Mia returned to the hospital, anticipating the test results due the foll dayne sheer thought of it made her
nervous. Despite her certainty that h would be a match, Mia couldnât find peace of mind until the results
were confirmed.
Timothy arrived just as Mia and Ginger were dining together. Gingerâs eyes lit up with excitement as
she asked, âWhatâs in that box?â
Two imposing bodyguards carried a sizable box into the room, its contents evidently substantial.
âYouâll find out soon,â Timothy replied cryptically.
Mia was curious as well. What kind of gift had he bought for Ginger?
The bodyguards set the box down and unveiled its contents, revealing a miniature princess castle. Mia
couldnât contain her amazement. âWow! Itâs stunning!â she exclaimed, her eyes shining with disbelief.
âDid you go out of your way to get it?â Mia asked, surprised by Timothyâs
gesture.
âI stumbled upon it while I was out. It gets dull just sitting in the room. It thought this might keep her
entertained. Iâve heard little girls adore these,â
Timothy explained.
Ginger nodded. âI love it!â However, despite Gingerâs obvious delight, she remained still, her gaze fixed
on Mia.
Understanding Gingerâs silent plea, Mia nodded reassuringly. âYou can play
with it after dinner.â
âHurray!â Ginger cheered, diving into her meal with newfound determination.
As Mia and Timothy exited the room, the former stole a glance at the
present. âThank you. She loves it.â
Timothy merely hummed in response.
Her attention shifted to him. âMr. Barrett, youâre kind to my daughter, fr no wonder sheâs taken a liking
to you. Sheâs hoping you can be her father.
A gentle smile graced Timothyâs lips as he watched Ginger happily engrossed in her play. âIâm not
particularly fond of children, truth be told. But sheâs rather endearing.â
âGinger has always been the cheerful one, a little ray of sunshine in our family. Everyone adores her.â
âIf she ends up living in Bern City someday, sheâll adapt quickly to the surroundings.â
Mia was puzzled. âWhat do you mean by that, Mr. Barrett?â
âIsnât it because weâre in a relationship?â
âYes, but that doesnât determine where my daughter will live.â
He stared at her, his voice deep. âI only date to marry, so Iâll bring you both to Bern City. Donât worry. Iâll
ensure she has the best in life.â
Her instinctive response to his seriousness was avoidance. She shifted her gaze to the scenery outside
the window. âMr. Barrett, I believe we have differing opinions on dating. I date without the intention of
marriage.â
iy?â
âMarriage kills love. I donât want to make the same mistake twice.â In fact, she was feeling jittery. Was
he serious about it, or was he testing her?
Timothyâs eyes lingered on her face, so reminiscent of Mia Bowenâs. It was almost as if Mia Bowen
herself had spoken those words.
He quickly withdrew his gaze. âItâs my motherâs birthday party tomorrow. Will you come?â
âHave you thoroughly thought this through? Are you ser

him.
He couldnât have been unaware of the altercation between her and Sharon at the fashion show.
Meeting her playful gaze, he calmly stated, âAs my girlfriend, you shouldnât have to endure anything.
Even if itâs the end of the world, Iâll stand by you.â
