Chapter 559
Meet My Brothers
Upon spotting Timothyâs car, Mia promptly responded to Jeremy over the phone, âAbsolutely. Iâm currently outside the study hall. Would you mind meeting me here?â
âSure thing, Iâll be right there.â
After ending the call, Mia remained standing alone outside the study hall. Though she noticed Timothyâs car, she refrained from approaching it, pretending not to have seen it.
Before long. Timothy emerged from the car, his eyes fixed on her. Feeling his gaze, Mia diverted her
attention to the sky above.
âThe rain last night was intense, but todayâs sky is remarkably
clear and blue,â she mused silently.
âWhat are you staring at? Is there a UFO up there?â Timothyâs resonant voice disrupted her thoughts.
Standing on the steps, he watched her, reminiscent of their encounter the previous night.
Unable to ignore him, Mia turned to face Timothy. âThereâs a flying cow up there. Didnât you see it?â she remarked sarcastically.
Timothy was taken aback by her retort. His eyes were tinged with red as he had barely slept throughout
the night.
His mind was consumed by Miaâs words. She claimed it had consistently been her unreciprocated love, asserting that he had never held any feelings for her.
Timothy had meant to clear things up the previous night, but Claude had cut him off.
Timothyâs expression turned somewhat awkward as he admitted, âActually, what you said last night
wasnât entirely true.â
Mia looked at him in surprise, wondering what she had said the night before.
âMia!â Just then, Jeremyâs voice interrupted. He briskly walked over, noticing Mia standing faceâtoâface
with another man.
Jeremyâs eyes momentarily darkened; nonetheless, he quickly flashed a charming smile as he approached. âMia, Iâve brought you a little treat. Itâs the perfect time for a snack.â
Mia glanced at the snack box in Jeremyâs hands. âThese are from that famous snack place near the university, right? Thereâs usually quite a queue. Iâve encountered the crowd so frequently that Iâve given
up trying to buy anything.â
âWell it just so happens that I have a junior colleague who works there partâtime, and he brought me a portion. What a coincidence to have such connections, am I right?â Jeremy replied with a polite
expression.
As Jeremy finished speaking, he felt a cold gaze fall upon him. Confidently, he turned to look at the man standing on the steps, expecting him to back off.
However, as Jeremy realized the manâs identity, his expression abruptly changedâit was Timothy.
Jeremy almost lost his balance, stuttering as he spoke, âMâMr. Barrett?â
Timothyâs narrow gaze intensified as he glanced at the snacks Jeremy had purchased. His thin lips formed a cold line as he remarked, âYou seem to be getting rather close to my wife, donât you think?â
Sensing Timothyâs hostility. Jeremy quickly clarified, âOh, no, youâve misunderstood. Mia and I are simply
classmates.â
âThe tone in which you say her name sounds rather affectionate.â
âNo, no, Mia is just naturally friendly. We all casually address her by her name. Thereâs no deeper significance to it!â Jeremy swiftly clarified, his survival instincts prompting his response.
Though he desired to grow closer to Mia, he certainly didnât want to provoke her exâhusband, Timothy.
Observing the unfolding situation, the corner of Miaâs lips twitched. What exactly was Timothy trying to
insinuate?
Unable to endure Timothyâs expression, she swiftly turned to Jeremy and suggested. âWerenât you planning to treat me to lunch? Letâs go. Iâm hungry anyway.â
Sensing the tension, Jeremy nervously glanced at Timothy. âMr. Barrett, do you have any plans for the
evening?â
Mia promptly interjected, remarking, âConsidering heâs the CEO of the Barrett Group, heâs always occupied with numerous responsibilities. Itâs unlikely he has any spare time.â
With that said, she was about to usher Jeremy away.
However, Timothy calmly descended the steps, glancing at Heath beside him. âDo I have any plans for the evening?â
