Unexpectedly Yours

Tyler Anderson

It's late at night my motor is howling as I'm driving down the streets, fresh air giving me goosebumps.

The city is coded in a pretty purple light as it's getting tinier in the reflection of my mirror. First day of school was the same thing every year.

You're kinda excited meeting the people you missed so much in the summer break.

But then you remember it's time to work hard for your future which I didn't really do the past few years. I'm graduating this year and I'm definitely not ready for it. I never really listened to my teachers or made my homework.

I probably need tutoring or something like that. I won't get through the school year without doing anything and I definitely want to graduate with my friends.

My parents never really cared about my grades. They weren't really strict and stopped caring as soon as I turned 18 and moved out. Since I moved out I haven't really been able to see them.

"Your Mom called." Chris came down the stairs as I entered our dorm. I take off my helmet and jacket. "What did she say?" He shrugs. "You left your phone here. I just saw her name pop up on your screen."

"I'll call her back tomorrow. I'm kinda tired." I sighed.

My mom was really worried when I moved out at first. She was afraid me and the boys wouldn't get along. I remember the first days. She called me every night to make sure I'm doing fine. I love her and her caring side.

We're living far away. She can't visit me whenever she wants and so can't I.

My father seemed proud of me. He has always been proud of me and my brother.

Cole graduated here and after that they moved to LA. He definitely was a better student than I am right now.

My parents are proud of me because they think I'm also doing really good in school even though I'm not. But I try to be. Soon.

"Why are you even here? You're not living here." I ask Chris and sit down on the couch. "I was bored and the only one home was Noah. Where were you?"

"I just went for a quick ride." Chris sighs and drops onto the couch next to me.

"I saw Madeline talking to a guy today and he's definitely older than her."

Chris definitely has a crush on her. He can't deny it anymore. He watches everything she does. When she's laughing with her friends. The way she stands there with her blonde, silky hair and these ice blue eyes just take his breath away.

"And?" I look at him. "Why didn't she choose me? We'd be such a good couple." He throws his head back onto one of the pillows.

"I'm better than all these guys out there!!" I chuckle slightly.

"You're definitely in love with her." He looks at me.

"After I almost got her pregnant? Hell yeah. It just triggered something in me. Now I can't stop thinking about her." There are so many gorgeous girls on this planet earth and he chose Madeline? This dude is crazy.

"You're disgusting, Caddle. Get a life." Daniel walks in, taking off his helmet. "Where were you this late, young man?" Chris sits up, looking at Daniel like he's his mom.

"None of your business, Caddle." Daniel ran his fingers through his dark brown curly hair. "I had to discuss something with the crew. Life as a captain is exhausting." He said arrogantly and dropped onto the couch as well.

"Chris is preoccupied with his one-sided love for Madeline. We have to help the poor boy." I said and had to stifle a laugh.

"But why Madeline? Take someone else, bro. There are better ones. Yes, she's good looking but her character is ass." Daniel said, his slightly tanned skin glowing in the light of the living room lamp. Daniel is more than just good-looking. His caramel skin gives him that beautiful glow that'd make every girl fall for him.

"Find someone who is also interested in you." He added. "That's the thing... It's less exciting then." Me and Daniel groan at the same time. "You're so weird, Bro."

"It's time for you to go home. I don't want to hear about Madeline anymore. Get her out of your mind, Caddle." I sigh and stand up from the couch.

"You guys will see. She'll be my wife soon." Daniel and me groan while Chris puts on his jacket. "I won't talk to you if you don't stop with this shit." Chris just laughs at his comment.

"We'll see each other tomorrow." He chuckles and then leaves.

"Oh god. He's so annoying. Why her?" Daniel sighs. "If he continues to bother her, he'll get serious problems. Little miss is rich as fuck." Danuel is kinda right.

When something didn't go the way Madeline wanted, she always called her father or threatened the principal to call her parents. She's her father's little princess and he would do anything for her.

We all just know she would do the same with Chris if he won't stop annoying her any time soon.

