Chapter 13 – Giving up on Treatment (放弃治疗)
Space and Rebirth: The Favored Genius Doctor and Businesswoman
The three of them rushed to the hospital room and saw Qiao Weimin talking to a doctor.
âDoctor Wang, you said in the beginning that she might get better. Thatâs why we spent so much money. But now, my wifeâs almost gone. Shouldnât your hospital give me an explanation?â
âMister Qiao, I only said that there might be a chance. I didnât think her condition would worsen so quickly. Everyoneâs bodies are di?erent,â explained the doctor.
âI donât care. We still have your prescriptions (T/N: Western medicine aka pills) at home, but she canât even take them now. You have to take them back!â Qiao Weimin knew that the hospital wouldnât give compensation. What he wanted was to return those meds.
Those pills were easily over a thousand dollars, and there were plenty of them at home. Qiao Weimin planned to reap however much he could by selling them back to the hospital.
âThen... okay, fine. Bring the ones that havenât been used yet. Iâll take care of it...â Doctor Wang said.
Doctor Gan shook his head as he walked over and overheard the conversation.
âMister Qiao, right? Your daughter showed me her prescription. Itâll definitely work. Why donât you go get this picked up right now...â He interrupted.
(T/N: The medicine arenât pills but a bunch of herbs and natural things. Prescriptions tell you which things to put together and then you bring it home to brew it. I donât know how to explain it. Iâm sorry.)
âWhat do you mean?â Qiao Weimin couldnât understand.
Jing Yunzhao was nothing but a bastard who stayed at home all day. We could use her prescription? What kind of joke was that?
âThe meaning is very simple; The patient can be saved. If you follow this prescription and use it, she has a chance of surviving...â Doctor Gan continued to explain.
Qiao Weimin frowned as he listened.
He opened his mouth after a while, âThis prescription is Jing Yunzhaoâs, right?â
âYes,â Doctor Gan didnât deny it.
âThen I refuse to use it!â Qiao Weimin said coldly. âYou doctors said my wife couldnât be saved. Weâve already prepared for her passing, but now you decide to bring in some shitty prescription? And it was prescribed by my daughter, no less! If itâs like this, then shouldnât we have let my daughter treat her in the beginning? Plus, sheâs only a little girl, not even of age yet. If something were to go wrong with her prescription, will you guys be able to take responsibility?!â
âAt this point, the patientâs condition cannot get any worse, so letâs just give it a try...â Doctor Gan couldnât believe how di?cult Qiao Weimin was being.
Normally, it was the patients and their families asking him for help. This was the first time he himself had to ask to save a patient.
âTry? For what? My wife has su?ered enough and will finally be free. Do you not want her to die in peace?! Additionally... Doctor Wang, youâre my wifeâs primary doctor. Whatâs with this old man coming out of nowhere?â Qiao Weimin continued.
That Doctor Wang was a young doctor. Heâd just returned from studying abroad, and his future was full of possibilities. He felt displeased.
Heâd already determined the patientâs condition to be hopeless. That meant if someone else were to save her, his reputation would be ruined.
âDoctor Gan, I respect your seniority, but... Arenât you being a bit unreasonable? The patientâs family has already said no. It wouldnât be good if you continue to be so persistent, right?â Doctor Wang said, smiling.
Doctor Ganâs stomach was full of anger. He had never seen such an unreasonable family member before.
He, Gan Songbai (çæ¾æ), was one of the hospitalâs famed doctors. He had already approved of the prescription, and yet he was being cast aside like an old shoe!
Moreover, having lived to this age, he knew how to judge people.
Did Qiao Weimin reject him because he didnât trust the prescription? Noâhe obviously just didnât want to save his wife!
Gan Songbai was a genuine practitioner of medicine, but if the other party refused, then there wasnât much he could do.
He sighed and walked out of the room. He looked at Jing Yunzhao and said, âLittle girl, I canât do much if your dad doesnât want to. You should just let it go.â
Jing Yunzhao nodded, âI understand. Thank you, Doctor Gan.â
Sheâd offered a kind favor, but if the Qiao family was unwilling to accept it, then... that was none of her business. From now on, she would owe the Qiao Family nothing. It was time for her to get payback!
