Shen Luoâan plopped onto the bed on his back.
The bath towel slipped off his body. He lay down on the bed naked.
He had no reservations at all.
Shen Manting walked over and glanced at him.
But it seemed only an illusion.
Her cheeks started to burn. She immediately shifted her gaze away.
Such a pervert!
Shen Manting covered him with a blanket. Then, she turned off the light and lay down.
She was utterly exhausted. She closed her eyes and fell asleep as soon as she lay down.
She slept with her back to Shen Luoâan.
In the middle of the night, she vaguely felt something rubbing against her.
She woke up suddenly and turned around to see Shen Luoâan lying quietly on his side of the bed, his hands resting on his waist.
Shen Manting yawned and went back to sleep.
She slept well until daybreak. The infant woke up and cried during the night, but she managed to calm him.
Shen Manting awoke to find Shen Luoâan gone.
She heard the sound of running water coming from the bathroom. Soon, Shen Luoâan came out in casual attire. He was rubbing his head.
When he saw her, he frowned and asked, âDid you hit me last night? Why does my head hurt?â
âYou were drunk!â Shen Manting scoffed irritably and got up. âWas I indebted to you in my past life? I have to take care of not only your son, but also you!â
âNonsense.â Shen Luoâan walked over to her, grabbed her hand, and pressed it to his head. âSee? Itâs swollen!â
Shen Manting felt a lump on his head. It was indeed swollen.
She suddenly recalled that she had hurled the shower head at him last night... a little too forcefully, perhaps.
She gulped.
Did she happen to hit him right on the head?
She felt a little guilty inside but stood her ground. âDonât blame me!â
She really wasnât to blame. He courted trouble himself.
Shen Luoâan was skeptical. He stuck out his tongue. âYou bit my tongue!â
âNonsense!â Shen Manting cried. âYou bit it yourself!â
âHow is it possible?â Shen Luoâan obviously didnât believe her.
Shen Manting turned around and raised her voice. âWhy are you blaming me for everything you did to yourself? Itâs your own fault for biting your own tongue!â
âI clearly remember you biting me!â Shen Luoâan was indignant. He strode towards her and demanded, âI bet youâve done something sneaky behind my back when I was drunk. Spill the beans!â
Shen Manting ignored him. She turned around and went out the door.
Shen Luoâan felt a throbbing pain in his head as he watched her walk out.
He had fragmented memories of everything that had happened last night. He could only recall some of the details vaguely, but he didnât forget.
Why did he feel as though he had been taken advantage of?
It was an intense feeling, yet... it didnât feel too bad.
â
Shen Manting went back to her room to wash up. She stared at her reflection in the mirror and felt a strange sensation.
âWhat should I do if you abandon me and the child...â
Her heart started to race.
She couldnât tell whether his pleas were drunken nonsense or alcohol-induced, heartfelt confessions.
Shen Manting washed her face. Recollections of him sitting in the bathtub with a blank stare ran through her mind.
He looked like a fool.
When she left her room after changing into a fresh outfit, Mother He had already prepared their meal.
Shen Manting yawned and went back into the room to pick up the infant, who was already awake.
Yet, Shen Luoâan was still sleeping!
The longer she stared at him, the more irritated she felt. She shot him a resentful look as she passed him by.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
Shen Luoâan seemed to have noticed he glare. He sat up instantly.
He slipped on his slippers and stepped outside. He tapped his head and requested, âMother He, please prepare a remedy to cure my hangover.â
Mother He glanced at him, then at Shen Manting. âWait a minute,â she replied with a smile.
After finishing the chores at hand, Mother He went to the kitchen and brewed a soup to cure his hangover.
Shen Manting sat on the sofa with the infant in her arms. She was yawning the whole time.
Shen Luoâan sat down in front of her and uttered impatiently, âDidnât you sleep well last night? Why do you look so sleepy?â
Shen Manting glanced at him and felt even more upset. She retorted, âYou still have the nerve to say that? Think about what you did last night!â
âWhat did I do?â Shen Luoâan grabbed an orange and started peeling it. He cast a dismissive glance at her and added, âWhat could I do to you?â
