Chapter 2:
Casual Encounters
The first time after the party happened fast. A late-night text. A short drive. No hesitation.
Renee barely had time to think before she was outside Jordan's apartment again. She didn't knock. She didn't need to. The door swung open, and there Jordan wasâmessy hair, a lazy smirk, wearing nothing but a hoodie and shorts.
Neither of them said much. They didn't have to.
Afterward, Jordan lay on her back, staring at the ceiling. Renee sat up, running a hand through her hair. The room smelled like sweat and perfume.
Jordan turned her head, watching Renee. "Hungry?"
Renee raised an eyebrow. "For food?"
Jordan chuckled. "Yeah." She sat up, stretching. "I've got leftover pizza."
Renee thought about it. It was nearly 2 a.m., but she wasn't in a rush to leave. "Sure."
Jordan tossed her a hoodie, and they ended up sitting on the kitchen counter, eating cold pizza straight from the box. It was easy, casual. No expectations.
When Renee left, they didn't talk about seeing each other again. But a few days later, Jordan texted.
You up?
And just like that, it became a thing.
---
The weeks passed in a blur of late-night meetups and lazy mornings.
They never made plans. It just happened. A text. A glance across a bar. A whispered "Your place or mine?"
It was uncomplicated. No dates, no deep conversations. Just heat and fun and the occasional sarcastic comment.
One night, Renee showed up at Jordan's apartment after a long shift at work. She was exhausted, but as soon as Jordan opened the door, all that tension melted away.
"You look like you need a drink," Jordan teased, stepping aside to let her in.
"I need something," Renee muttered, kicking off her shoes.
Jordan smirked. "I think I can help with that."
---
Afterward, Renee lay sprawled across Jordan's bed, staring at the ceiling.
"You're always looking at that damn ceiling," Jordan said, rolling onto her side.
Renee grinned. "It's a nice ceiling."
Jordan snorted. "You're an idiot."
Renee turned her head, meeting Jordan's gaze. There was something in her eyesâsomething playful, but maybe something else too. It flickered for a second before disappearing.
Jordan sat up, stretching. "Wanna shower?"
Renee shook her head. "Nah. Too tired."
Jordan smirked. "Lame."
They didn't cuddle. They didn't talk about feelings.
But Jordan didn't kick her out, either.
---
Another night, another text.
This time, it was Renee who sent it. Bored. You home?
Jordan's reply came fast. Door's open.
By now, it was routine. Renee walked in, dropped her bag by the door, and found Jordan in the living room.
Jordan looked up from the TV. "You again?"
Renee grinned. "Me again."
Jordan smirked. "Guess I don't mind."
Neither of them said what this was.
Neither of them asked where it was going.
â
And more
Jordan: You up?
Renee was already in bed, half-asleep, her body wrapped in the warmth of her blankets. She stared at the message for a second, biting her lip.
She knew what this meant. It wasn't just a casual check-in. Jordan wanted her. And the truth was, Renee wanted her too.
She hesitated for a moment, fingers hovering over the keyboard. Then she typed back.
Renee: Yeah. What's up?
The reply came almost instantly.
Jordan: Come over.
Renee exhaled slowly, her heart picking up speed. She could already feel the anticipation stirring in her stomach.
Renee: Be there in 10.
The moment Renee knocked on Jordan's door, it swung open.
Jordan stood there, leaning against the frame, her dark hair slightly messy like she had just rolled out of bed. She wore nothing but a loose tank top and a pair of gray sweatpants, hanging low on her hips.
"Hey," Jordan said, her voice low, rough.
Before Renee could respond, Jordan reached for her, fingers curling around the front of her jacket, pulling her inside. The door clicked shut behind them.
Their mouths met in an instant.
The kiss was hungry, desperate. Jordan's hands found Renee's waist, gripping her tight, pulling her closer. Renee melted into it, her fingers sliding up Jordan's bare arms, feeling the warmth of her skin.
Jordan pushed her back against the door, pressing their bodies together. Renee gasped against her lips, the heat between them already building.
Jordan's hands roamed, slipping under Renee's shirt, fingertips tracing the bare skin of her stomach.
"Missed me?" Jordan murmured against her lips.
Renee smirked. "Didn't say that."
Jordan chuckled, her breath warm. "Didn't have to."
Without another word, she grabbed the hem of Renee's shirt and pulled it over her head, tossing it to the floor. Her lips found Renee's neck, kissing, biting, leaving a trail of heat down to her collarbone.
Renee let her head fall back against the door, her breath coming quicker.
Jordan's hands moved lower, unbuttoning Renee's jeans, pushing them down over her hips. Renee kicked them off, stepping out of them without breaking contact.
Jordan's fingers slipped under the waistband of her panties, teasing. Renee sucked in a sharp breath, her hands gripping Jordan's shoulders.
"Bedroom," Jordan muttered against her skin.
Renee nodded.
Jordan took her hand, leading her through the dimly lit apartment. They didn't make it all the way to the bed before Jordan spun her around, pressing her up against the dresser.
Jordan's lips were on her again, rough and demanding. Her hands slid down Renee's back, pulling her closer until there was no space between them.
Renee moaned softly, her fingers tangling in Jordan's hair.
Jordan smirked against her lips. "That's what I like to hear."
After, they lay tangled in the sheets, bodies warm and breath still uneven.
Jordan stretched, her fingers tracing lazy circles on Renee's bare back. "So, this is fun."
Renee chuckled, her head resting on Jordan's shoulder. "Yeah, it is."
There was a pause. The room was quiet except for the faint hum of the city outside the window.
Jordan finally spoke. "No expectations, right?"
Renee hesitated for half a second. Then she nodded. "Right."
That was all they needed.
It was easy. It was light.
