Chapter
âMs. Lynch!â they shouted in unison, which startled Gilda. She looked at the crowd and was a little confused. âAlan, what are you doing?â

Gilda was speechless.

âYou wouldnât come to me if you didnât have something to ask of me. Whatâs up?â Gilda said directly. Alan walked up to her and said with a flattering face, âYou are so smart.â
âHereâs the thing. Iâve been studying chess recently, and I have learned some new skills. I just want to play chess with you.â
Gilda raised her eyebrows and asked, âThatâs it?
Alan nodded repeatedly.
After losing to Gilda before, he admired her chess skills. However, it also intensified his desire to beat her.
After practicing diligently at home for some time, he decided to come over to compete against Gilda.
âMs. Lynch, can you give me a chance please?â
Alan looked at Gilda pleadingly. He didnât look like a gang leader at all. His eyes were full of obsession with chess.
Gilda rejected him. âI canât do it at this time because I need to inspect a project on an island. I will compete with you when
we return.â
Alan was dispirited at once and nodded listlessly.
Gilda didnât bear to see his disappointment and added, âIt is in Azalea Bay. The round trip only takes two to three days. You can also take this opportunity to sharpen your skillsâ¦
Alan was furious. âMs. Lynch, you are a bit mean at this moment.â
Gilda smiled and said, âI hope to see your progress next time.â
Alan was too angry to say anything.
Gilda went back to work. Alan didnât want to disturb her any further since she seemed busy: He informed Gilda that he was
leaving and left with his men.
But only after they came out did Alan realize something wrong. He asked, âWhere did Ms. Lynch say she would go â
âAzalea Bay?â
âAlan, didnât we sell the island to that foreigner two days ago? Why is Ms. Lynch going there?â

Alan glanced suspiciously and frowned. âMs. Lynch said she was going there for a project. Maybe she is going to work with the foreigner.â
They didnât think much about it. âThat may be the case. After all, Ms. Lynch has an extensive range of businesses and might need to deal with anybodyâ
Alan hurriedly interrupted them. âEnough. This is Ms. Lynchâs business. Letâs stay out of it. Letâs go back. I will practice playing chess harder. When she comes back, I will go compete with her.â
His men nothing.
In the evening. Alan played chess with his friend.
The two people were matched in strength, and the chess game was tense. Suddenly, a man rushed in and exclaimed, âAlan, something has happened!â
Alan waved his hand unhappily. âGo away. Iâll talk to you after I finish this.â
âButâ¦â
The man wanted to say something more, but Alan shot a cold look at him. He was frightened and bit back his words.
Alan finished the an hour . He had checkmated his opponent and was in a good mood. He said, â1 win! It was great to play chess with you.â
âAlan, youâre getting better at it!â
Alan was very proud. âI learned from the best. My leader taught me this.â
