Chapter 227
How My Ex Became My Next by Kirk Stanley ( Gilda Lynch )
Chapter 227
After getting her agreement, Patrick finally let Gilda leave Frencia.
Once back in Allath, Gildaâs first task was to visit Draven.
In Professorâs Office of Allath University.
Draven was showcasing Gildaâs designs at the fashion show to some students.
âProfessor Olson, the success of this fashion show is significantly connected to the main designs.â Cedric, one of Dravenâs students, commented.
Draven nodded in agreement.
âIndeed, the designs this time were outstanding. Our department has received several invitations to major international shows,â he said.
âIs that true, professor? Does this mean we might get the chance to attend international shows?â another student said, his eyes lighting up.
âCertainly! But securing this opportunity was no easy feat.
âPreviously, the international fashion scene rejected our work, undermining our abilities, claiming we couldnât design for the global fashion stage. But now, weâve proved our worth,â Draven said.
âItâs absolutely uplifting.â
A group of twentyâsomething students were thrilled.
One person stood out, his face void of joy, replaced by a hint of mockery.
âThis design is plain, lacks any spark. I wonder what the hype is all about,â he said.
The room fell silent instantly.
âWhat do you mean, Ludas? Are you also unimpressed by our designs?â someone asked.
Lucas snorted disdainfully.
âThe design quality is significantly inferior to Janeâs. I canât fathom why you chose her as the lead designer for this show,â he said.
Dravenâs expression darkened significantly when he heard Janeâs name.
As others gradually caught wind of Janeâs situation, they fell silent.

âWe all know you admire Jane, but in this instance, Jane clearly made a mistake.
âWe need to be objective instead of blindly favoring someone.â
Lucasâs expression soured instantly. âWhat do you all know? Whatâs wrong with Jane? Isnât her professional capability stronger than Gildaâs? But Professor Olson is biased and doesnât give her a chance!â
The group exchanged uneasy glances.
Draven wore a stern expression.
Just then, Gilda entered the room.
âProfessor Olson!â she called out.
Dravenâs rigid expression softened slightly while seeing her.
âGilda, perfect timing. We were discussing your work,â he started.
The other students spotted Gilda.
A glimmer of idolization filled their eyes. âGilda, please take a seat!â
âGilda, let me get you some water.â
âGilda, youâre my idol. Can I intern at your company after I graduate?â
Greeted by the enthusiasm of the students, Gilda smiled in response. âAbsolutely, youâre welcome!â
âReally? Thatâs fantastic! Iâll surely apply to Glory Corporation right after I graduate.â
Watching everyone gravitate toward Gilda, Lucasâs mind wandered to Jane, still in prison, feeling profoundly unfair.
In his mind, Gilda merely seized Janeâs fashion show opportunity due to her family background.
So, sarcastically, he said, âThis society is truly a place where connections matter. People do whatever they want just because they have status and background.
âSome people lack any real talent, yet seizing someone elseâs longâawaited opportunity and unabashedly boasting here. Does she truly hold herself in such high regard?â
