Chapter 399
Meet My Brothers
When Mia heard the familiar voice, she turned around and saw it was Jason.
Her eyes lit up in a pleasant surprise and she ran over to him. âI thought you left.â
A few days ago, Jason had come to North City specifically to stand up for her and teach Felix a lesson.
However, since she had made a deal with Felix, the matter was dropped.
She had thought Jason had returned to Nord City, given his busy schedule.
Jason affectionately patted her head. âI happen to have a case here. But what a coincidence. Since
Felix refuses to take the hint, you donât have to go easy on him now.â
Recalling what Timothy had said about Felix and how he had used his broken leg to threaten Timothy
into helping him, Mia had enough.
With how things had turned out, she would confront him headâon.
She nodded. âAlright, the hospitalâs surveillance footage and my medical records are still available. Itâll
be quick if we file a case.â
She suddenly felt a piercing gaze behind her.
Mia turned around slowly and met Timothyâs eyes. She lowered her eyes and followed Jason to report
the case.
Watching from the sidelines, Timothyâs gaze fell on the lawyer beside Mia. Who was this man?
A lawyer?
Timothyâs mood soured as he walked over to Heath. âFind out who that man is.â
Heath glanced at the man and immediately replied, âHe must be Jason Lane, the top lawyer in Nord
City.â
âHeâs from the Lane family?â Timothyâs brows furrowed at the mention of the Lanes. It was another
person from the Lane family.
No wonder!
Considering Miaâs relationship with Connor, it didnât seem strange for someone from the Lane family to
intervene. However, Timothy couldnât shake off the feeling that something was off.
Mia seemed unusually close to the Lanes.
After Mia had dealt with the matter on her end, she prepared to leave the police station with Jason. She
didnât even spare a glance at Timothy as she passed him.
The two brushed past each other.
After leaving the police station, Mia breathed a sigh of relief. Jason hesitated beside her. âMia, are you
still close to Timothy?â
âNo, it was just a coincidence. Jason, you know Iâm close to Timothyâs grandmother. Itâs why Timothy
wanted to help me.â
âIs that really the case, Mia?â Jason questioned.
Mia felt guilty and glanced at Jason. âWhy are you suddenly asking about this, Jason?â
*Based on the information Iâve gathered, you initially came to the police station with Felix to testify
against Timothy for assault. But just now, you claimed you remembered wrongly. Mia, is there some
history between you and Timothy?â
Mia was rendered speechless by the question. She hadnât expected Jason to already know so much.
She couldnât hide it anymore.
She pursed her lips. âI thought Felix was being bullied, but later I found out Felix wasnât a good person.
He got what he deserved, so I changed my statement.â
Jason knew Mia wasnât telling the whole truth, but he could tell she didnât want to talk about it. So, he
didnât press further. However, he couldnât shake the feeling that there was more than meets the eye
between Mia and Timothy.
Mia left the police station with Jason and went back to school. She still had classes in the afternoon.
Back in school, Miaâs gut feeling was screaming at her that something bad might happen.
