Chapter 8:
Wedding Bells & Balancing Love & Parenthood
Wedding planning with a baby was absolute chaos.
It wasn't that they didn't want to plan it. They did. They had been engaged for months, and every time they talked about their future, it always included the wedding.
But between night feedings, diaper changes, Taylor balancing music, and Reese adjusting to motherhood, where the hell was the time?
"Okay," Reese sighed, flopping onto the couch, Hazel tucked in her lap. "We need to make some decisions."
Taylor, sitting beside her, gently poked Hazel's tiny nose. "About what, baby girl? Whether we should watch a rom-com or another true crime doc?"
Reese rolled her eyes, swatting Taylor's arm. "Our wedding, Taylor."
Taylor groaned dramatically, draping herself over Reese's shoulder. "Ugh. Can't we just elope?"
Reese turned, raising an eyebrow. "You wanna elope?"
Taylor lifted her head, grinning. "A little. It'd be kinda romantic."
Reese huffed a laugh. "Yeah, except you're literally Taylor Swift."
Taylor pouted. "Damn. You're right. People would riot."
Reese sighed, rubbing Hazel's back as she yawned. "I just don't know how we're supposed to plan a wedding while keeping a tiny human alive."
Taylor thought for a second, then grinned. "We could let Selena and Sabrina plan it."
Reese snorted. "Oh my God, that's a terrible idea."
Taylor laughed. "Right? But imagine how funny it would be."
"Selena would turn it into an exclusive private event and Sabrina would try to make it a festival."
Taylor giggled, pressing a kiss to Reese's cheek. "Okay, fine. We'll handle it."
Reese sighed again. "But when?"
Taylor paused.
She didn't know.
She wanted to marry Reese. She wanted it so bad it ached. But Reese was rightâhow were they supposed to plan something so big when their days were already so full?
Then, out of nowhere, an idea hit her.
A crazy, perfect idea.
But she didn't say anything yet.
Instead, she leaned in, whispering, "We'll figure it out, baby."
And Reese, completely unaware of what Taylor was planning, just sighed and leaned into her.
Hazel was growing way too fast.
Reese didn't understand it.
One minute, Hazel was this tiny, delicate newborn, always nestled against her chest. Now?
She was grabbing things.
She was laughing.
She was sitting up on her own.
And she was stealing the hearts of every single person around her.
"Oh my God," Sabrina whispered, staring at Hazel as she wobbled in her lap. "She's literally perfect."
Gracie, beside her, nodded aggressively. "I would die for her."
Selena smirked, sipping her wine. "That's a little dramatic."
"No, it's not," Sabrina said seriously, adjusting Hazel's little onesie. "Look at her."
Hazel blinked up at her, then let out a tiny giggle.
Sabrina gasped. "She laughed."
Reese, standing by the kitchen counter, smiled. "She does that now."
Taylor walked over, sliding an arm around Reese's waist. "She also yells now."
Gracie gasped. "Like, yelling yelling?"
"Yeah," Reese groaned. "Mostly when we take something away from her."
Sabrina grinned, looking down at Hazel. "You're a menace, huh?"
Hazel just babbled something incoherent.
And Sabrina, completely whipped, gasped again. "Oh my God, she's so smart."
Taylor laughed. "She takes after Reese."
Reese smirked. "Damn right, she does."
Taylor pressed a soft kiss to her temple, pulling her close.
And for a moment, Reese forgot all about the stress of wedding planning, tour, and the never-ending pressure of being in the spotlight.
All that mattered was this.
Their family. Their messy, beautiful, chaotic family.
Taylor had never been good at keeping secrets from Reese.
Which made planning a surprise wedding incredibly difficult.
But she was determined.
Because the truth was, she didn't want to wait. She didn't want a massive, stressful event. She just wanted Reese.
And she wanted Reese now.
So, with Sabrina, Selena, and Gracie's help, she pulled it off.
She planned a small, private ceremony. Just their closest friends and family. No press. No cameras. Just them.
She found Reese the perfect dress.
She wrote her vows.
She even wrote a song just for her.
And on a quiet, warm evening in their backyard, under fairy lights and a sky full of starsâ
She married the love of her life.
Reese had no clue what was happening until Selena blindfolded her.
"Okay, what the hell is going on?" Reese laughed, adjusting Hazel in her arms.
Selena grinned. "You'll see."
Reese groaned. "Is this a surprise party? If so, you suck at being subtle."
Sabrina snorted. "Oh, babe. It's so much better than a party."
Confused, Reese just sighed and let them lead her outside.
Thenâ
The blindfold came off.
And Reese froze.
Because standing in front of her, in the middle of their beautifully decorated backyard, was Taylor.
In a stunning white dress.
Hazel, in Gracie's arms, wearing a tiny matching dress.
And all their closest friends surrounding them, smiling.
Reese's breath caught.
"Oh my God."
Taylor stepped forward, smiling softly. "Surprise."
Reese blinked. "Tay... what is this?"
Taylor took her hands. "Our wedding."
Reese's heart stopped.
And then started again, so fast it hurt.
She felt her throat tighten. "Are youâare you serious?"
Taylor nodded. "I don't want to wait anymore. I don't need some massive wedding, I just need you."
Reese, already tearing up, let out a shaky laugh. "Jesus Christ, I love you."
Taylor grinned. "I know."
And then, right there, under the starsâ
They got married.
Taylor's vows made Reese sob.
Because of course, Taylor had written a song.
And as she sang, voice shaking, eyes locked on Reeseâ
Reese felt her entire world shift.
Because this was it.
This was forever.
And when it was Reese's turn, she pulled out a tiny, crumpled piece of paperâ
And read the poem she had written about them. About falling in love. About Hazel. About their life.
And Taylor?
Taylor cried.
Because this was it.
This was forever.
That night, wrapped up in each other, Hazel sleeping peacefully between them, Reese whisperedâ
"We did it."
Taylor smiled, pressing a soft, lingering kiss to her lips.
"Yeah, baby," she murmured. "We did."
And as they lay there, bodies tangled, hands intertwinedâ
They both knew.
This was just the beginning.
