Chapter 686
Meet My Brothers
Mia turned to Caleb and remarked, âSo, this is why Mr. Barrett was seeking reishi mushrooms?
âBut as far as I know, reishi mushrooms arenât capable of treating incurable diseases; theyâre primarily
used to prevent muscle atrophy and stimulate neurons.
âTypically, only those with fullâbody paralysis or in a vegetative state would require reishi mushrooms.â
âYes, Timâs grandmother has entered a vegetative state, so she needs reishi mushrooms.â
Timothyâs grandmother?
Laura?
Miaâs brow furrowed as she recalled the details from her investigation, realizing that it was Laura who
had orchestrated her marriage into the Barrett family as a commoner.
Although it initially seemed like Mia had a stroke of luck, marrying someone on their deathbed left her
pondering whether it was ultimately a blessing or a curse.
However, this situation also presented an opportunity.
Mia nodded thoughtfully before remarking, âSo, Mr. Barrett needed the reishi mushrooms for a sick
family member. I had assumed he intended to sell them for profit.â
âMs. Monalize, Tim is the heir of the esteemed Barrett family in Bern City. Money is hardly an issue for
him. He truly is obtaining these mushrooms for his grandmother. So, may I kindly request that you sell
them to us?â
Mia narrowed her eyes slightly. âThis matter is open to negotiation, but I must personally verify whether
or not youâre trying to deceive me. Coincidentally, I have a project to discuss in Bern City, so Iâll take
this opportunity to visit!â
Ginger and Caleb were taken aback by her declaration.
Mia glanced at them, her expression tinged with a hint of awkwardness. âWhatâs wrong? Canât I drop
by?â
Caleb quickly nodded, confirming, âCertainly, you can, Ms. Monalize. As long as youâre willing to sell us
the reishi mushrooms, weâre open to any conditions. Iâll arrange the plane tickets immediately. Do either
of you have any objections?â
Ginger promptly raised her hand. âNone at all.â
Mia glanced at Ginger, waiting until Caleb stepped away to make the ticket reservation call. She then
leaned down and whispered to Ginger, âDo you want to accompany me to Bern City?â
âYes, Mommy. If I stay behind, how will your plan work? Besides, Iâm quite good at pretending to be
sick, so he surely wonât suspect itâs for Sageâs treatment.â
Mia affectionately patted Gingerâs head and smiled, saying, âAlright, then weâll pay a visit to the Barrett
family in Bern City.â
Mia was also curious about the place that had caused her so much distress before.
An hour later, Mia discreetly escorted Ginger to the airport.
Even Wade remained oblivious to their plan.
If Wade were to find out, her brothers would soon follow suit, and they certainly wouldnât approve of her
visiting the Barrett family in Bern City.
But for Sageâs sake, this journey was necessary.
As the plane ascended into the sky, Mia watched the shrinking silhouette of Xanier Island below.
Contemplating Sageâs illness, her gaze hardened with determination.
Seven hours later, the aircraft touched down at Bern City International Airport.
Mia gently lifted the sleeping Ginger from her seat. Despite Gingerâs excitement during the flight, she
had drifted off to sleep just before they landed.
Miaâs arms began to ache from carrying Ginger; after all, Ginger had grown considerably.
Caleb murmured, âLet me carry her.â
Mia glanced at him briefly before handing Ginger over to him. It seemed only fair to take advantage of
the free assistance.
Exiting the airport, Mia surveyed the surroundings she had once frequented, yet found herself unable to
recall anything.
âCaleb, what is she doing here?â Luna suddenly inquired, having just descended from a private jet.
Luna had rushed back upon learning of Lauraâs deteriorating condition, feeling compelled to
witness it firsthand.
However, she hadnât anticipated seeing that woman again! The woman who bore such a striking
resemblance was at the airport too!
