Chapter 85
Meet My Brothers
After a moment of hesitation, Mia answered the call.
âHello? May I know whoâs on the line?â
âHello, Ms. Bowen. Iâm Mr. Barrettâs lawyer, and Iâll be in charge of your divorce with him. May I know if
youâre free to meet now?â
Lowering her gaze, Mia answered, âYes.â
She hung up and stroked her belly. She didnât see the need to be concerned about the divorce
agreement since she had signed it.
It was like Timothy and her were from two different worlds.
Mia went to the café to meet the lawyer.
âNice to meet you. Is there anything I have to do?â
âThe divorce agreement outlines the division of the assets. Mr. Barrett allocated three properties, one
storefront, a Maserati, and a total of ten million in stocks and cash to you. Please take a look at it. If you
have no further issues, please sign the agreement, and Iâll handle the subsequent procedures.â
Mia glanced at the assets. She didnât even pay any attention when she signed the agreement initially,
nor did she spot the sum of the assets.
After all, Sharon had her sign a prenuptial agreement stipulating that in case of divorce, she should
leave with nothing.
Yet, little did she expect Timothy to be this generous. The value of those three properties exceeded
millions of dollars.
Mia handed back the documents as she stated, âI donât want these.â
She didnât need these. It felt like they were being given as an act of compassion.
If she accepted them, wouldnât it imply that she only married into his family because she was after the
money?
Tony was stunned.
As if he couldnât hear her clearly, he repeated himself, âMs. Bowen, are you sure about that? According
to your prenuptial agreement, Mr. Barrett doesnât have to give you any property. Nonetheless, he still
did. I suggest
you think twice about it.â
He had dealt with many divorce cases, but it was rare for him to come across someone who would
refuse any property unless they had some ulterior motives. After all, he was used to seeing couples
fighting over property.
When Mia heard Tony, she said in a self-deprecating manner, âI donât want any of these. Iâm leaving
with nothing. Just tell Timothy that.â
Right after she said so and got up, she heard Timothy say coldly from behind her, âIf you have
something to
+15 BONOS
Timothy couldnât help but rise from his seat. He expected Mia to accept these assets without skipping a
beat. Yet, to his surprise, she refused to do so.
Or was it because it wasnât enough for her? Was it much less than what her new boyfriend gave her?
Was his assets incomparable to the tiny house she had?
Mia didnât expect Timothy to be here as well.
With an awkward expression, she replied, âI think Iâve made it very clear just now.â
He went up to her and said, âIf you chose to leave with nothing, why did you sign the agreement in the
first place? Since you signed it, why are you acting high and mighty now by saying you donât need it?
Arenât you tired of playing hard to get?â
Mia found this to be absurd.
She glanced up at him and replied calmly, âYou can think whatever you want.â
She wanted to leave, but he grabbed her by the arm.
âWhatâs wrong? Canât explain yourself after being exposed?â
Finally, Mia couldnât hold back and snapped, âMr. Barrett, youâve been saying Iâm playing hard to get.
Whereâs the evidence?â
âHere,â Timothy replied as he took out a small white bottle from his pocket.
When Mia saw the familiar folic acid bottle, her expression changed.
