Storms

Maria woke up, feeling warmth behind her. The last thing she remembered was sitting down to watch a movie. With Nicole. She tribes her eyes, trying to get up, but something held her down. She felt down her body, grabbing a soft hand. She screamed coming to her senses, falling off the couch.

"What the hell are you doing?!"

Nicole's eyes widened. The night came flashing back to her. "Oh my... I'm sorry. I didn't mean..."

"Whatever." Maria got up heading up the stairs, slipping into her own thoughts. 'Her, her body was so warm. And her hands felt like velvet. Why is this happening now of all times?'

Maria had the day off and she planned on sitting by the pool. Just her.

Nicole sat up, still in her cloths from last night. She remembered falling asleep and Maria moving to be wrapped in her arms. She loved the way Maria's tiny frame fit into her body. But, she knew better. She couldn't go back to her past and her job was far too important.

A few hours past before Maria came back out of her room. She had called John to see how he was. Then her parents to inform them of the progress she was making. When she came out of her room she didn't see Nicole.

She made her way to the back yard where the pool waited for her. She sat her book, towel and sunglasses down. She stood at the deep end, taking a deep breath before she dived in. She swam from one end to the other. Again and again until her arms and legs began to ache.

After drying herself off she sat in a chair opening her book and began reading. After half an hour she heard foot steps. She looked over her book at Nicole who had just come from a run.

She had on a sports bra and shorts. Maria could see the sweat slowly rolling it's way down Nicole's sculpted abs. Her eyes moved up slowly noticing that Nicole had muscles John didn't have. As she came to Nicole's face, she noticed the sharp jaw line and her perfectly plumped lips. She looked up more locking eyes with Nicole.

"Maria. Hey Maria, you ok?"

"Huh? Uh yea...Yes I'm fine."

Nicole smirked seeing how embarrassed Maria was. "You know, looking at me like that might give people the wrong impression."

"What do you mean?" Maria was confused.

"I mean, you looked at me like you wanted to eat me. like I was some guy on some magazine."

"I DID NOT!"

Maria stood, pushing pass Nicole going in to the house. Nicole followed, if she didn't move now she'll be locked outside. "Hey slow down." Nicole yelled.

"What?" Maria turned with a pissed look on her face. Nicole walked closer to her closing the space between them.

"Why are you so mean to me?" Her voice was husky.

"Wh..what do you mean?" Maia was caught up in the closeness, she could smell Nicole's scent. Even when she was sweaty she smelled like citrus.

"I mean," Nicole moved closer, pressing her body to Maria. "Why do you look at me with lust one second and the next talk to me like I'm nothing?"

"I...I don't know. I'm sorry I....hurt you."

Nicole looked down at Maria who's head was low. She lifted her face and moved closer to her lips. "You didn't."

Maria's eyes closed and her lips parted. Nicole looked at Maria caught in lust and backed away. Maria felt a cool breeze where Nicole once was. She opened her eyes seeing a smirk on Nicole's face.

Nicole turned, heading to the kitchen. "Are you hungry. I was going to order a some Chinese."

'What just happened? I almost kissed her or she almost kissed me. What were you thinking Maria.'

Maria walked towards the stairs going into her room. She shut her door, going to take a shower.

Nicole laughed to herself. She didn't want to push too far and have Maria back out. She ordered the food and some for Maria even if she didn't answer.

Nicole placed the food on a tray taking them upstairs. She knocked in Maria's door. "Hey, I have food and I know you haven't eaten. Open the door." Maria sighed, how could she look at Nicole after what almost happened.

"Maria come on, I don't want to break it down."

Maria got out of bed walking to the door. She opened it to see Nicole had changed cloths and carried a tray full of food. "I'm not hungry."

Maria walked away from the door, leaving it open. Nicole groaned, she was going to have to use her charm. She walked in to the room sitting at the foot of the bed. "Well you have to eat something. If you die, I'll be in a world of trouble."

"Fine." Maria pouted.

Nicole handed her a plate off of the tray. She got up sitting by Maria, facing the tv on the wall. "What was it like growing up for you?" Nicole asked after a long silence.

"I don't know. My parents are very Catholic, I didn't spend much time doing normal teen things." Maria sounded sad.

"That sucks. I guess I'll have to show you a wild side some." Nicole laughed.

Maria laughed slightly. "What about you?"

"Well let's see. My mom and dad were both police officers. My dad after he got out the navy. I did a lot of sports too. Softball, soccer and anything I could find."

"Oh, that's how you got that rocking body." Maria slapped herself mentally. How could she say that out loud.

Nicole laughed, "Yea, I guess. It became what you see today from boot camp."

"Have you ever killed someone?" Maria said it so fast, Nicole took a minuet to answer.

"I did my job, to protect my country."

Maria nodded. Her party was for war but that's where she disagreed most with the other members. "Do you like your job now?"

"If you mean protecting you, of course. I can't let the world lose an angel."

Maria blushed. She couldn't figure out why but, when she was with Nicole she was relaxed. Nothing pressured her.

"I hate to cut our bonding session short but, it's late." Nicole got up taking her trash with her. "Goodnight Maria." She kissed Maria on the cheek.

Maria felt faint. Nicole's lips were so soft. It was like the void she felt for years began to close. What was this woman doing to her? She laid down, closing her eyes hoping to get sleep.

Nicole laid in her bed. She had left Maria's room and threw the trash away. She heard the rain start, followed by the sound of thunder. She loved thunderstorms since she was a kid.

Maria was asleep in her room when she heard a loud thunder and a flash of lighting seeped into her blinds. Since she was a kid she hated storms. John always made her feel foolish for her fear. She tossed and turned until she couldn't take it. She got up and walked to Nicole's room.

Nicole was laying listening to the rain. There was a knock on her door. "Come in."

"Mmm Nicole, can I lay in here with you. I have a fear of big storms and I hate...."

Nicole cut her off. "Of course you can. Here."

Nicole moved over closer to the window. Maria walked in getting under the covers with Nicole. "Thank you." She said.

"No problem. You warm enough?"

"I'm a little cold but it'll be fine."

"Come here."

Nicole moved closer to Maria, wrapping her arm around her mid-torso. She pulled Maria closer. "Is that better?" she whispered.

"Yes." Maria said, almost too quite to hear. She could feel Nicole's warm body against hers. She felt Nicole's breath on her neck. That feeling was back again. She felt her body reacting to Nicole being close to her.

"Maria, it's ok. I'm right here nothing will happen. Relax."

Maria took a deep breath and relaxed her body. There was a loud crackling and she snuggled closer to Nicole, who wrapped her arm tighter around Maria. "It's ok. I won't let anything happen." Nicole said in a smooth tone.

Maria could feel Nicole's heart beat. She followed the rhythm slowly dozing off.

After half an hour, Nicole felt Maria relax and heard the light snoring she adored. She couldn't help but feel peace. She relaxed closing her eyes, joining Maria in sleep
