Jensen said domineeringly, âI just want her.â
Furious, Gilda refused, âMr. Harrington, Iâm afraid it wonât happen.â
Jensen looked displeased and solemn.
Yet he couldnât force her in front of so many people, so in the end, Emily dragged him away.
After they left, Marilyn hurriedly walked to Gilda and asked with concern, âGilly, are you okay?â
Gilda came back to her senses and shook her head. âYes, I am! Are you feeling better, Marilyn?â
âIâm fine. Itâs just the chronic conditionâ¦â
Meanwhile, Britney pulled a boy downstairs by grabbing his ear. He was around eight years old, covered with paint, clutching two brushes, and wearing a crying look.
âLook what youâve done, brat!â Britney yelled, causing the boy to let out a cry that echoed throughout the room.
Marilyn looked annoyed and scolded coldly, âEnough! Donât embarrass yourself.â
Britneyâs plan was intended for Gilda, but it went awry, making Jensen the victim instead.
Fearing that Jensen would punish her son if he found out, Britney took the initiative to apologize, saying, âMom, my son was acting so unruly and made such a mess. Could you kindly ask Jensen to pardon him? I hope he will. forgive my son. Iâve disciplined him.â
Marilyn ignored her but grabbed Gildaâs hand and said, âLetâs go, Gillyâ¦.
Gilda felt a little uneasy, her eyes darkening.
Emily and Jensen were left alone in his room after she sent servants away.
With his back facing Emily, Jensen was unaware that Julie had not yet left, so he untied his coat. But the next moment, Emily rushed over and said, âJensen, let me help you.â
Her eyes were filled with fire, and she moved quickly and grabbed Jensenâs coat before he could react.
Jensen subconsciously took a step back. Frowning slightly, he looked at Emily suspiciously and said, âEmily, I can do it myself. Please get out of here.â
Emily acted like she didnât understand what he meant. âWhat are you talking about? We have been close since

childhood. I never saw you become shy when we were kids and took baths together. Why are you feeling shy when I help you change clothes now? Remember that I am your cousin and have been looking after you childhood.â
âEmily, I am good. Please leave,â said Jensen in a lower voice, his eyes darkening.
Emily suddenly stopped and looked up into his eyes, feeling the urge to express her longâsuppressed love⦠âJensen, what if⦠How wonderful would it be if we werenât cousins!â
As soon as she said this, Jensenâs eyes were full of shock. He pushed her away without hesitation. âEmily, Iâm afraid you are intoxicated and talking nonsense.â
Emily stepped forward as if to show her sincerity. âNo, Jensen, I didnât drink tonight. I just got intoxicated when I
saw you.â
âI donât know what you are talking about. Iâll leave since you seem to enjoy staying here.â
Jensen then strode away.
