Chapter 1017 - Missing Him so Much
Young Master Gu, Please Be Gentle
Huo Yanmei observed Anâan quietly, Anâan was so calm and collected. She thought to herself, the greatest love on earth probably looked like that, they were all becoming better versions of themselves.
Chen Jinâs eyes were teary as he nodded his head. âAnâan, go ahead and do anything you want. Lu Yan had never been alone, and now youâre not alone too. Weâre all by your side, supporting you.â
âMm.â
Why hadnât she fallen into sadness when he left? That was because he had left behind strength for her.
All these people helping in the search were evidence of the strength that he had left behind.
...
In just five hours, the entire jungle had been searched through but they still hadnât managed to find Lu Yan.
âGeneral Chen, we are certain that General Lu is no longer in this jungle. We need more time to find out his whereabouts. Thereâs some signs of a dam burst here. We will follow the trail and search the entire place. We are not going to eliminate the possibility of General Lu being blown away by the hurricane.â
All in all, Lu Yan was nowhere to be found.
No one knew whether he was dead or alive.
Chen Jin pursed his lips, grabbing Anâanâs cold hand. âAnâan...â
Anâan lifted her eyes to look at Chen Jin, her face completely pale but her eyes were still clear and beautiful, exceptionally gleaming. âDonât worry about me. Itâs the best kind of news for me that we canât find him now, I believe that heâs still alive. Heâs definitely somewhere in this world. The baby and I will wait for him to be back, we will continue waiting. One day, when I open my eyes in the morning, perhaps he would just appear beside me. He would tell me, Anâan, Iâm back.â
...
Two weeks passed.
Unfortunately, there still wasnât any news about Lu Yan.
But the good news was, her application to marry Lu Yan had been approved. Anâan had become Lu Yanâs wife, becoming one of the millions of soldiersâ wives.
She had moved into the married quarters, even when Huo Yanmei and Tang Moâer werenât supportive of her decision as the army base wasnât easily accessible to them. Anâan was pregnant, she needed their care and if she stayed near them, she could receive the best form of care.
But Anâan insisted, she wanted to go back to her home.
She wanted to wait for Lu Yan in their home.
She would be able to see him once he comes back.
She wanted to stay where it was nearest to him.
In the army hospital, Anâan lay on the bed while the gynecologist did a scan for her. âMadam, youâre eight weeks pregnant. The fetus is growing healthily, you just need to take note to get more rest and youâll be alright.â
Anâan placed her hand over her stomach. âThank you, doctor.â
An Xi had also moved into the married quarters with her son, Little Tiger. The former love rivals had become good friends.
Once Anâan came out of the doctorâs office, An Xi started asking concernedly, âAnâan, what did the doctor say?â
âEverything is okay.â
An Xi felt grateful that Anâanâs baby was healthy. She looked at Anâanâs stomach, her waist was still slim. She had a slight bump, despite being only two months pregnant.
âAnâan, your stomach is growing big so fast. You have a bump at two months, how big is your bump going to be a few months later?â An Xi was puzzled.
It was Anâanâs first baby and she had no experience at all. However, it didnât really matter to her since the doctor said her baby was healthy.
That was all that mattered.
As they walked along the corridor, Anâan saw an expectant mother sitting on a long bench. A soldier crouched down beside her, placing his ear above her bump and said, âWife, the baby is calling me Dad.â
The expectant mother covered her mouth and laughed. âIâm going into labor in just a few days. Husband, Iâm afraid.â
âWhy are you afraid?â
âIâm afraid that itâll be painful.â
âIâll enter the delivery room with you then. When it hurts Iâll stretch my hand over and you can just bite my hand.â
The expectant mother was so amused.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
âWife, donât be afraid. Iâll protect you two well.â
âMm!â
Anâan stopped walking, pausing to observe the husband-wife. An Xiâs heart sank. Those who came to the hospital for their pre-natal checkup were all accompanied by their husbands, only Anâan was alone.
They could all accompany Anâan, but no one could replace that important someone.
Her husband, her babyâs father.
No one could easily replace Lu Yanâs presence.
âAnâan, are you alright?â
Anâan looked at An Xiâs worried face, she smiled at her and replied, âIâm fine. An Xi, thereâs no need for you to accompany me. Hurry go home and take care of Little Tiger. Iâll head back home myself.â
After speaking, Anâan waved her hand and left by herself. An Xi stood on the spot, watching Anâan walk away as she sighed. They all wished that Anâan would sometimes learn to not be so strong.
She could also choose not to smile and cry instead.
Crying was the best way to relieve all of her sadness. She could choose to not hide her wounds. She could also ask for some protection, some doting on.
But ever since Lu Yan went missing, she hadnât shed a single tear.
...
Anâan walked out of the military hospital and walked on the lawn. She heard the soldiers training soundsâ-One, two, one, two...
She stopped walking, standing outside the fence while watching.
A group of recruits were dressed in their camouflage uniform, running while sweating profusely. Though they were tired, they still remained motivated and had smiles on their faces.
Anâan stood outside of the fence, her mind filled with that scene from a month ago. He had his uniform on and walked over, he was dazzling and took everyoneâs breath away.
As Anâan slowly stretched out her arm, it passed through the fence and she lifted her head slightly, looking at the flag that blew around above her.
Why were his dreams so unreachable?
He held it in his palm, but it still flew away.
After battling for so many years, he was no longer young. He could no longer start afresh, he just couldnât afford to do so.
He had invested his entire life and soul into this place filled with his dreams, but it no longer embodied him.
He was still a stray person after all.
Ah Yan, where are you?
Anâan shut her eyes, thinking in her heart.
Ah Yan, I really miss you.
...
Passing by the yard, Anâan suddenly paused. The door was open.
There was someone in the house.
There was actually someone in the house?
Who could it be?
Anâanâs heart palpitated, an unbelievable idea popped up. Was he... back?
Anâan quickly ran inside the house, her eyes glinted as she called out, âAh Yan...â
The next moment, her smile stiffened.
It wasnât Lu Yan, but Jian Dao instead.
Jian Dao was carrying a basket, it was filled with freshly picked fruits and vegetables. Once he saw Anâan, he greeted her, âSister-in-law, youâre back?â
Seeing him, Anâan took the basket from him and brought it into the kitchen. She began washing the fresh produce and said, âJian Dao, itâs almost time for lunch. Stay and have lunch with me.â
Jian Dao scratched his head in embarrassment. âItâs fine, sister-in-law. We have an operation later, Iâll leave first.â
Jian Dao walked out of the house, closing the door after him. She finally had some silence to herself. Anâan put down the vegetable in her hand and lowered her head, her eyes slowly turning red.
She missed him so much, but she was going to wait for him to be back.
She would wait for him.
