Nicole pulled up to the park and waited. She looked in the mirror fixing herself up for Maria. She felt ugly in her work uniform and hair pulled back into a tight bun. She kept picking at herself until she heard a knock at the window. She jumped and looked over, seeing Maria with a sly smile across her face. "Did I scare you?" Maria said, trying to sound innocent.

"No. I was ju-just checking for something in my eye." Nicole felt her cheeks heating.

"Is that so?"

"Yes."

Maria let out a chuckle as Nicole pulled off. "Nic, Thank you for coming."

"It isn't a problem. I really like spending time with you."

Maria's cheeks had a slight tinge to them. She aw that Nicole was heading to her house and jumped up, "Wait, don't go to your house."

"What? Why not?"

"The-there are news crews everywhere." Maria dropped her head and continued. "Joanna sent them pictures of us and...and they know where you live."

Nicole laughed. "I have an idea."

Nicole made a u-turn and headed to the south side of town. Maria just sat, her head dropped and her mind wondering. Nicole looked over and grabbed her hand. "It's going to be ok." She gave Maria a reassuring smile. Nicole held her hand, until they pulled up to a into a parking spot on the side street. "What's this?"

"Come on." Nicole went to the passenger side letting Maria out and holding her hand. They walked up the street a little, coming to a house with the front lights on. Nicole pulled her up and knocked on the door.

From the outside Maria could hear the faint yell of a woman and a man. Soon a woman who looked to be in her eighties opened the door. She had short gray hair and a slim figure. Her skin was wrinkled with years of hard work showing. She held her arms open, "Nicky, baby doll come here."

Maria stood looking at the woman as Nicole went and hugged the woman who had called her. "Grandma, i want you to meet someone. This is Maria. Maria this is my grandmother." Maria held her hand out but, the woman swatted it away and pulled her into a tight hug. "Grandma let her breath please."

Maria felt her lung refill with air when the woman let her go. She followed Nicole and her grandma into the house. Nicole stopped Maria and pulled her into a side bathroom. "Ok, before we go in there, I want you to know something."

"What is it? Do they not like me?"

"No no, not that," Nicole laughed. "My grandparents can be a bit much and well... they get a bit carried away."

Maria looked a Nicole, confusion written on her face. "So?"

"So, if you feel uncomfortable at all tell me and we will go."

Maria nodded and followed Nicole into the living room full of people. Some played cards others sat, telling stories.

Maria sat in the kitchen with Nicole's grandmother. "So, how did you and my baby girl meet?" Asked Nicole's grandmother.

"She was my bodyguard."

"When did you two..you know?"

Thankfully Nicole made her way to the kitchen. "That's none of your business grandma. And we haven't."

Maria felt bad as she saw the look of sadness on Nicole's face. "A month. It happened after a month."

Nicole walked over to Maria, "you didn't have to say that. She's a nosey old bird." Nicole said the last part loud enough for her grandmother to hear.

"It's fine. No need to hide it now." Maria said.

"Nicole I like her. Sweetie, we have these dinners or whatever you want to call it every Sunday. You should come. Nicole always works so it'll be good to have someone here to keep me company."

"Ofcourse ma'am I'd love that."

Nicole stood looking between the two women. She saw how much Maria and her grandmother connected. None of the other women she brought even paid attention to her grandmother but, Maria was different.

After hours of talking and playing games, the house quite. Nicole's parents went to her house, her grandmother went to bed and Nicole was left with Maria in the living room.

"Thank you for entertaining my grandma. She's a bit much."

"It was fun. She's so lively. Made it easy for me to forget all my worries."

"Well then." Nicole laughed.

"Nicole, What if I don't want to be governor? What if i told you..."

"Told me what?" Nicole asked concerned.

"That i want...want to be with you."

Nicole felt her heart stop. She didn't want Maria to give up something she wanted so much. Even more so to be with her. "Maria, I don't want you to give up something you love to be with me."

"I want to. You have made me feel things i've pushed away for so long. The void that nothing and no one else could fill."

"But, this is what you've always wanted."

"Because, I thought it would fill my void. I thought it would make me fill whole and not like a part of me is gone."

"I don't want you to do that."

"Then what do you want?" Maria's voice saddened.

Nicole walked to Maria wrapping her arms around her waist. "I want you to go for it. You've worked so hard."

"But, I still want to be with you." Maria began crying.

"You will. I'm not going anywhere." Nicole pulled her into a hug. "I will be here ever step of the way."

"But, you dont want to be with me."

"Maria i didn't say that."

"You didn't have to." Maria pulled herself away from Nicole headed for the door.

"Where are you going?" Nicole asked as she grabbed Maria's arm.

"Let me go. You gave me the best night of my life and then you say you don't want to be with me!"

"Maira that's not what I meant."

"No, I am done letting people just use me. It's over."

Nicole felt her heart ripping. She couldn't let Maria go. She grabbed Maria and pulled her closer to her body. "I said i wasn't going anywhere." She didn't give Maria a chance to answer. She kissed her locking their lips and the same passion they felt the first time. Inly difference is this felt more like love and not just sex. Maria started to kiss her back. They broke the kiss, gasping for air. "I meant it." Nicole said.

Nicole pulled Maria up the stairs to her room. She kissed her again. Maria began unbuttoning her shirt, needing to feel Nicole's skin against hers. Nicole laid her back on the bed. She pulled st her pants, working them off her sun kissed, toned legs. Maria let out a soft moan as she felt Nicole's hand working inbetween her legs.

Nicole felt Maria dripping. she slowly kissed her, making Maria flinch at the sudden contact. "Please." Maria begged.

"Please what?"

"Please...fuck me.

Nicole listened as the words went through her body. She slowly licked her way around Maria's warm sex. She felt the slick liquid run down her throat. Maria moved her hips, matching Nicole's rhythm. "Don't stop!" she moaned.

Nicole took her fingers, filling Maria. She could feel her tighten around her as she pumped in an out. "Nic....I'm, i'm coming" Nicole went faster, moving her tongue across Maria's clit. Nicole moved her mouth covering Maria's entrance, feeling the juices seeping out as Maria came. Nicole stayed until the last wave of pleasure exited Maria's body.

"Now, do you believe me?" Nicole asked.

Maria nodded, feeling too weak to say a word. She curled up into Nicole, their bodies keeping one another warm."Nic?"

"Yes?"

maria felt the urge to tell Nicole she loved her but thought better of it. "I'm a little cold." Nicole wrapped the blanket around them and Maria drifted in to a peaceful sleep.

Two doors down Nicole's grandmother heard her granddaughter and Maria. She smiled to herself. She knew her granddaughter found the one. She only hoped that the hardships they would face wouldn't pull Maria away.
