Chapter 75: The Whisper

Penelope POV

The golden, blazing eyes of the black wolf seemed to penetrate my soul in the darkness

They blinked at me and then suddenly, the wolf turned away and started running in the opposite direction. The whole place was shrouded with mist. "Stoppp!" I screamed and darted after him

"Stop, please stop!" I panted after him as I gulped for air, but the wolf was so fast that soon I was left alone. I sank on the ground out of breath, my chest heaving and darkness closing in on me I jerked awake, trying to peel open my eyes,

trying to make sense of my nightmare, clinging to my pillow. I sat down and switched on the bedside lamp. I looked around as if hoping to be in Drexel's apartment, but I was somewhere else. I was in my brother's apartment. Alpha Steven... my brother

I curled my knees against my chest as I leaned my head against the headboard. I thought I was done with crying, but every night when I was alone, tears would somehow find their way inside my eyes. I wondered what Drexel must be doing right now. It was possible that he was making fun of me with Freya and also preparing for their wedding. "Ah Gods!" I said aloud

"Relieve me of this stupid agony!"

My brother immediately melted. He came to me and hugged me. "I want you to be the best." When I giggled, he said, "Can you feel your wolf?"

I shook my head and he pursed his lips. "No worries! Let us run and break another record today. You must run faster than your previous record."

"At this rate, I will end up getting a gold medal at the Olympics!"

"Or maybe your wolf!"

"Where is Kimberley?" I asked, scanning the whole crowd
