Chapter 2018 - Take a look in the young master’s room
The 99th Divorce
The bathroom door was shut with a dull thud.
Shen Mantingâs heart trembled silently.
She walked out of the room with the infant in her arms and sat on the sofa in the living room.
Mrs. Shen was in her pajamas, sipping water from the cup in her hand.
When she saw Shen Manting enter the living room, she shifted her spot to sit in front of her.
She glanced at the infant and asked with a smile, âAre you comfortable being back at home?â
Shen Manting lowered her head and smiled awkwardly. âIâm doing fine.â
âWeâre a family, Manting. Iâm really fond of you. Donât be too cautious at home. Youâre a nice girl. I believe even the baby doesnât want you to be too harsh on yourself.â Mrs. Shen set the cup down and looked at her. âWe welcome you home. Youâre very welcome to come back home. Forget all the unpleasant memories.â
âAll right.â
Shen Manting answered in a low voice. Then, she continued holding the infant in silence.
Upon noticing her dispirited look, Mrs. Shen sighed and stood up. âItâs getting late. Rest early.â
âGood night.â
Mrs. Shen felt a little sad. âGood night.â
Shen Manting remained seated for a while. Then, she heard the sound of slippers padding across the room.
Shen Luoâan was walking towards her. He glanced at her and extended his arms.
He carried the infant away without a word.
His hair was still wet and his expression was cold and sullen. He looked upset.
Shen Mantingâs lips trembled as she struggled to say something, but she swallowed her words the moment Shen Luoâan turned around.
After seeing Shen Luoâan close the door, she rose to her feet and went back to her room.
The nannyâs room was exceptionally small.
Shen Manting looked around the room and sighed in dismay.
Yet, fatigue overwhelmed her.
She yawned. She laid out a set of pajamas, took a bath, and soon fell asleep.
Shen Manting woke up early the next morning.
She didnât achieve much over this period of time, but at least her biological clock became regular.
Every day, she slept at around 10 oâclock at night and woke up at 6:30 in the morning.
She left her room after washing up.
Mother He was already making breakfast. Upon seeing Shen Manting, she smiled and said, âGood morning. Why donât you sleep a while longer?â
âIâm used to getting up early.â Shen Manting washed her hands. âLet me help you. What should I do here?â
âDonât bother,â replied Mother He. She did not seem to require any assistance and brushed her off, adding reproachfully, âToo many cooks spoil the broth. Why donât you go to the young masterâs room to check on him?â
âShen Luoâan? He hasnât woken up yet at this hour, has he?â Shen Manting furrowed her brow.
âThe baby was crying. Maybe heâs coaxing the baby now. You should go and take a look,â Mother He responded. âGo and see if youâre able to help.â
âAll right.â Shen Manting wiped her hands.
Soon, she arrived outside Shen Luoâanâs door. She hesitated for a moment, before gently knocking on the door twice.
He opened the door after a moment.
Shen Manting looked fresh, clean, and energetic.
On the other hand, Shen Luoâan...
His hair was unkempt and he looked groggy in his pajamas.
He frowned upon seeing Shen Manting. Then, he turned around and lay down on the bed again.
He didnât say a single word and left the door open.
Shen Manting was a little perplexed. She quickly went into the room and took a look inside the crib.
The infantâs bright, round eyes were wide open. He stuck his tongue out and bubbles were forming at the corner of his mouth.
He seemed to recognize Shen Manting instantly and glanced up affectionately at her.
Shen Mantingâs heart softened. She lifted him gently.
