Chapter 13
How My Ex Became My Next by Kirk Stanley ( Gilda Lynch )
Chapter 13
âI didnât expect that I was the last one to know about your return. You broke my heart, Gilly! I have been always nice to you!â
Hearing the voice, Gilda knew it was her brother Braydon Lynch.
However, Braydon was not her biological brother. He was abandoned by his biological parents at birth. He was then adopted by the Lynch family.
Gilda didnât even raise her head, looking intently at the document in her hand. âHave a seat and wait for me for a while. Besides, donât disturb me.â
It had been three days since Patrickâs secretary sent Gilda some documents. However, Gilda still hadnât sorted out all the documents.
Gilda received nearly a hundred calls from companies that had business ties with Glory Corporation in one day. Her mind was in a whirl.
Braydon didnât mind Gildaâs attitude and sat directly on the sofa. âPatrick is a bit stern. He let you deal with so many documents alone. Is he going to train you to be the successor of the company? Look at your work. Itâs exhausting. I think you should just go to help me with my concert tour. Itâs easier and you can have fun at the same time.â
âNo, I wonât go with you!â Gilda said while sorting documents out. âI still remember that I was mistaken for your girlfriend by your fans at your concert last time. If Patrick hadnât come in time, I would have been hit by them on the head.â
âYou still remember that!â
Braydon wiped his lips and looked at Gilda with a smile. âYou said that you were not my fan. But you still remembered everything about us so clearly!â
Gilda was speechless. She looked up and rolled her eyes at Braydon. âIf you have delusions, go to see a doctor.â
Only you can cure my disease,â said Braydon with a faint smile.
Gilda was lost for words again.
But since Gilda was accustomed to those jokes from Braydon, she didnât get annoyed.
Since Braydon was a child, he loved singing very much. Now, he had become a popular singer overseas.
Braydon was usually busy, but he cared about Gilda very much.
When Gilda was determined to marry Jensen, Braydon directly canceled the upcoming concert. He wanted to fly to Allath and fight with Jensen. But later, he was stopped by Patrick.
Now in retrospect, Gilda wondered why she ignored her brothersâ concern back then and insisted on marrying Jensen.
âHere comes a call. I need to take this,â said Gilda.
The phone was vibrating again. Gilda glanced at it and found that it was still the strange number.
Braydon shut up consciously and watched Gilda walk to the window to answer the phone.
âHello, is that the new chief assistant of Glory Corporationâs CEO? About the disqualification of Harrington Corporation from the Geleston Medical Expo, I wonder if we canâ¦â
It was Lanny.
Gilda then understood why it was a strange number. Patrick had said that calls from the landline of Harrington Corporation would be intercepted directly, so Lanny simply called with a strange number.
Gilda deduced that it must be Jensenâs order.
âThere should be nothing to say about this matter. The Harrington Corporation did not meet the standard, and I think the previous secretary has already communicated with you.â Gilda was businesslike
and told the truth.
Jensen thought Harrington Corporation was qualified, but the truth was that Gilda put in a good word for Harrington Corporation.
âMs. Lynch?â Lannyâs voice came. There was surprise and shock in his tone.
Lanny had worked with Gilda for a long time, so he naturally recognized Gildaâs voice immediately.
Gilda neither denied nor admitted it. âIâm busy. I have to hang up.â
After hanging up the phone, Gilda let out a breath of relief.
Gilda was sure that Lanny made the phone call in Jensenâs office.
Gilda guessed that Jensenâs expression at the moment must be funny.
She was right. In Jensenâs office, Lanny handed the phone to Jensen in disbelief after Gilda hung up. He said, âMr. Harrington, the new chief assistant of Glory Corporationâs CEO sounds like Ms. Lynch. She⦠How could sheâ¦â
Jensen sat there with a sulky face. He was not deaf, so he naturally heard Gildaâs voice.
Just a second ago, Lanny reported that he didnât find any clue about Gildaâs soâcalled parents in the address given to him by Jensen.
In other words, all the information Gilda provided before was fictitious!
Jensen thought, âThis woman kept us in the dark for three years!â
âMr. Harrington, what should we do about the expo?â
Lanny looked at Jensenâs grim fice and didnât know what he was thinking.
âKeep calling her.â Jensen ordered and pursed his lips.
Lanny was lost for words.
