Departure

The days after Maria's win were hectic. She barely saw Nicole. When she did they only had minutes to talk. It wasn't how she wanted to spend the last week they had together. Today she planned something different. She took the day to prepare for the last night she and Nicole had together.

"Thank you so much Ron for covering for me."

"Maria it's my job. Plus you need this. Enjoy your night and don't worry about a thing."

Maria thanked him and went to the kitchen. She started cooking and text Nicole. {I have a surprise for you.}

{And what might that be?} Asked Nicole.

{Come home and you'll see.}

Nicole smiled at the text. She was scared of leaving. Not because of the danger but, of not coming home to Maria. 'See this is why you didn't get close to anyone. Break it off. You're going to hurt her.'

One of her soldiers came in pulling her away from the nagging thoughts. In her past she kept women at bay to avoid the hurt in their eyes when she left. It was a lonely life but she led it with pride. Now, with Maria, she couldn't seemb to break away. The need to be around her was stronger than anything she felt before.

Her day had passed by. Almost as if she wasn't there. Now she headed home to Maria.

Maria heard Nicole come through the door. She put the last touches to the dinner and waited for her to enter.

"Surprise!" She said.

Nicole smiled seeing all that Maria did. Everything looked perfect and Maria looked amazing and her red dress hugged her body and her black pumps gave her a little more height but, she was still shorter that Nicole.

"Wow, this looks amazing." Nicole said.

"You sure it isn't too much?"

"Yes I'm sure." She pulled Maria into her arms kissing her softly. "I love it. And I love you."

Nicole kissed her again. Maria pulled back before the kiss got to passionate. "We should eat before it gets cold."

Nicole smirked, nodding in agreement.

They had eaten and Maria was finishing the dishes as Nicole showered. After she finished she went up to their room. She saw Nicole with only a sports bra and her cotton boy shorts. She licked her lips. "Nic, I really don't want to watch a movie."

Nicole looked at her seeing the dark gaze in her eyes. "Then what do you want to do?"

"You." Came Maria's simple answer. She walked to Nicole, letting her hands glide over the tight abdomen. Nicole wrapped her arms around her. She felt the strong arms pulling her close.

"Was this part of your surprise." Nicole asked.

"Not at first but, we can't stop now."

Maria pushed her down on the bed, straddling her . Nicole unzipped the tight dress kissing over Maria's neck and shoulders.

Maria took the remote and turned on Justin Bebier's You're All That Matters. She stood and laughed as Nicole groaned in protest. She slowly swayed her hips as Nicole watched her. Nicoles eyes dark like the ocean at night. The heat in her body rising.

Maria pulled her dress down slowly. It fell to the floor, she was left in a black bra and matching panties. She walked to Nicole pulling her into a kiss. "I love you." She said.

"I love you too." Nicole said breathlessly.

Maria straddled her again. Pulling off her bra, Nicole attacked her chest and she let out a moan. It was the perfect mix of pain and pleasure. Her hips move involuntarily as Nicole worked on her breast. "Oh...Don't stop." She begged Nicole.

Nicole flipped them and stood, she went and got the toy they had. She came back settling in between Maria's legs.

Maria felt it against her sex and moaned, "Nic...fuck me."

Nicole couldn't take it any longer. She slowly entered Maria's opening. Her movements slow at first. Maria had her legs wrapped around Nicole's waist. One hand hold on to Nicole's ass the other clawing at the chiseled back.

Maria woke her body weak from the many intense sessions she and Nicole had. She looked at the clock. It was 5:30am and she knew Nicole left at 10:00 for a six month long deployment. She turned and watched Nicole as the early morning light cascade through the window. She kissed her lightly and cuddled to her. She felt so good against Maria's skin. Maria was going to miss this.

"You're thinking too much." Nicole said, sleep filling her voice.

"No. I was enjoying watching you."

"Creep." They laughed. "Go back to sleep honey. I just want to hold you a few more hours."

"Ok " Maria closed her eyes. The sleep came easy.

Once they woke up it was 8:00. Nicole got ready, putting on her uniform. Maria watched as she neatly placed everything in its rightful place.

After eating they drove to the base where Nicole would say her good bye and for the next six months be in Africa.

"Maria don't cry. I'll be back here in no time. I'll call you every chance I get and I'll write you always."

"I...I know. But, why do you have to go so soon?"

"The sooner I leave the sooner I get home to you. I love you." Nicole kissed her lightly.

Camera crews spotted them and ran to question Maria. "Governor is this the woman you're with?"

"How long have you two been together."

Maria whipped her tears. Nicole kissed her once more. "I love you. And I'll be back before you know it."

"Ok. I love you too."

They made the last call and Nicole hugged Maria and joined her team.

Maria turned to the press as the question s continued.  "I will say this. Our troops are great and I hope for a safe return. They continue to support us so let's support them. Thank you."

Maria walked to the car and the tears began. Six months without Nicole. She felt as if her heart was wripped from her chest and set ablaze. Nicole was gone but, she knew she had work to do.

Nicole sat in her office, a week in Africa and she was ready to go. She was able to call Maria once. It was nice to hear her voice.

As Nicole headed out of her tent bombs began to invade the camp.

Commands were being called from every directions. She ran grabbing her gun. As she ran for cover she saw one of the men down. She ran to his aid.

"Hey!! Get up."

He didn't move. She didn't think twice as she pulled him in her arms and made a run for the cover.

She listened as the bombs continued, her thoughts going to Maria.

'Will I get home to her? I have to get home. No way will I die and leave her here. I love her too much. Get it together Nic and move your ass.'

Nicole stood taking the injutged soldier with her she ducked and dodged as much as she could until she reached a medical tent.

She looked down and noticed the blood seeping through her uniform. She looked up and saw the nurse. "Do you need help?"

Nicole couldn't answer. She vision went blurry and soon darkened.
