in jail forever,â Claude warned, his voice
dripping with menace.
Janice felt threatened. It wasnât until Claude drove that she realized he was most likely involved in
her sonâs arrest.
Unfortunately, the sports car had already driven away.
Janice slumped to the ground. She was suddenly filled with regret. If only she hadnât crossed Mia.
What was she going to do now that her son was behind bars?
Meanwhile, Mia left the school with Claude.
She was taken aback by Felixâs arrest. She texted her former colleagues to inquire about the
situation and learned something unexpected.
One of the replies wrote: âI heard Mr. Quilter got arrested for some financial crimes. Seems like he
cooked up some names to cheat money from the school and funneled investor funds into his own
pockets to buy houses for himself.â
Another texted: âNow that Mr. Quilterâs shady dealings are out, heâs been arrested. He might be looking
at a few years if he canât cough up the cash to cover the losses. Itâs outrageous. Good
thing you left when you did.â (1)
After reading her colleaguesâ gripes, Mia got a rough idea of why Felix got arrested. But she never
expected Felix to be this shady behind the scenes. She never noticed it before.
Well, now she realized Felix wasnât a good person.
Initially, she didnât press Janice for charges. But Felix was now reaping what he sowed. Indeed, karma
had caught up with him.
Beside her, Claude hesitated. âMia, was that old lady Felixâs mother?â
âYes. Felix was arrested, and itâs not looking good for him.â Mia sighed.
âMia, are you worried about him?â Claude asked.
Mia raised an eyebrow. âWhy would I worry about a lowlife like Felix? He brought this onto himself.
â
Claude breathed a sigh of relief.
He cautiously probed, âMia, donât overthink it. But I think I heard that old lady mention your
divorce. Iâm not sure if I misheard.â
Mia paused. âSo you heard.â
âMaybe I misheard,â Claude reasoned.
âNo, Claude, you heard right. I got a divorce.â Mia didnât bother hiding it anymore. After all, her brothers
would find out eventually.
Claudeâs expression shifted at this, and he immediately parked the car on the side of the road. He
turned to her. âMia, are you serious? Whoâs the guy?â
How dare he demand a divorce? It was a blessing to marry Mia! Yet that bastard didnât cherish it!
Mia pursed her lips. âClaude, it doesnât matter who he is. Anyway, Iâm done with him.â
âDonât worry, Mia. I got your back. You used to be on your own, but now youâve got us. Whoâs your exâ
husband? How dare he divorce you!â
Mia fell silent for a moment. âIâm the one who wanted the divorce.â