"We'll have to tell him but let's do it tomorrow. I'm tired." Daniel sees me yawning and nods. "Good night, Anderson. See you tomorrow." I smile at him and make my way upstairs.

Then I remember that my mother called earlier. I actually wanted to call her tomorrow but I'll just do it now.

I sat on my bed and dialed her number.

"Hey mom." Of course she immediately answers the phone.

"Hey my good looking boy. How are you?" I smile at her little comment.

"I'm fine. I just came back home. How are you? "

"Oh,I'm fine too. I just wanted to check on you. I haven't heard from you all day. It was your first school day today, right?"

"Yeah, it wasn't really special. I thought I'd feel different being in senior year now."

"My big boy will graduate soon. I'm so proud of you." I know she's smiling even though I can't see it.

"You will do great. I just know."

"I will try my best. Thanks for checking on me."

"I'm so proud of you. Always remember, Tyler. I love you with my whole heart."

"I love you too, mom."

"You have to come visit us some time."

"I definitely will. I planned on doing so."

"Great. Good night, darling. Sweet dreams." I smile.

"Good night mom." And with that she hangs up.

I fall back into my bed, feeling kind of exhausted from my first day.

Nothing felt different. The pressure just gets higher.

There's no one interesting in this school. The only girl I was ever interested in was Katelyn. I really had a huge crush on her until she had her first boyfriend. Ethan Parker. I don't even know why they broke up. Ethan always surprised her with flowers after school and treated her perfect.

He has thick black hair, which he usually slicks back. It makes his face stand out better. Most of the time he was only dressed in black, his delicate hands were usually adorned with thick silver rings and, of course, not to forget the silver chain around his neck.

He was the complete opposite of Katelyn. She always wears pastel colors, be it dresses, skirts or T-shirts.

Her brown hair was the best match for the yellow pastel shades in my opinion. But even though they were so different, they were still a perfect match.

I was a little sad when I saw that Katelyn had dyed her hair. She now had dark brown, almost black hair. I wonder if she thought a lot about her breakup with Ethan in the summer break.

Was that the reason for her change?

I sigh a little in despair. I think it's time for me to go to sleep.

"Good morning sleepy head." I hear a voice say as I come down the stairs. I still feel like I'm in bed under my warm and cozy blanket.

"If you're not ready within five minutes, we'll be late." Noah says while finishing his cereals.

"I'll try to hurry up." I say with my morning voice.

I hop into the shower. After my shower, I get out, I quickly fix my hair and put some clothes on.

"No breakfast?" Daniel asks confused as I put my helmet on. "No time." I chuckle and walk out of the dorm.

It's the first time I see Madeline talking to that guy. Chris mentioned it yesterday. He is definitely older than her and his face seems familiar to me.

"So that's the guy Chris was talking about?" Daniel takes off his helmet. "Seems like it." Noah sighs.

Madeline is biting her lip while she's talking to him. Eyes wandering from his eyes to his lips and back.

She nods and looks at him dreamily while her index finger plays with a strand of her blonde hair.

The young man looks at her, totally enamored. A slight smile graces my lips as I watch the two of them.

"Let's go inside. Class is about to start." Noah taps me on the shoulder to snap me out of my trance.

When we entered the class Chris was already sitting in his seat talking to Kyle, "Hey Kyle my boy." I put my arm around his shoulder and grin at him. "I haven't seen you for the last week. Where have you been?" He sighs softly and pushes his glasses higher on his nose bridge with his finger.

"I had to show the new student around." The boys and I looked at each other. "A new student? Who?" Kyle looked at us one by one. "I wanted to introduce her to you guys at lunch break."

A new girl at our school? "What's she like?" I asked him. "She's really nice. She's friends with your sister, Daniel." He said and looked at Daniel. "She's friends with Cassie? Why didn't she tell me?" He looked at him a little confused.

"You'll like her too. She's settled in really well in her first week here." Kyle seemed so proud. He really seems to like her. I hadn't even realized that we had someone new at our school. I can't wait to see what she's like.

"I'm so hungry dude." Groaned Chris as he bit into his chicken wrap. "Wasn't Kyle going to introduce us to the new girl?" I asked impatiently. "Chill out, Anderson. Lunch break just started." Daniel rolled his eyes.

