Chapter 438
Meet My Brothers
Every second was gold to Mia now.
She went on to practice her piece, wishing to make up for her past regret. The song reminded her of
the
orphanage.
Snippets of memories from the place only came to her when she played piano,
Aside from forgetting about the orphanage, she realized that she seemed to have forgotten someone,
someone important to her.
The practice session continued for a while as she walked down memory lane at the same time.
Right then, a woman with short hair showed up, scanning the area with eyes of scrutiny.
Mia raised her head and asked, âHi there, anything I can help you with?â
âHi, Iâm from the Literature Department and writing is my interest. Iâd like to write a virtuoso as the
female lead, so Iâm looking around for inspiration.
I
âI donât know anyone from the Music School and I donât dare to approach any one of them. But your
caught my eye a few times. Youâre not from the Music School, are you? Are you Mia Bowen?â
âThatâs me. Come in, have a seat,â Mia offered shyly. âWhat would you like to know? I donât know much
about music, actually.â
âThe thing is, that day. I happened to pass by the room, where you were playing the piano. It was
beautiful. It was a childrenâs song, but I donât think itâs a famous one.â
âOh, that one. It was made by the director of an orphanage. Itâs natural that you havenât heard of it
before.
âDid you come from an orphanage? Me too!â exclaimed the shortâhaired woman. âNo wonder you felt
approachable when I first saw you. Iâm Dana McQueen. Letâs be friends!â
âPleasant to meet you!â Mia had a good impression of Dana.
Both of them knew nothing about music, but they didnât look down on each other.
At the same time, Maya was bypassing the area downstairs. It seemed like something was weighing on
her mind.
Blake, under her order, had investigated the background of students in every Music School one by one.
As long as the true Ms. Lane was enrolling in a Music School, Maya would be able to track her down
one day.
It was only a matter of time.
After practicing piano, Mia left the building alongside Dana in the afternoon.
âIâm heading home for lunch. Letâs meet up next time.â
âSure. Text me when youâre coming for practice again.â
Mia nodded and they went separate ways. Mia went home by cab.
As soon as she arrived home, Claude was there talking over the phone with Anthony on the couch.
Noticing her arrival, Claude said, âLetâs wrap up this for now. Bye.â
Claude looked at her. âHowâs the preparation going, Mia?â
âGood. I practiced piano this afternoon. I think Iâm getting better.â
He smiled faintly. âOh? Why donât you play a piece for me.â
She did as requested. Although there was a lot of room for improvement before she reached the level
of a professional, she was content with her progress.
The next day, Mia went to college first thing in the morning. The music show held a weight of
significance.
Riley handed over the schedule to Mia, in which she was not surprised to see that name on the guest
list.
âTimothy Barrettâ
Other than him, there was another familiar name.
