Chapter 1645
The 99th Divorce
âI was forced by him!â Shen Manting growled out. âEveryone saw him as an upright gentleman. Everyone thought that he was filial, intelligent, and capable. He was perfect in everyoneâs eyes!â
Shen Manting turned around to face Old Mrs. Shen and yelled, âDo you have any idea what kind of person he was in the dark?â
âI...â
Before Old Mrs. Shen could finish her sentence, Shen Manting interrupted her. She said, âNo, you have no idea! You have no idea at all! Heâs a bastard! Heâs a monster! He never treated me as a human!â
âThere must be some kind of misunderstanding here...â
âWhat? A misunderstanding?â Shen Manting snorted. âThere is no misunderstanding, Granny. Please go back. I will never return with you.â
âGranny is begging you, OK?â Old Mrs. Shen stepped forward and held Manting by her hands. She pleaded, âPlease come back. At least, donât let the child be born a bastard. The child is innocent!â
âYouâre mistaken. There is no child.â Shen Manting snatched her hand back. âI donât know where you got your information from, but I will never give birth to Shen Luoâanâs child. That sort of a bastard child is too disgusting for me!â
Old Mrs. Shen had never expected Shen Manting to be so resolute against her.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
Her expression changed a little. She lowered her voice and asked, âWill you not even do it for Grannyâs sake? My legs arenât faring well, and my health is getting worse by the day. Iâve been on medication for a while now. You know that. I... ah...â
Old Mrs. Shenâs face suddenly turned purple. She grabbed her chest as she fell over. They were symptoms of a heart attack.
Shen Manting was shocked. She rushed forward to hold her up. âGranny!â she called out.
Old Mrs. Shenâs complexion looked horrible. She gripped Shen Mantingâs hands in her own as she gasped for breath.
Shen Mantingâs expression immediately changed as she yelled out, âHelp! Somebody, help!â
The bodyguard standing outside quickly rushed in. When he saw the state that Old Mrs. Shen was in, he immediately snapped into action.
He rushed forward and picked Old Mrs. Shenâs frail frame up. âAllow me,â he said.
Old Mrs. Shen refused to loosen her grip on Shen Mantingâs hands. Between gasps, she said intermittently, âYou... Manting... Manting...â
When the bodyguard witnessed this, his brows furrowed together. He said, âMiss, please come with us. Old Mrs. Shenâs situation doesnât look too optimistic. Given the way sheâs clinging on to you, we canât take her away either.â
Shen Manting panicked when she heard that. She tried to pry her hands out, but she was no match for the surprising strength of the small old lady.
âManting...â
It was as if Old Mrs. Shen was determined to drag her along with her and had no intention of loosening her grip.
âMiss, please just come with us!â
Without waiting for Shen Mantingâs agreement, he bellowed, âWho is outside? Come in to help!â
...
They took the old lady to the hospital. After diagnosis, they found out it wasnât anything serious.
Shen Manting knew immediately that she had been fooled by the old lady.
She was furious and wanted to leave. With the group of bodyguards surrounding her, resistance was futile.
âReporting! Old Madam has asked us to return.â
âSure, go back.â
As Shen Manting spoke, she stood up and said, âSince you are going back, and this has nothing to do with me anymore, Iâll be leaving now.â
The bodyguard surrounded her and said, âIâm sorry, Miss. Old Madam didnât say that you could leave. Please come with us.â
âNo way!â Shen Manting shouted. âHow can you do this? Nobody can take me away without my consent!â