"But aren't you curious what she looks like?" "No one could ever look better than Madeline." We all look at Chris. "Shut up and eat." Noah sighed and leaned back in his chair.

Then the door opened and Kyle walked in with a girl by his side.

She had beautiful blue/green eyes. Her brown hair is slightly curled at the ends and her curtain bangs make her beautiful face and eyes stand out. Perfect nose and lips and beautiful eyes you could get lost in if you stare into them for too long. I've never seen a girl as beautiful as her. She's gorgeous.

She looks a little shy, looking around in the cantine.

I never really looked at girls the way I'm looking at her right now. There's just something about her that caught my attention but I don't know what it is.

She's not like Madeline or Katelyn. They always get attention from all the boys, Chris included. She's different

"Fuck, she's more beautiful than Johnson." Daniel blurts out. "She's good looking but Madeline still holds first place." Chris says, slapping Daniels biceps slightly.

Kyle comes towards us, now I can get a better view of her. She has a pretty body, slim waist, beautiful curves and gorgeous plump breasts.

I had to cover my mouth to hide my smirk as I eyed her. "This is Alice, my new classmate. She moved here a few weeks ago."

Alice. I've heard this name before. I immediately remember but what I don't remember is her being this beautiful.

I met her a few days ago. Alice. The girl that told me I almost killed her while driving past her. Of course. I remember. How could I forget an attitude like hers.

Then suddenly, I notice that she's staring at me but probably because I am staring at her too.

"Nice to meet you, Alice. Come sit with us." Chris says, tapping the empty chair next to him.

She smiles, sitting down next to him. She seems calm, not as shy or nervous as I thought she is. She listens to the boys while they're introducing themselves.

"Anderson?" Chris slaps me slightly. "Hm?" I look at them, I didn't listen to what they said. Not even a second. I'm screwed and Daniel noticed. He's smirking, shaking his head.

"Introduce yourself." Chris groans, leaning back while wanting to look extra cool for her.

"I'm Tyler Anderson and I'm nineteen." I shrug, not really knowing what to say about myself. She grins and I just know what she'll say next.

"You're the one almost murdering me, right?" I shake my head, smirking a little. "I didn't even touch you. Not even your hair blew in the wind." I lean forward, elbows on the table and pocking my inner check with my tongue.

"Anderson, you can't hurt a girl like her!!" Chris said, slapping me playfully. "You're not cool, Caddle. Calm down and watch out what you're saying." As I finish my sentence the smile on his face fades.

"Fuck you." He says, leaning back. I can see she seems uninterested in our little fights and probably thinks they're childish.

"Kyle told me you're friends with my sister." Daniel smiles, helping to ensure that this silence doesn't become too awkward.

"Cassie? Is she your sister?" He nods. "I hope she's nice to you." He smiles. "Of course she is."

"Tell us something about yourself, Alice. Where are you from?" All of the boys seem pretty interested in her. "I'm from Chicago and moved here a few weeks ago and now I'm living with my aunt here in Boston."

Noah and Daniel nodded attentively. "Tell me something about yourselves. I'd like to get to know you better." She smiled.

"Daniel and I play on the basketball team and Kyle plays on the soccer team. Tyler, Daniel, Noah and I are all in the same class and have been friends for at least five years." "We all live together, too." Noah added.

She nods and smiles softly again. "That's great to hear. You guys seem to have a great friendship."

"And you? How are you getting on here at school? Are you just as much of a nerd as Kyle?" I asked her, but she didn't seem to find my question as funny as I had thought.

"From the way you asked that question, I know you're one of those people who aren't practising for any tests or exams, so it's none of your business how I'm doing at school."

She put on a fake smile and turned her attention back to the other boys. I saw Kyle look down at the floor and smirk while Chris stifled a laugh. "Fuck..." I cursed quietly and ran my fingers through my hair in despair.

Had I fucked up already? With a girl as beautiful as her? She doesn't even seem to show any real interest in me, but in the others. I wanted to get to know her better too...
