Chapter 493
Meet My Brothers
Hearing that, Mia turned to look at the door. Timothy was there!
She froze, not expecting him to be here as well.
His eyes were deep and she couldnât read his emotions.
Slowly, he walked into the room with his coat draping his shoulder. Since he was wearing his suit, it
seemed like he had just come from work.
Laura spared him a glance. âWhy arenât you answering? I asked you a question.â
Mia dropped her gaze as she didnât have the nerve to look at his expression. A weight hung in the air.
Still, wasnât this what they had come to compromise in the end?
âMia, come outside with me for a moment.â
Before she could react, he pulled her out of the room by the wrist.
She scurried because she couldnât keep up with his large strides. âTimothy, what is it?â
Timothy stopped and turned. âHave you never thought that the truth would be too much for her to take
in?
What if she had fainted? She has yet to be discharged!â
âBut didnât we agree that Iâll be the one to tell her the truth a few days ago? Why are you making it
seem
like I made a mistake?â She flung his hand away. âTimothy, do you think that lying to her is the best way
to go?â
He pursed his lips. âI didnât know youâd tell her this soon without waiting until she is discharged. Youâre
worried that we wonât divorce and you canât leave the city, arenât you?â
Mia was so angry that she laughed. âThink however you want. Iâve come clean with her.â
âHow did you explain about the baby?â he interrogated.
She paused. âI told her that it was fake.â
He snorted. âMia Bowen, donât you feel guilty lying to her about this?â
Words failed her. She couldnât explain about her pregnancy at the moment, so she made Laura believe
that the pregnancy was fake.
âAre you dumb?â His mockery resounded above her.
Her eyes glistened with tears as she was furious. The anger wasnât only directed at Timothy; she was
angry at herself too.
How could she be this weak? She simply couldnât control her tears in front of him.
âTimothy Barrett, how could you speak that way to Mia?â Right then, an enraged Laura chided behind
them.
Puzzled, Mia turned to look at Laura standing by the door. Not knowing how much Laura had
overheard from the conversation, Mia panicked.
Laura walked toward Miaâs side with a cane, her head raised at Timothy. âTimothy, do you usually treat
Mia this way?â
His lips pursed into a thin line. âHow much did you overhear, Grandma?â
âWhy the question? Isnât it enough to hear your final bit of the conversation? Just how many more nasty
words did you say to her?â
Noticing the flaring anger, Mia pulled Lauraâs hand. âCalm down, Grandma. Donât be angry.â
âHow can I not be? Mia, I thought youâd have a better life with us, not this. Iâm so sorry about what
youâve been through.â
Mia quickly responded, âWhy donât we return to the room first? We can talk inside.â
