Chapter 347

347- Not a Good Person (不是良人)

Currently, Ji Shan Shan and Tong Yan were both sitting next tof Jing Yun Zhao while holding the brocade box tightly, causing the both of them to look like guardian gods.

Once Father Ji arrived at their side, he didn’t even look at anybody and directly dragged Ji Shan Shan to the side before saying, “Shan-shan, at this point do you want Sun Yan to win, or for Sun Yan to lose?”

“Dad, why are you asking these questions? Could you actually be trying to...” Ji Shan Shan muttered as she thought, My dad wouldn’t be trying to rig the competition right?

Father Ji’s face turned black as he understood what Ji Shan Shan was insinuating, before replying, “You overestimate me, I don’t have enough power to influence the outcome of the competition. After all, there’s 9 judges here, how can I, a single judge rig the competition? Also, there would be plenty of onlookers during the competition, if I were to be overly biased, wouldn’t they be able to tell? I’m only asking about your thoughts.”

Being overly biased obviously wouldn’t be allowed, but the power the judges have was still great. Since all it takes was the judges to have a slightly favourable attitude to someone for the situation to be in that person’s favour.

Their personal bias would be highly effective if Jing Yun Zhao and Sun Yan were evenly matched in the competition. At that time, if the judges favoured Sun Yan even more, then Jing Yun Zhao’s defeat would’ve been set in stone already from the start.

The problem with competition’s like these, was that under the table deals were common, and in front of everybody who knew about these matters, his reputation would be sullied to some extent if he were to accept it. As a result, if he didn’t have a reason to do so, he obviously wouldn’t accept these deals.

Ji Shan Shan was dizzy from all the questions her father asked... because she herself didn’t know the answer to them!

“I want Cui Jun to win, but I don’t want to let Sun Yan win...” Ji Shan Shan grumbled.

Father Ji rolled his eyes before replying, “They’re both in the same team! Shan-shan, you have to consider this matter carefully, not only about the current competition, but also your future and after the competition! I want you to think, can you really not live without Cui Jun by your side in the future? Just now, Cui Jun’s father came to me with an unpleasant attitude, and although he didn’t say it directly, he implied that if I were to not help his Cui Family in this competition today, either you would have no chance of marrying Cui Jun in the future, or he would make sure that your life at the Cui Family would be hell after marrying Cui Jun!”

“You guys aren’t even dating, and the people from the Cui Family already dared to threaten me, yet you also don’t let me, your father, to catch a breath! What good do you even see in Cui Jun? In my opinion, Tong Yan is way better than him! Also, think carefully, does Cui Jun really have you in his heart? Father Ji couldn’t keep calm anymore as he started scolding Ji Shan Shan, but after finishing his words, he became soft-hearted and let loose a sigh.

Especially so, when he saw his daughter had a look of anger and sadness on her face

These words that he said today, he wanted to say them a long time ago but the only problem was that Ji Shan Shan was his precious daughter. As a result, he couldn’t bear to lecture her and would just let her do as she pleased.

Previously, although he knew Ji Shan Shan loved Cui Jun, he didn’t do anything to stop it, mainly because he felt that she was still young and her feelings may change in the future when she grew up.

However, today’s incident truly made him feel suffocated and enraged, to think that the Cui Family dared to use his daughter as a threat just to obtain a ginseng!

While getting scolded harshly by Father Ji, Ji Shan Shan looked dazed and innocent.

“Dad, you don’t like Cui Jun?” Ji Shan Shan asked after a while with red eyes.

“With his character, how can I like him? If the person you chose was someone like Tong Yan, then I promise you, I wouldn’t hinder your relationship. Although the Tong Family lives far away from our family, every member of the Tong Family are honest people...” Father Ji continued.

Currently, Father Ji was deliberately avoiding Jing Yun Zhao, but with Jing Yun Zhao’s improved hearing ability she obtained with her martial arts, not a single word they spoke was missed.

Thankfully, it looks like Ji Shan Shan’s father wasn’t stupid and could see that Cui Jun wasn’t a good person.

The only problem here was him talking about love with his 16-17 year old daughter now... shouldn’t he have done that earlier? If Ji Shan Shan heeded his advice now then it would truly be weird.

“But I don’t like Tong Yan...” Ji Shan Shan said while pouting, before continuing, “Dad, as long as you’re not biased towards anyone then I’m happy. Although I love Cui Jun, that’s my issue, I don’t need you to risk our family’s reputation to help Sun Yan!”
