"Damn it John, I don't want her here. Why would you call her?!"

"Look! I don't care who she is or who she decides to be with. I know she is doing her job and will protect you. Those idiots almost got you killed! Do you get that?!"

"I'm fine, John. It's just some bumps and bruises."

" Having stitches and a black eye is not something a governor should have to walk around with."

"Whatever. It's my body and I will be fine. Just let it go."

Maria walked out of the bedroom slamming the door behind her. She felt the tears sting her eyes. 'Why can't I just be left alone. Who does he think he is to tell me that I have to have her. God! I don't even want to say her name.'

Maria's phone buzzed, causing her to jump.

"Hello?"

"Hi...This is Officer Brian, I just wanted to know what time you would be ready tomorrow."

'Great, she's really coming back.'

"6:30 am and don't be late."

Maria hung up the phone, not wanting to listen to Nicole's voice. She walked back to her bedroom where John was putting on his suit.

"And where are you going?" she asked her voice full of attitude.

"Out."

Maria didn't want to be around him but she didn't want him to leave. "So, I'm just to stay in the house like the timid wife?"

"Look, I have business to get done. Do whatever you want. I'm tired of catering to you. I called Officer Brian and she's watching over you until I get back."

"Until you get back? John how long are you going to be gone?" Maria felt the anger creeping up.

"Three weeks. Don't worry I'll be back in time for the election." John said heading to the door. He turned and kissed Maria's cheek. "I love you. You know that, right?"

"Yeah." Maria's face held a pout. John left and Maria locked the door.

'Great! Now I'm going to be stuck with her for three weeks. How can he just up and leave. Fantastic! The press is going to have a field day.'

"Nic, you can't go there. Why isn't her husband there with her?"

"Look, he asked me to come over and keep an eye on her."

"Well that's all you better do. How long you gonna be there?"

"Three weeks. Jesse don't be nasty. I have a job to do."

"Yeah to do her." Jesse whispered.

"What? Whatever. Just stay away from my house. The key is for emergencies only. Got it?"

"Aye Captain!"

Nicole left, feeling some regret from letting Jesse watch her house. She made her way to her car, loading her bags. Three weeks of Maria, she was starting to hate herself already.

Maria was in her living room watching tv when her doorbell rung. She hopped up grabbing the bat she had beside her.

"Who is it?"

"Officer Brian"

Maria unlocked the door stepping back, "It's open!"

Nicole opened the door. She walked through hearing a loud pop. "What are you doing?!" she yelled at Maria.

"Protecting myself! I thought you were one of them trying to get me."

"Give me that! You're nuts."

Nicole grabbed the bat, pulling her bags in behind her. She sat on the couch.

"Ni...Officer Brian. Why are you here anyway?"

"Your husband asked me to come here until he got back. To keep you safe."

Maria walked over to Nicole, hovering over her. "Well get your things. I'll show you the guest room."

Nicole and Maria made their way up the steps. They walked pass a bathroom before Maria stopped. Nicole bumped into her. "Sorry. I didn't...."

"Look, don't get any ideas. You are here because John asked you here. Don't try any of your little lesbian tricks."

"Woah! There is no way." Nicole laughed, seeing a a look of displeasure on Maria's face.

"Whatever. Don't try anything."

Maria left, closing the door behind her. Nicole changed her cloths and got into bed. She closed her eyes.

1 hour later

Maria was in her bed, looking at the ceiling. 'John that asshole. Why would he do this. Up and leave during something so important to me. I...ugh he's just so...'

Maria heard a faint knock at her door. She hopped up. Slowly she made her way out if her room. "We know you're in there! Open up!"

Her jaw dropped and her face turned white with fear. She looked down the hall where Nicole was sleeping. She ran to the room, knocking on the door. "Nicole! Are you up?" Maria whispered.

Maria didn't hear a response. She opened the door peeping at Nicole asleep. She walked over tapping her shoulder. "Nicole, wake up."

"What?" Nicole said, eyes still closed.

"Nicole get up! Someone is at the door. Come on." Maria shoved her in the back.

"What?!" Nicole yelled.

"There are people at the door."

Nicole got up pulling her shirt over her bra. Maria looked at her toned arms and abs. She didn't think women could have the v. She looked up to Nicole who grabbed her gun.

"Where?"

"The front door. They know I'm here. I can't let them..."

"Maria calm down."

Nicole walked downstairs. As she came up on the door she pulled her gun up, ready to fire. Before she had the chance a car speed off. She ran after them, she stopped in the middle of the street. "Shit!"

She walked back to the house, where Maria was standing. "Get in the house." Nicole said.

"Who was that?"

"Get in the house Maria." Nicole's voice was stern.

Maria walked in the house folding her arms across her chest. "Are you going to tell me what's going on?"

"Maria, please just go back to bed. I'll stay down here for the rest of the night."

"Fine. But, I'm not going up their by myself." She huffed.

"God, then stay here. I'll sleep on the floor." Nicole said putting blankets down for them. Maria laid on the couch moving before she found comfort.

"What if they come back?"

"They won't. Please go to sleep. I'm right here."

Maria felt some peace. 'I'm glad she was here. But she's so bossy. I like bossy... No! Maria get you mind together. I just feel like this because she helped me. That's all. She's one of them and I'll have to watch her.'

Maria look over to Nicole, who was fast asleep. She turned back over closing her eyes.
