Chapter 634
Meet My Brothers
Under Timothyâs scrutinizing gaze, Mia rested her hand on his shoulder. âHey there, handsome, whatâs
your last name?â
âItâs Barrett.â
âOh, Mr. Barrett, isnât it? Could you please step aside? I need to have a word with Caleb alone,â Mia
replied.
After all, this matter was strictly between her and her exâhusband, and she preferred not to have
outsiders involved.
Timothy furrowed his brow, and Caleb, who had been standing behind him, hastily interjected, âThereâs
no need for a private conversation.
âWhatever needs to be discussed can be done so here. Thereâs nothing we canât address in front of
others.â
Mia looked at Caleb with concern and warned, âIf anything happens to Ginger, I assure you, youâll
regret it!
Timothy detected the urgency in her eyes; it didnât seem like an act. He eventually suggested, âWe can
talk in a less crowded place nearby.
Mia agreed with a nod. âOkay.â
The three of them then made their way to a nearby lounge area, devoid of other people.
Mia fixed her gaze on Caleb. âWhereâs Ginger?â
âSheâs safe. Iâm not some sort of monster. I wouldnât harm her, of course.â
âThen why has Gingerâs Apple watch been unresponsive? What did you do to her?â
Caleb looked perplexed. âIâm not sure either.â
Timothy chimed in. âHer Apple watch ran out of battery.â
âBut itâs been unresponsive since last night. Does it really take all night to charge?â
Mia clearly doubted Timothyâs explanation.
Timothy continued, âWhen we returned last night, Ginger was already asleep, so I wasnât aware that
her
Apple watch was dead. She only mentioned it this morning. It should have been fully charged by now.â
âIs that so?â
With that, Mia pulled out her phone and dialed Gingerâs number, but the recorded message indicated
the
number was unavailable.
She shook her phone and demanded, âHow do you explain this?â
Timothyâs eyes betrayed his confusion. It didnât add up; there had been ample time for the watch to be
fully charged by now.
Caleb, too, found the situation peculiar.
Miaâs expression turned cold. âWhereâs Ginger? Take me to her.â
Timothy fixed Mia with a scrutinizing gaze. âWhatâs your relationship with her?â
Mia retorted, âAre you blind or something? Ginger bears a striking resemblance to me. Even a fool
could discern our relationship. Do you really need to ask?â
Caleb nodded knowingly. âSee, I already suspected that Ginger had some close connection with you.â
Timothy deliberately inquired, âDo you have any photos? Preferably ones with both of you?â
Suppressing her anger, Mia found a photo of herself with Ginger in her album. âHere. Can you take me
to see my daughter now?â
Mia wasnât sure whether these two men were lying or not, at least they knew where Ginger was.
As Gingerâs father, Caleb surely wouldnât harm her, regardless of any shortcomings he might have.
The three of them made their way together to the hotel suite upstairs.
In the elevator, silence filled the air, creating an eerily quiet atmosphere.
Caleb instinctively withdrew, eager to make himself as small as possible. He swore he had no
connection whatsoever with Monalize, let alone having a daughter of that age.
As the elevator doors opened, Mia spoke anxiously, âQuickly, lead the way.â
She needed to see her daughter with her own eyes before she could feel reassured.
Timothy led the way into his suite, pushing the door open. âSheâs in there.â
As the suite door swung open, Mia hurried inside. âGinger?â
Frantically, she searched the living room, but Ginger was nowhere to be found.
Suddenby, she heard the sound of running water coming from the bedroom. Could Ginger be taking a
shower?
With
rmination, Mia strode toward the bedroom and swiftly pushed open the bathroom door. âGinger.
are you in here?â
