Chapter 454
Meet My Brothers
Mia couldnât care less about othersâ opinions. She would just do whatever she desired. She was certain
that if she remained unbothered, people would just leave her alone.
And Timothy was the main cause. He should be responsible for the consequences.
âMia, try this dessert. Itâs rumâflavored, and itâs super nice.â Claude shot a triumphant glance at
Timothy.
Timothy chided, âNo, she canât eat that.â
âWhy not?â Claude raised an eyebrow.
âThereâs alcohol in it.â Mia was pregnant, and she should refrain from consuming alcohol.
Timothy chanced a confused glance at Mia. Was Claude unaware of Miaâs pregnancy?
Mia understood Timothyâs hint that she couldnât consume alcohol. She glanced over at the dessert and
replied, âIâm full. I donât feel like eating dessert.â
Claude was still unaware of her pregnancy, after all. He set aside the dessert reluctantly, accepting the
fact that she was already full.
Timothy narrowed his eyes. He threw his arm on the back of Miaâs chair. âSince youâve eaten, letâs go
back.â
Mia was flabbergasted. When would he put an end to his absurd antics?
His arm placement made it look like she was in his embrace. Infuriated, Claude flung his arm away and
snapped, âBastard, you better stay away from her!â
Sensing the palpable tension in the atmosphere, Kennedy chimed in, âMr. Lane, itâs normal for a couple
to return together after dinner. Youâre behaving quite inappropriately now, arenât you?â
He was quick to choose sides. Timothy was the richest in Bern City, so he barely gave much heed to
Claude, who came from the Lanes in Nord City.
Claude snickered, âA couple? Theyâre already divorced. Quit the act!â
Kennedy was shellâshocked. His jaw dropped wide open and an egg could easily fit in his mouth right
now.
Not losing any of his composure, Timothy glanced over at Claude. âWe have yet to continue the divorce
proceedings. Legally speaking, sheâs still my wife.â
His captivating eyes were breathtaking under the light, but there was a cold and possessive glint in
them.
Tension hung in the air.
In haste, Kennedy ushered the remaining guests out of the private room. He figured itâd be better for
them to leave the scene. The more they knew, the more troublesome Itâd become for them.
Yet, little did he expect Mia to be so popular. He still couldnât get over the fact that one of the Lanes
was courting her as well.
The room fell back into silence.
Pointing at Timothy, Claude bellowed, âYouâre still considered divorced even if you have yet to complete
the divorce proceedings. If you dare to harass Mia, I wonât spare you and Iâll make sure you end up in
prison!â
It wasnât just a threat. He was determined to make it happen with Jason backing him up.
Mia sensed that things were getting out of hand. She tugged Claudeâs arm. âForget it. Letâs go.â
âMia.â She heard Timothyâs voice above her. There was a palpable sense of menace in his tone.
Instinctively, she glanced up and met his eyes. The intensity of his gaze was jarring, and there seemed
to be a storm of emotions lurking in his eyes that she couldnât quite discern.
âI need to tell you something.â
Claude glared at him warily. âTalk to me if thereâs anything. Donât you fucking dare threaten her!â
After a brief moment of silence, Mia replied with her gaze fixated on Timothy. âYou can speak now.â
Timothyâs lips stiffened. âGrandma kept bringing you up these days. You havenât been able to visit her
lately because youâre busy.â
Mia forced a smile. It was about Laura again. To him, she was nothing more than a tool to make Laura
happy.
She nodded obediently. âAlright, Iâm aware of that. Anything else?â
Timothyâs fingers curled into a fist as his throat bobbed. The words that he contemplated over and over
in his mind were about to escape his lips.
