Chapter 140
How My Ex Became My Next by Kirk Stanley ( Gilda Lynch )
Chapter 140
Getting involved with Jackson shows her capability. No wonder Madeleine said Gilda intervened in her and Jensenâs relationship.
Ann thought, âIt seems Madeleine was right; this woman is not easy to deal with.
Understanding this, even though Ann reluctant, she still lowered herself and quickly apologized, âIâm sorry, Mr. Moore, I misspoke. Please forgive me.â
Jackson responded, âMs. Houston, your apology should be directed elsewhere.â
Ann was dumbfounded.
She thought, âApologize to Gilda? That is absolutely impossible!â
If it werenât for Gilda, her uncleâs family wouldnât have gone bankrupt, and her cousin Madeleine wouldnât have been imprisoned! Her intention was just to teach Gilda a lesson.
âMr. Moore, Iâ¦
Jacksonâs face turned cold, and he rhythmically tapped the table with his fingers, creating an invisible. pressure in the large conference room.
Jacksonâs patience was limited.
Seeing her hesitation to apologize, he stood up and straightened his jacket, âIn that case, thereâs no need to discuss todayâs cooperation. ML Group doesnât lack this project.â
âNo!â Ann hurriedly stopped him.
The company attached great importance to the new nanotechnology project, investing several billion in it. If she ruined it, she would lose her job.
âIâm sorry, Ms. Lynch!â
Four simple words were all Ann could muster. She couldnât afford to lose her job.
Gilda wasnât forgiving by nature, but considering the importance of the project to both companies, losing it over Ann would be greater loss.
Itâs okay, Ms. Houston!â
Gilda said, then glanced at Jackson. For some reason, at that moment, she felt reassured by his support.
Jensen had wanted to speak up for Gilda, but he was too late. Seeing her being protected by Jackson, he felt deeply uncomfortable.
It felt like something that belonged to him had suddenly been taken away, leaving him with hollow
feeling inside.
His assistant Lanny, who was standing by, couldnât help but feel nervous for Jensen.
For some reason, he had a premonition.
It seemed like things between Jensen and Gilda would never be the same again.
âSorry for the delay, everyone. I just finished a meeting and rushed over here,â said Derick Lee from Universe Blade Group, looking apologetic due to his late arrival.
Jensen, with a cold expression, replied first, âNo problem, Mr. Lee.â
Derick politely nodded to Jensen and then walked over to Jackson. âMr. Moore, I apologize for the wait. Our meeting will begin shortly.â
Jackson nodded, and Derick took his seat.
Ann noticed how respectfully her boss treated Jackson compared to Jensen, and her surprise grewâ¦
She knew ML Group had a strong background and Jacksonâs origins were impressive, but she hadnât expected Derick to be so deferential.
Her hands clenched involuntarily as she looked at Gilda. She thought, âThis woman is indeed formidable. No wonder Madeleine had lost to her.
But Ann was not one to back down.
âOur companyâs director, Ms. Houston, is one of the key people responsible for this project. Iâll let her introduce our overall strategy and the preparations weâve made for the initial stages,â Derick said, indicating to Ann.
Ann composed herself and walked over.
